After 10 wins in my final 12 games, Watford Fc are in the Premiership after pipping Sheff Utd to 2nd place by a point. The highlight of the run-in being a 6-2 win at Brammall Lane with 8 games remaining.

Jay Simpson on loan from Arsenal scored an incredible 11 goals in 6 games during the final games including 4 in the win at Sheff Utd.

Garoar Johannsson continued his stunning form from last season with 29 league goals to his name whilst Jonathan Soriano smashed in 20 league goals to fully justify his free transfer during pre-season.

Other stars were Scott Loach, Juanpe, Cowie and Alex Pinardi, whilst Saul kept popping up with free kicks in important games.

I was hoping to build on the good work in the first season and consolidate with a top half finish, never did i expect promotion, especially after a run of 5 straight defeats at christmas.

Undoubtedly there will be changes this summer, but this group of players will always be heros in my eyes.

 

I've just sold The Icelandic Legend Garoar, Luke, it never really worked out for him. I got 950k from Ipswich for him, but I'm hopeful I can pull off a MASSIVE coup and tempt Michael Owen to the Vic on a free.

In other news, I'm now also the Honduras manager.

Got it today. I take it starting off with Watford is pretty hard?

 

Ok so I've bitten the bullet and got the game. Couldn't be arsed with starting with a big club as I can't handle the pressure. Therefore I've thrown a bit of a curved ball and joined Annan Athletic in the Scots 3rd division for a challenge. We've been smashed in our friendlies and are out of the league and challenge cups already (although in the league cup we went 1-0 up at St.Johnstone before having two defenders sent off!). First league game is away at Elgin City and I'll no doubt report on progress, although I must admit my heart doesn't seem to be in FM anymore these days.......

 

Join the club StuBoy. It lost me sometime around mid 2007 during an epic multi-season game with Dortmund which got corrupted and wouldn't load. 3 months of keeping it alive by only putting my laptop in hibernation was a good effort but in the end the plug had to be pulled. Never been the same since :dismay:

 

My Watford/Woking game went **** up as previously mentioned so i started a new game with Notts County.

Having taken over in the summer you get a reasonable £1M to spend initially and by the end of the August transfer window i'd bought 8 new players into the club and sold Delroy Facey to Hereford for nothing. Others went on the transfer list but haven't left the club and are sitting in the reserves until the summer when their deals expire.

Tranfers


Luka Senicanin(ST), Gary Frewen(ML), Lars Stubhaug(GK), Luke Powell(ST) and Adam McGurk(ST) are all ones for the future. I thought Tyson would destroy this league but whilst he's been decent, Lee Hughes and Karl Hawley have kept him out of the side, mind you it certainly hacked off the Forest fans :]]

Martis has been an absolute rock at the back, who needs Sol Campbell ? Idiakez has been a creative force in the middle of the park, deployed as a deep lying playmaker he sits and pulls the strings whilst pinging in a few long range goals, a joy to watch.

The board gave me £2.8M to spend in January and i signed up Matty Ritchie on a permanent deal for a club record £1.7M, sured up the defence with the signings of Gilbert (my loanee RB returned to Forest) and O'Halloran whilst El Zhar has given me more options in midfield.

Squad


As shown, Hughes and Hawley have been in lethal form this season contributing to our 73 league goals in 32 games.

9 points clear at the top with 14 games to go and we've been top since the start of October, if we'd turned a few of those draws into wins we'd be out of sight. Expectations were to get promoted and we're on course to go one better and win the league.

Any tips

 

Normally you would look at getting in free agents always a few good ones but as you have 6m :s I would get Ebi Smolerek if you can maybe Jorge Andrade

I usually get 2 per position as well so a main first team squad of 22 with adequate replacement in reserves if players recieve long term injuries.

Also when in a league with a chance of promotion always use the loan system well. I have noticed on this years one plenty of class players getting loaned out who are very good for championship level such as Darron Gibson, Fabio, Jack Wilshere and Kieran Gibbs to name a few off the top of my head only just started playing it though so probably some more.

 

After a week of will I wont I, I've finally decided to order the game on Amazon (only £22!). Also finally got the demo downloaded so have a few days to get used to it.

