While this is terrible on our part, and horrible for Dan who had performed dutifully in a (relatively) unfamiliar position, I wonder if this actually will encourage us to dip into the market for a RB?
Yeah, I think that was about the most angry I've ever seen an injured player. Obviously he knew what he'd done before he even left the pitch.
I was playing yesterday and a few friends told me about it. Poor sod. Best wishes Dan. Let's hope for the best.
Just recovering from an Achilles snap myself - that’s his season over but hopefully with good physio he should be back next season
I believe his contract ends in July so this would have been very much on his mind as he would have wanted to play as many games as possible to put himself in the picture for his next move/contract. No wonder he was not happy!
No point. Just do what we did with Gosling - plug a surplus midfielder in there. Maybe Clevs? Bound to be fit soon.
While I am unaware of Cleverley ever playing there, I do fear this won't budge the Pozzos, especially as Ngakia and Gaspar should be available after the break
Apparently he wanted come off but the medical team said he was good to stay on and then his Achilles ruptured a few minutes later.
When we talked about players playing on through the pain barrier, we didn't mean through a potentially season/career ending Achilles injury!
If he really had wanted to go off due to potential injury, then why didn't he do what many footballers are prone to do now and sit down on the pitch to either receive treatment or ensure the game was paused until he could be subbed?
Gosling has left the club Watford have reached an agreement with midfielder Dan Gosling to terminate his contract early. The 33-year-old has been ruled out until the end of the season with injury which coincides with the end of his contract at the Championship club. There is no prospect of the midfielder playing as he wasn’t named in Watford’s squad after the January transfer window closed. Discussions have been ongoing since the start of the year over a settlement, which has been amicably reached.
Don't really get why we've terminated his contract really. We've surely paid it out in full, was due to expire in 3 months anyway and he's still injured and out for the season so can't sign for anyone else. Can't see any advantage in that for anyone.
Gosling or Cleverly ? Club plump for considering contract for Cleverly... Baffling decision making continuing
Refusing to pay the extra canteen bill. Taking up valuable medical resources. He had to go.. Seriously, his injury was a shame as he was filling in well at any position requested, and had a great attitude which rubbed off on others - which we certainly need right now.. Good luck Dan, and Thankyou …
Should honestly just rebrand as a charity - treating players out of contract, giving away 3 points most weeks, massively overspending on players etc.
Seems a bit pointless except wasting money . Mind you knowing us we’ll probably offer him a new deal when fit .
I think that's the only reason that makes sense, think it did mention that he wanted to get into coaching in The Athletic article.
