He’s always been crap, just because he comes out with the cookie cutter ‘it’s not good enough’ statements every few months he doesn’t get a pass. Goalkeeper is an area we need to prioritise upgrading this summer.
Yep - terrible keeper if we want any ambitions to go up. That's twice in recent weeks deflecting ball back into danger area and cost us points. People say great shot stopper - that is what he is there for. Yesterday should have parried ball out for corner and not back knto 6 yard line
Obviously not going anywhere this side of the summer but fark me he’s awful. Great save tonight in the first minute but only needed because he fumbled a routine collection on the floor seconds before and teed it up nicely for them to have another crack. Another save in the second half, albeit again he’s stood on his own goal line from a set piece and luckily the Burnley player puts it straight at him from 2yds. His kicking is disgraceful. Panicked, aimless hoofs to no one or even worse spooned straight up in the air or out of play. Really good vibes for a keeper to give to his teammates when they’re under pressure. Think there was 15 mins in the second half where every single kick was laughably atrocious. And his reaction to this is to flap his arms around gesticulating and gobbing off at his teammates. Replacing him with a competent goalkeeper in the summer is a must.
I don't disagree with us finding a new No1 in the summer, but he kept us in the game tonight, and not for the 1st time, so give him credit when credit is due.
Awful keeper. Him hopping around 2 yards behind the goal line for the Burnley goal sums up his ability. Awful distribution as well, and has the charm of rating himself very highly. Must get rid.
What did he do to keep us in the game? I’ve covered his two notable saves in my post and didn’t see anything else from him. He made a couple of other routine saves from shots that were straight at him and that was it in the positive column. Everything else was trash. What did you make of his kicking? Or his role in organising his teammates for the corner at the end?
I am not a Bachmann fan, as I made clear in my earlier post, but I hate to see players getting OTT stick from people when it is not entirely due. As for Kabaselle, what did he do wrong tonight? And yet he is still getting slagged off. He may not be the most reliable player but he gets far to much stick from our fans, because he is far from being a bad overall player .
He’s a dreadful player over extended sample size. Tend to agree he didn’t do anything wrong today but every time I see his face it makes me weep.
He’s poor and the defenders have zero confidence in him. Gaspars face after conceding the corner said it all.
He's is, and always has been, s**t. How the f**k he ever ended up being our number one I truly have no idea.
You are pants-on-head, stark raving mad if you can make a claim like that at this point in the Watford career of Christian Kabasele. Utterly flying in the face of 5 years of available evidence.
So true. He was a free from Stoke in 2017 with Kazmenis and Gomes in front of him. We then brought in Foster and Gomes was still ahead of him. Gomes was still ahead of him in the season that we effectively kept him on to be Pedro's babysitter.
I think Bachmann has improved this season. He is coming for crosses more than he has in previous seasons, but the last couple of games has seen him fall into bad habits. Why was he so far behind his line for the equaliser? That’s just nuts. His kicking was atrocious last night too. Putting us on the back foot every time. But he still makes fantastic saves. That one in the first minute was exceptional. The one where he cleared it off the line was pretty good too. Some elements of keeping with him are outstanding but he has far too many flaws to his game. We probably do need an upgrade, as his understudy is truly appalling. We need a more reliable and rounded keeper for next season.
I don't think he's the worst in the league by a long way but his kicking last night was awful. It either went straight out for a throw or miles over any of our forward players and straight to their keeper. When you are hanging on for dear life you need to try and keep the ball but this kicking just gave it back to them
I'm not his biggest fan and I would prefer an upgrade, but right now he is the best we have got and we should get behind him as he is not that bad a keeper, not good but not bad either.
Will be interesting to see what funds if any are available to spend in the summer, and where they are spent. Other than Okoye, have we ever spent money on a keeper ? Maybe an experienced freebee can be found. Another Gomes/ Almunia ?
If/when we stay down we will have to stick with Bachmann I guess. I’d like to see Okoye given a month if we drift out of contention just to see if he really is as bad as his small sample size has shown!
I would agree with this. He's not great but there will be other positions that will be more important when you think we will lose Sarr, Pedro, Davis, The Hair, Kamara and possibly Louza. plus those out of contract that will hopefully not be renewed
If I had to say something positive about Bachmann, it would be that I would prefer him to be in goal for us than Burnley's first half keeper last night.
The followers and likes stats look amazing. Need to see his heat map though and the funny spiders’ web charts to check how many things he’s catching, or whatever.
I've never seen a keeper stand in their own net quite so much. More scared of crosses than Dracula... But oddly I've grown to like him this season. Improved (yes he was once much worse at standing behind his line) and has saved us a few times this season.
Blaming the pitch for not being able to stop Burnley scoring . https://www.watfordobserver.co.uk/s...-keeper-slipped-tried-stop-burnley-equaliser/ Think it was more down to the poor marking really in the first place .
Hope that will teach him a lesson. Far too often he stands behind his own goal line. He was in a ridiculous position to try and save the goal. At least 3 feet behind the line. He may well have slipped but he shouldn’t be standing on the Astro in the first place. Just come off your line a deal with the cross. But it’s nothing new with him, it’s just a major flaw in his game.
I think he is best of the rest, not as good as Coton, Gomez, Miller etc better than Suckling, Digweed, Lee etc
Haven't read the recent posts but please god tell me people aren't defending this utterly hopeless sack of shyte. The sort of arrogant whopper who reads fan forums to see how loved he is. (Hint, you're not).