Looks like there are some very decent free transfers at the start, which i assume is vital as i imagine we start with £0 and 0p

 

When I had the demo I also manages County and bought Tyson and he scored about 30 just in the league for me, immense signing

Having downloaded the demo, I proceeded to be 18th by the end of September, and at a loss as to what to do.

What are good formations and tactics to use? I tried loads. I also found it really difficult to sign anyone useful. It will be easier obviously when I get the full version, but it was laborious just to play the bloody thing. This game is annoying.

I found three ex-champion leaguers but they all got leaked so I lost out, I mutualled ellington for £1m and got rid of Eustace for a minimal fee. I brought in Viduke, some crappers on loan who couldn't get in the first team, and the Finnish international captain who was 38 and utter shyte, even though he had 4 and half stars according to Dyche's view.

I pissed around alot with the formations but generally all that would happen was I would concede a million goals having gone in the lead fist, no matter waht I did.

All I can say is booooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo.

We didn't stutter and cruised to the league two title finishing 16 points clear of 2nd place and managing to reach the 100 points mark, scoring 102 goals in the process. Pleased to have won at a canter but the hard work begins in league one and it'll be a good test for my squad which has seen a few changes over the summer.



The board's minimum expectations were to finish in a respectable league position, sounds reasonable and more than doable with the squad i've got, then the bookies made us 3/1 favourites for the title which took me by suprise. The board backed their expectations with a wage budget of 125K per week, meaning i was about 75K under going into the summer and a hefty transfer budget of £4M. Here's how i spent it...



The deadwood was cut from the squad and both Shackell and Heffernan are experienced player at Championship level so should be able to shine in league one. Mihaylov is the Bulgaria No.1 who got released by Liverpool and will provide good competition for Kasper Schmeichel. Tudor-Jones will add some presence in midfield. Possebon was a great signing, available for loan at United i thought i'd offer £1.8M which was his value and they accepted, he said he wasn't interested but i offered him about 6K per week (10x his current wage) and to my shock he accepted.

My league one campaign is just about to get underway, 'mon County!

 

Anyone who is in to a long season with watford. Can you let me know once o'toole is back is he worth playing or selling?

Secondly to change transfer budget to 0 and to increase wages.

Got rid of Ellington for £500k and sold Eustace to West Brom for £95k and Sadler for 300k to Notts County.

Happy enough with my dealings, feel the squad should achieve a midtable finish at the very least.

Started as Watford, and the first thing i have tried to do is reduce the wage bill, i started 11 grand over my wage budget 9is that the same for every one else!) . So i though i would look at fat man Duke and he took a 40% pay cut, Sadler is on the verge of being sold for 80k, and Hoskins is currently on loan at Peterborough and 40% of his wages are being paid for. I loaned out Oshodi to Barnet, and Hodson to Leeds for the full season but can recall both if need be.

I tried to sell Jenkins and was prepared to take anything over 4mill for him but only 2.5 was offered by Fulham so i turned it down.

I bought in Soley, Topp, and Clauber ( or something like that Brazilian CB for free, played for Juventus a long time ago)all on frees, Currently negotiating a seaosn long loan for Bostock.

Have won my first 3 friendlies against my reserve team 5-1, Bristol Rovers 3-1 and Northwood 6-2 the Duke Scoring 7 of those goals lol we can dream.

I think if im honest all watford are missing in a good goal scorer and they will have a fairly decent team so i think i will look at this Johannson Bloke your on about!

 

Suddenly I fancy playing as Watford again!

The bit in bold may be your problem - the game has developed that much that these days if you chop and change tactics the players get confused and lose confidence. Have you tried the tactics wizard? It's a new thing this version and seems to work well.

Would also suggest that when you get the full game you load more leagues into your game. This gives a bigger pool of players to choose from.

Pure jubilation in the Warehouse-hold (see what I did there?) at about 1.30 this morning as I dumped Chelsea out of the cup with a 2-1 win at the Vic. Cowie opened the scoring, then Mateja Kezman notched against his former club. Anelka made it a nervy last 20 minutes, before both he and Mikel were sent off and we coast to victory, leading to me being carried off on the shoulders of the fans..... or something like that.

...We then got stuffed 1-4 at the Vic by Wigan in R5.
