I've started Exeter City, I am coming up to the January transfer window and I'm in 5th place.

Exeter were predicted to finish 23rd!

I brought in Darron Gibson from Man U, Mark Howard from St Mirren in goal and Febien Brandy from Man U all on loan till the end of the season and I am loaning a new Premiershyte striker every 3 months to keep my forward line decent. Brandy has 16 goals so far and its not even January.

Scouting knowledge is awful there so you hardly have any players to choose from, but David Noble in on a free has probably been my best bit of permanent business, as well as four or five 2-and-a-half to three star people in on frees.

I spent £16k on Leon Johnson from Wycombe too.

I'm waiting for a bigger club to come in for me, as I've never left a club I've been managing before so I think I might do that on this one.

It's a good route to take PotGuy, just make sure you don't become too 'attached' to Exeter, otherwise you'll just get bored with the save game about five minutes after you join your new team.

Has anyone started a game yet with the new patch in use, particularly with watford?

What are the new changes like, any easier?

  4. Prentice

    Prentice Administrator

Not easier by any means, just fixed little niggly flaws, and updated the DB.

Just got sacked in my first season and was in 17th place.

I brought in Darren Gibson from Man Utd which was my only real big signing and got sacked after a 1-0 win at home to West Brom:rant:

Even though I got Exeter into 10th in my first season - we were predicted to finish second bottom, and the only expectation of the board was to fight against relegation - nobody offered me a job.

So I though fine, and now I have Barazite, Gibson and Daniel Sturridge on loan, and I am killing everybody, and am top of the league.

I'm not paying a penny of Sturridge's £40k/week wages, and he has scored 14 in 9 so far. And can play in the cup, and can't be recalled by Chelsea.

I am the king of loans.

Last game of the season, i was one place above relegation zone, and managed to beat bottom of the table plymouth, 3-0 which sent QPR down :D chances are i will be sacked though

Haven't played for a few months but I managed Wealdstone FC and got them up into the Blue Square Premier from the Ryman League Premier. :)

Third season didn't go too great, but just inside the promotion place near the end of season ready for League 2 football.

Stupid really, the clubs's finances are shot (not my fault...no income really) and I need better players and hence higher wages. The attendance has increased from when I took charge (sold 15 season tickets first year) but not enough. Think the club need a few stable years in BSP or BSS to get money up.

I kept an eye on Watford, J.J. O'toole and Mariappa had quite a bit of interest from other clubs. Other than that, not much happened...distinctly mid-table.

Resigned at Celtic after a season (lost in both domestic cup finals to Rangers and at Rangers on final day to lose the title) before resigning a little way into my second season. Watford offered me a job within a month, took that up and now in 2011 (contracted until 2014), one game into the season. Got some superb freebies in - Kieran Richardson, Victor Anichebe, Rob Earnshaw, Marcel Seip and Neil Alexander, drew first match away 1-1 at Huddersfield who scored an offside 92nd minute goal. Gits.

    Team is -

    Alexander
    Mariappa Taylor DeMerit Doyley
    Yeates McGinn Jenkins Richardson
    Graham Anichebe

    Subs: Loach; M.Seip, M.Com*****s, L.Sam, S.Jennings, R.Earnshaw and W.Hoskins

Also kicking about are Eddie Oshodi, John Eustace, Robbie Williams, Omar Koroma and Dave Martin.

Haven't been on here for a while so have alot to update you on, so in the briefest possible fashion.

    Season 1 - Histon - League - BSP - 5th (Pred 13th) Won Play-Offs
    FA Trophy - Second Round
    FA Cup - Second Round
    Season 2 - Histon - League - L2 - 14th
    League Cup - 2nd Round
    JPT - N 1st Round
    FA Cup - 3rd Round

Half way through season 2 I agreed to another club at the end of the season, and that club was...

