Do we have anything credible suggesting the link to this guy is justified ? 72 posts based on just that one article ?

Kicker are one of the biggest German football outfits and has been confirmed by Sky Sports in Germany (who first broke the news that he was leaving for England).

Well we do already know about the SPAC takeover of Udinese and in part us, no? Perhaps this suggests there's more investment being made as part of that then some might suspect?

It would surely be a bit odd if we were to sell Udinese and 10% of ourselves that some investor only to sell the ownership to someone else straight after?

I’m not suggesting they would buy and then immediately sell.

More that the details quoted might be wrong.

I can understand why he wants to leave Frankfurt. He had a good relationship with the previous coach who has now left and it sounds like they have brought someone in on top of him potentially changing his role. He may also be looking for a new challenge after 6 years or so in situ.

The question is then why would he come here of all places. I suppose English football seems to be the focal point of the sport these days and there are only a handful of clubs above us, if any, who are seeking a DoF and willing to empower them at this time.

I saw the lists of success stories but how many players did he bring in to get that success? Are we talking about throwing sh1t at a blanket or is this chap the real deal. If he is, what bl00dy hell is he doing coming here? Fancied a challenge?

Obviously impossible to say how many of those players were down to him specifically, but during his time there Frankfurt turned a profit from player sales whilst moving up from a club threatened by relegation to solidly mid-table/challenging for Europe which is always a positive sign when analysing transfer success.

In his 7 years there they bought in 64 players on permanent transfers (an average of 9 per season). On transfermarkt you can see transfer flows, which is a record of where clubs have bought/loaned players from and gives a decent insight into how clubs approach transfers

Eintrachts transfer record over the last 7 seasons looks to be pretty mixed - targeting permanent transfers + loans from a variety of big name clubs (AC Milan, Real Madrid, PSG, Fiorentina, Dortmund, Benfica) as well as targeting players on permanent transfers from top clubs in smaller more affordable markets that still generate top players (Brondby, PSV, Dinamo Zagreb etc) which to me sounds a relatively solid strategy. They look to target young players - they have the 7th lowest average squad age in the Bundesliga this season, which again is generally a good idea to generate money from transfers. Interesting looking at our transfer flow over the same period, obviously heavily reliant on Udinese but also heavily reliant on taking scraps off of rival domestic clubs, often of a similar level.

Hopefully he doesn’t have an interest in signing defenders. And if he does, then he’d better lose it fast.

I have two simple questions, does Manga have Instagram and does he post pictures of norks?

If he doesn't then I don't see how he's an upgrade on Giaretta.

Ironically a CB has been one of their biggest successes, they signed a 19 year old Evan N'Dika from Auxerre for £5.5m back in 2018, now 23 he's played 160 Bundesliga games and has played for thr French U21 team and will likely move on in the next season or 2 and earn Frankfurt a hefty profit (valued at 32m on transfermarkt!)

Only possible explanation for this is that he's been offered a sell on %. Cant see any other explanation for him joining Watford.

What like that awful MTV show called "Pimp My Ride"? Lol I know most of our squad needs an overhaul but that would be quite a sight. :p I would love to see where these "millions" are, unless he meant "a million empty promises..."

Did you not read the article? They have a new Sporting Director, which appeared to have sidelined the influence of Manga, despite him having done quite well. The Sporting Director and Manga also have different approaches to recruitment.

"But the pearl diver's influence was fading, and with the enthronement of the new sports director Markus Kr*sche, his expertise was less in demand. The relationship between the sports management around Kr*sche and license player manager Timmo Hardung and Ben Manga is considered burdened, both sides have not come together. They also take a different approach. Ben Manga is a scout of old, traveling the world to get a comprehensive picture of the players based on his own local experiences. Kr*sche and his team are breaking new ground, relying more on data and examining potential approaches. The chemistry wasn't really right either

How does what you have said here contradict what UEA said?

  28. lowerrous

    lowerrous First Team

I didn't say that they contradict.

My point is that UEA was saying it "sounds like they're not fussed about him going then" based on them not wanting compensation.

But the article explains that he'd actually already been sidelined, in which case you would not need to infer that they're not fussed based on them not wanting compensation - the fact that they'd sidelined him already is the root explanation of why they're not fussed and thus would be a strange thing to omit from the article if you were summarising it to make that point.

It's like saying to someone that it sounds like a person is dead because you heard someone else on their phone to the police reporting a murder, despite the fact you saw the person actually being shot to begin with. It's not incorrect, just not the most obvious way to talk about the event if you'd been paying attention.

The thing is had it not actually been UEA I wouldn't have bothered asking the question alongside it. It's because UEA is generally one of the closer readers on here that I was a bit surprised.
