Thought he made some really good saves (one of which unfortunately counted for nothing as they scored soon after), although in the end he'll be breathing a sigh of relief!
Got away with one tonight. Could have cost us points again - he has cost us too many this season for me all this talk about good stops - that’s his bloody job. The save against Burnley in 1st few minutes came about because he did not pick up a routine ball a few seconds before. 99% of keepers would have picked it up and not passed it out to an opposition player to shoot!
A real hit and miss this guy, some great saves but what a howler for that goal. We really need an upgrade at the end of the season, but I would not be adverse to him staying on as our No2.
His kicking is horrendous. Why we choose to play it out from the back with him between the sticks is baffling, but then I suppose the only other option is to try and go long and put it towards Granite Davis. Either way the ball is coming straight back.
Panicky, sets the tone for the whole defence. Not once did he come out from that corner to grab the ball, do you know how often balls into our box stay alive? There’s a second, third, fourth chance because BACHMANN WONT COME OFF HIS ******* LINE!!!! No matter how well we defend, we’ll concede with this clown, good shot stopper that’s all, the rest of his game is a massive hindrance to the whole team right now.
I mean Okaye can’t be this bad can he? Can he!!?? We spent £6m on a guy worse that Bachman. Not possible!
Totally agree with this. His a shot stopper and that's all. He doesn't read the game well, he doesn't command his box and isn't particularly brave. He is a decent back up but no more than that.
There was a moment yesterday when the players were bunched over towards our left flank. The ball was worked back to Bachmann and it couldn't have been a better chance for him to play it out to the right. Inexplicably he took a touch with his right, sending the ball to his left foot (I swear he's right footed? Might be wrong) and then got pressed and had to shank it up the pitch with his left. Will have to find the clip and make sure I'm right but I'm sure that's what happened
Okoye is definitely better than what he's shown us so far, his time in the Netherlands proves it, and he'd surely show it if he had a run in the team, but the problem with him is that he's too similar to Bachmann in that he's a decent shot-stopper, but poor with the ball at his feet and doesn't command his area
Wasn't quite how I remembered, play wasn't as bunched up on the left as I thought, but Porteous sprinted to get into a position to receive and that pass would've been the simplest option but instead Bachmann takes the ball to his left which instantly limits his options, he goes long and we lose the ball. Superb.
Anyone can make an error of course but passing to the Hamster from five yards and not doing it well is pretty dreadful, even for someone with banana feet!
He did that multiple times last night as well, no benefit at all in doing what he does. Even forces him to go long with his weaker foot which is even more baffling.
Absolutely. Both Alisson and Lloris make massive mistakes. I hope one day we return to proper keepers. Playing around the defence is a disease in this current era of football.
Must be Monday after a defeat.. https://www.watfordobserver.co.uk/sport/23348439.watford-keeper-bachmann-errors-led-winning-goal/ I presume no one called out including the keeper to make anyone aware a tall skinny Scottish chap was standing unmarked at the back post..
The Bachmann saves are nothing more that what any fan would expect their keeper to do, but as is clearly obvious every game, his distribution is terrible and he is not call Flapman for no reason. He does not command the area and his decision making makes him a liability. A keeper has a full arms length height advantage. If the ball comes in anywhere near the 6 yard box that should be his. On the flip side, players have to man mark. Even from grass roots it was always defend your man and if that man scored, that was fully on you. Mcburnie is one of sheff utd strikers, he should have a man on him at all times. A man on each post also seems to have been lost over the years, it needs to be taken back to basics
Teams seem to do more zonal marking trying to mark space than a man but yes still need to be aware of the attackers making runs.
To make up for his inability to deal with crosses and his total lack of presence/cojones, he would have to be making a couple of worldie saves each match rather than the odd routine save that any keeper should make. He is a real liability and we desperately need to go back to the days of having a 35yr old experienced pro between the sticks. Ideally one without a go-pro.
Pulls off some great saves but his lack of being able to do the basics and the way he panics sometimes for no reason is worrying. Has to be replaced in the summer no matter what division we are in.
Bachmann was at fault for their goal, not the actual goal, but the corner before hand. It was again a situation where coming off his line and claiming it, and not flapping it, causing another corner kick which they scored from. Goal was preventable before they had the chance and Bachmann's comon error of failing to come for a ball has yet again lost us two vital points.
the inability of the midfield to attack at fast pace, the inability of the attack to create a decent shooting position, the inability of any player in yellow to control a pass are far greater reasons why we dropped two points vs our keeper
Good point. But I do still feel he could of dealt with the corner before their goal better. Fitness levels are on the floor, player mentality is shot and has been all season. Three managers' a season compounds the circus we are right now.
Didn't we have approx 3 attempted clearances which didn't get very far in between the corner and the goal? If I remember correctly, Pedro also stopped tracking their guy out wide and nobody really bothered closing down the crosser. I think about 5 players made mistakes between Bachmann's 'flap' and the ball hitting the net, I'm not sure you can pin the blame on him! ***Disclaimer: I have not seen a replay so may have imagined all this***
Signing Okoye was another dodgy laughable decision. So we'll have to replace two average keepers thanks to Gino's decision making. Should have sold him when he was at his peak post Euro.
Bachmann dropped from the Austria squad but reckons he's playing the "best season of [his] life". Errr ok mate. http://sportwitness.co.uk/watford-m...ision-strong-slap-face-frustrated-season-far/
