Hope he is off to Wednesday in the summer

Actually I completely blame Jurado, whether that's his preferred position or not - he had the opportunity to put in at least 5 crosses yesterday from similar positions to Berghuis' which led to the goal, but he time and again got his head up, then dallied on the ball, rejected the idea and turned backwards. Also, even if he had opted to cross it more often, he doesn't have enough strength in his right foot to match the impressive whip which Berghuis managed on his left, so he wouldn't have been as effective anyway.

I think the issue is will Berghuis want to stay. I couldn't blame him for pushing for a move in the summer - albeit a change in manager may change that.

Berghuis will stay. No worries there.

If you read my previous posts you'll see I'm definitely not a Jurado fan!
On the wing he's ineffective, lightweight and slow. He's looked better in the middle.
However I didn't blame him as he's been consistently poor in that position so his performance was not a surprise.

That's a fair challenge as in the semi final he showed he can put in a good cross from that side but I agree he repeatedly didn't try that in this match.

With Flores AND Jurado going, will you even care anymore? Add to that the possibility of Vydra coming back with the chance to impress as well.

    Tough week for Hornet23.

Cold stats are used by accountants to justify their existence and over-inflated salaries. They have little use in football, where the 'feel' of the game is more important. I'd rather we have a 25% success rate of attempted passes/crosses into the danger areas of the box than 88% success rate of gentle passes around the back.

Is that Suarez's fault that there were zero forward passes to make in the first half? Troy and Odion didn't move, I watched them whenever Watson and Suarez had the ball and they just didn't move! You'd think with Villa playing wing backs and 3 centre backs marking them they'd move out to the channels at least.

Oh and stats have little use in football? You probably want to tell that to most professional clubs in England then.

Yup! The only stats that really matter are the league tables :)

For example what does it usefully tell us if X has run 10km during a match whilst Y has run 8? Or X has made 80% successful passes compared to Y's 60%? There are too many variables for them to be meaningful in the slightest: their age, their position, their strengths & weaknesses, your team's tactics, the opposition's tactics, the referee's decisions etc. Utter pointless s h i t, the lot of it!

We know if someone, or the team is playing well or not, we don't need stats to tell us that. I don't hate Suarez, but he's either not good enough or QSF is not allowing him to be good enough.

"There are lies, damned lies and statistics" said someone, once.

    Quique to QPR .

    You heard it here first.

Or Palace.... or possibly West Brom. Like for like replacement with Pulis.

He doesn't want to move from Hampstead as he's moved his whole family over who are now settled. So can't see him going to a club outside of London or possibly Brum.

Villa might not be a bad shout.

EDIT don't know why I posted this in the Berghuis thread.

Came on for Holland tonight for his 1st cap, and made the difference according to Danny Blind, the Dutch manager!

Well done Steven, lets hope you make the difference for WFC next season :sign15:

WDSports have got some interesting quotes from Netherlands coach Danny Blind in this excellent article:

    http://www.wdsport.co.uk/2016/05/danny-blind-i-hope-berghuis-gets-more-football-at-watford/?

I think their quotes may shed some light on why Berghius didn't feature much last season, sounds like he has some physiological problems. Either that or WDSports have just chucked some quotes from elsewhere into Google Translate without bothering to tidy them up (seems pretty unlikely though as firstly, they're Herts top sports website and secondly, they would never post something without attributing it correctly).

Ha ha, surely that just means he is left footed but playing on the right?

Right as in correct. It sounds to me like Danny Blind carried out a stringent medical test before selecting him for the squad.

Bit worrying that he's only confirmed the left leg is in the correct position then. What about the right leg, it could be anywhere...

I searched his name of Twitter to see what people were saying about him, and using the translate feature on Twitter, i've since learnt his name translated means 'Mountain house'.

Anyway, the reviews of Mountain House are very good on Twitter.

Good enough for the Netherlands but not good enough for a team who scored about 8 goals in 2016. **** off Quique.
