How the fu*k did you get £9,000,000 for Jenkins!? I may have to sell him on mine then, seeing as my first choice midfield is: Weiss, Cleverley, Eustace and Cowie.

Re-started the game the other day after a crap first attempt!

I've won 2 of my first 5 league games.

I beat Doncaster 2-1
I lost 1-0 to Sheff Utd
I lost 2-1 to Notts Forest
I beat Blackpool 2-0
I lost 3-2 at Swansea (Doyley conceeded two penalties :forehead
Next up is Barnsley at home. Cathcart is back from 4 weeks out, so Doyley will be getting the CHOP and Mariappa will go to right-back.

 

I honestly don't know mate. Offered him out for £10m as a joke because Sunderland and West Ham were interested, hoping to maybe get 2-3mil for him tops. I was amazed when Sunderland came in and offered 9 mil!

 

After a few solid hours i completed my first season as Watford boss. Finished a very respectable 7th, just 3 points from the play-offs. However the league position doesn't really do me justice as for the second half of the season we were truly desperate and threw away some great work that saw me challenging for the top 2 at christmas. Still, can't complain as i failed to keep any of Lansbury, Cathcart or Cleverly after the turn of the year.

Started the season by releasing Ellington. It may have cost 800k, but it meant i was able to free up plenty of room on the wage bill, which i added to by selling Eustace, Harley and Sadler for a combined fee of £775k.

Used the money to bring in Rudi Skacel (sold him at the end of the season for £1m), a Spanish winger named Saul for £120k and Lucio Wagner for £130k, an aging Brazilian left back. In January i picked up a young Bulgarian full back named Ivan Bandalovski for £30k and Alex Pinardi, a classy Italian midfielder who scores plenty of goals and plays all across the midfield.

However my trump card was an Icelandic striker by the name of Garoar (spelt with some mad icelandic letters) Johannsson. The man was a machine and smashed in 32 goals in 48 appearances throughout the season. Big and strong, he wins the ball time and time again in box and is known to smash in the odd bullet from 30 yards. Absolute revelation.

During the summer, i released Lee and Hoskins to free up some more space on the wage bill as their contracts were both up and i fancied i could find better replacements on less money. Along with the £1m for Skacel, sold Graham and Wagner for a combined £300k, picking up a couple of bosmans with the extra wage budget. Jose Goncalves came in to partner Demerit at the back, whilst a young Spaniard by the name of Jonathan Soriano was signed on a free to parter my Icelandic legend up front. Loaned in Rhys Murhpy and Jay Simpson from Arsenal to provide competition for places up front and picked up a couple of decent players in Bojan Djordic and Juanpe for a mere £90k combined. All in all, very happy with the squad i have.

Had a solid pre-season after a lot of work was done on my tactics to try and stop leaking so many goals and it seems to have paid off. Top of the champ after 7 games so far. Lets hope it carries on!

 

Yes Luke! Garoar Johnasson is a beast. Signed him in the summer of my second season, and although he's still finding his feet he looks a decent aquisition. I've also signed Saul and he's been in good form for me thus far this season. We've started poorly though, 4 draws and a defeat in the first 5 games.

 

Garoar is a monster. How much did you pay for him? Managed to get him for £60k at the very start because his contract was up at christmas. Saul has been very consistent for me, although i would like a few more goals out of him this season.

I've found it very hard to stop the opposition scoring goals so freely, but after a lot of tweaking and thinking more about how the whole side could defend as one, i think i've made a small breakthrough. I'm hoping to try and consolidate on last season and hit the top 10 again, anything more would a be a bonus. I've got a very young side so assuming i can keep them together, i'm hopeful of achieving promotion in the next few years. Either that or i'll end up coming bottom and losing my job before the season is out.

 

Can't get Sunderland to make an offer for Jenkins, they're 'trying to put together a satisfactory financial package'.

Also dumped Man City out the FA cup which was a laugh.

 

I paid £100k for him, not a bad deal. He's doing well for me, scored a few goals, but I'm in 21st place after 7 games in my second season. 5 draws and 2 defeats - I've let 2 goal leads slip against Birmingham and Plymouth noteably. I'm miffed. I've got to arrest the slump while I still can.

 

I found that zonal marking instead of man marking helped a lot because players weren't getting dragged out of position as much. And also asking my players to retain possession when i've got a decent lead. Substitutions late in games to keep players fresh as well and cut down on mistakes through tiredness.

Throwing away leads was a massive cause of my slump in form last season, spent a lot of time over pre-season trying to make the team a lot more solid. Will let you know if the changes have been a false dawn!

Also looks like i should cash in on Jenkins!!! Can't believe you guys got that much for him!