    Season 3 - Stoke - League - PL - 11th
    League Cup - 3rd Round
    FA Cup - 5th Round
    Season 4 - Stoke - League - PL - 13th
    League Cup - 3rd Round
    FA Cup - 4th Round
    Season 5 - Stoke - League Cup - 3rd Round
    SACKED
    Season 5 - Forest - League - CCC - 11th
    FA Cup - 4th Round
    Season 6 - Forest - League - CCC- 1st
    League Cup - 3rd Round
    FA Cup - 3rd Round
    Season 7 - Forest - League Cup - 2nd Round
    LEFT FOR...
    Season 7 - West Ham - League - PL - 16th
    FA Cup - 4th Round
    Season 8 - West Ham - League - PL - 11th
    League Cup - 4th Round
    FA Cup - 4th Round
    Season 9 - West Ham - League - PL - 10th
    League Cup - Semi Final
    FA Cup - 5th Round
Season 10 - West Ham - League - PL - 7th (Was 4th until last game of the season)
    League Cup - 3rd Round
    FA Cup - 3rd Round
    Season 11 - West Ham - League - 13th
    League Cup - 3rd Round
    FA Cup - 3rd Round

Currently just began Season 12, 3rd in the league after 5 games and in to the league cup 3rd Round.
The poor cup performances with West Ham are because I trust my young players in these games, especially against the lower league teams, and I often come unstuck.
POI - Watford are currently 5th in League 1, after spending a season in the Championship, after 8 years in League 1.

Went sour at Watford, started afresh, won L1 and JPT with Leeds at a canter, 10-12 games into the CCC and bottom and winless. Resigned and they won two on the spin, gits.

Rejected Oldham and Palace and before long L1 Barnsley came in for me. Taking them from 15th to the dizzying heights of 7th before dropping back to 13th in January and on target for 'a respectable finish'. Lost Hammill and Hume for over 2mill to bigger clubs though and had to release a large number mutually due to their unhappiness....

Had my laptop broken for 3 weeks now and missing fiddling with FM2010, so gonna get back into it when it comes back tomorrow.

Just one question, how do you get rid of ellington in the first season?

He is on loan at Xanthi at the beginning of the game if you have the latest update

  15. simms

Yea i know he is, but £10k a week could be put to better causes. Is there no way of ditching him while he is on loan?

I thought Xanthi pay his wage for you when he is on loan?!

They pay 30% of it iirc.

  19. simms

    simms vBookie

What i've been doing is just offering him a new contract at like £9k a week instead of £10k, and offering anyone over about £3k a week a new contract, and they usually want a lower wage then before, so it helps to bring it down a little bit.

You know on the game at the bottom with the bar going across with the little yellow cards on it and things. What does the light green and dark green patches mean?

  21. Prentice

Light green is when the Game Engine is showing highlights, dark green is where nothings happening and it's skipping through commentary.

If you have the latest update a guaranteed way of winning the championship and contesting the cups is by signing: Gaston fernandés on a free, Cristian Fabbiani for around 400K, Fontanello on a free, and Walter Garcia on a free. E.A.S.Y. Have to get rid of a few players though but worth it!

I just use the main countries 1st divisions; France, Germany, Spain, Italy and up to league 2 for England. You may be able to get these guys using other leagues aswell though.

I've decided FM is officially now crap. It's just gotten SO boring, the changes between FM 2008 and now are so minimal that the game has just got massively stale.

I got bored of playing FM 2010, and within a month of FM 2011 I'm bored again because it's basically the exact same game.

  33. StuBoy

    StuBoy Forum Cad and Bounder

I'm still playing, but am getting increasingly frustrated with the same old patterns. More often than not I can predict when the opposition is going to score (normally with their first shot). It's also annoying when consistantly I have so much dominance over a team and then end up losing something like 1-3, when they'd have all three shots go in and I'll have about 20, 2 or 3 of which hit the woodwork. It happens all the time. My strikers miss sitters too, despite then having good finishing and composure attributes. It's just daft. I can imagine if I wasn't unemployed (in real life!) with nothing better to do, I wouldn't play this at all.

Just playing this to get me in the mood for when i get Fm11 soon hopefully.

Started off by randomising me and giving whatever team came up a go. Got charlton to the playoff final in my first year, and was offered a job by qpr which i promptly took. Qpr who were 1 place off relegation i then took to midtable in one season but was fired. Took over at ipswich while they were in the relegation zones and am currently just out of them at the moment in my 3rd year.