 

I have not purchased this game yet (maybe cos' I've only just got back from holiday!). This is the first time I haven't brought a FM/CM game on the day of release. Is it worth getting then?

This is the best FM in years! The new layout is amazing. only bad thing i wuld say is that it is a bit easy with some teams, and i'm not talking about City. I was Tottenham for one game and i finished the league in 2nd spot, and i had robbie keane and jermaine defoe both score over 30 goals in a season.
i sold modric for 30 mill to utd and i only bought di maria and milito and Defour and i bossed it.

maybe i'm just really good?
playing a notts county game for a bit of fun now. just won league 2 with a tally of 115 points.

ok, so ive started a new game.

i firstly tried to offer jenkins out for 10m as mentioned by some others above, sunderland bid 9m, i accepted, but then at the last minute they pulled out, this happened twice, so in the end i just offered jenkins a new contract.

i released ellington and richard lee and brought in two replacements on free transfers in the form of willy topp and lars stubhaug.

my preseason went well, stand out results being a 8-0 drubbing on northwood town, and close losses to chelsea and aston villa, whilst drawing with wolves.

first game of the season, was perhaps one of the most boring games ever witnessed, a 0-0 at home to doncaster in which my mix of youngsters and experience only mustered a paltry one shot on target, with 13 long shots.

next up was the league cup against wycombe, stuck a couple of youngsters in notably lee hodson and stubhaug. went 1 nil down after 10 minutes, due to carthorse making a defensive mistake. equalised through graham on the stroke of half time. in the 80th minute lloyd get sent off for a second bookable offence, and in the first minute of extra time wycombe grabbed a 2-1 lead. my 10 men rallied well though and after introducing liam henderson and my last sub harley at left back, we got an equaliser through tom cleverlys stunning strike (think young vs fulham). just after half time extra time danny graham found space in the box and fired in his second of the game, to give me a 3-2 lead. don cowie then got injured and without subs i had to finish the game with 9 men, but we managed to hold on.

I haven't played with watford yet, but surely you are going to struggle with that squad! I'm wycombe and have also signed topp and stubhaug, they are good in league 1 but doubt will cut it in the championship; I just can't see you scoring enough goals. Good luck though!

My wycombe game is coming along nicely. Mackay was sacked by watford after only 12 or so games, and I was favourite to take the job, but I denied any interest in it, as I've got something good going on at wycombe, I'm 10th in the league

 

Is it worth getting now and paying for it, or Christmas and getting it for free?

I'm not sure if i'm patient enough.

 

hehe your certainly right, i am definately lacking in goals.

since my last update i have played up to the barnsley game of the season, and ironically have got exactly the same points in the same games as real life watford.

my poor opening day draw to donny and consequent win at wycombe, was followed by a 1-0 loss to sheffield utd and an away win at notts forest. i then squandered leads and drew 1-1 with both blackpool and swansea before claiming a 2-1 at home to barnsley, with graham and hoskins scoring.

in answer to my rather lightweight strikeforce, i have tried desperately to bring in a target man. i tried to get heidar on loan, but qpr refused and i couldnt afford a permanent view. i tried to sign henri camara on a free as cover for hoskins, and the deal was all but complete when he got a hip injury whilst playing for my reserves on trial. mark viduka came on a trial, but i decided not to offer him a contract, as im just not sure he is worth 5k a week.

to give myself more attacking options i completed the loan signing of nathan porritt (winger/forward from boro) and andy van der meyde on a one year contract at 2k per week, very good deal imo. i also have signed zavon hines on a 3 month emergency loan to provide some extra competition up front for hendo.

i still look lightweight but currently sit in 9th place, so im not complaining.

 

dukes IS worth the money, scored 12 in 8 for me

 

So after a brief flirt with the play offs, a draw with cardiff condemned me to mid table mediocrity but it was a good season of consolidation.

Couldn't get Graham scoring, but Foran and Harewood did the business towards the end of the year.

Highlights of the season: Knocking Man City and Fulham out of the cup.

Tried to flog RJ but couldn't get some of the prices quoted on here, i'm considering a 3.6 mill offer from burnley.

Havent done any transfers as before i entered the game i added heidar helguson as he is currently playing for us. Still in pre season only started playing a couple of hours ago.

Good start to the season, sitting 6th in the table, lost heavily to sheff utd 4-1 though. Will Hoskins is firing them in with 7 goals in 7 games.

Got the game for free, and it is very good, watford don't start with alot of transfer money which is hard! Lansbury is very good on the game aswell. I'd reccomend getting the game because when you're bored it gives you something to do!

 

But also, when you have important coursework to do! It's too distracting!:forehead:
