So we've put terms on the table for Taylor permanently, encouraging to see!

I don't like the sound of that, it sounds like if Boro were to offer him a decent deal he would prefer to stay with them :dismay:

Sounds like he is going to stay there. Not surprising since he is a local lad and their academy product.

Still, he might come down here, you never know. If he doesn't then good luck to him.

I agree, have have a funny feeling we'll be seeing him at the Vic real soon.

I'd also like to point out that all the talk about his current wages are pure speculation, no one knows for sure.

Taylor will know for himself who's got the better chance of promotion this year.. with that in mind, I'm pretty sure he'd rather join us!

Yeah fair comment, I'm keeping my fingers crossed anyway. Would LOVE to see him back here.

If he does sign, he gets my vote for goal of the season.. if he doesnt, the vote goes elsewhere.

Mr Taylor, that trophy would look lovely above the fireplace :)

Don't talk such nonsense, switch it around.

You are inbetween Watford, languishing in lower-mid table of the Championship and your hometown club, you've never really played anywhere else and love the club, it's where all your family are and where you stand the chance of a better contract but might play slightly less football, you didn't like the management before but a new guy has come in and improved things vastly off the pitch, with on the field hopefully to follow as you are led to believe.

    or

Crystal Palace, an unattractive average Championship club currently beating expectations and flirting with the playoffs, can't pay you as much but can guarantee you first team football, you don't have any real affiliation with the side other than a loan spell for 4 months or so there.

  10. kingjames77

    kingjames77 Squad Player

    Yeah I see your point.

However, 10 reasons why he should sign for Watford

    1) Promotion with Watford would guarantee a huge pay rise within the next 6 months.
    2) No chance of that happening at Boro this season which means a min of 18 months till that pay rise
    3) No LB at Watford means GUARANTEED 1st team football
    4) Goal of the Season trophy. (It'll go elsewhere if he doesnt sign)
    5) Danny Grahams from Middlesboro
    6) And Josh Walker
    7) They could hire a camper van and travel home together to see family etc, that would be nice
    8) Have you been to Middlesborough? It's awfully depressing.
    9) And it rains a lot.
    10) Martin Taylor is probably his dad/grandad.

    1) We are almost certainly NOT going to be promoted. We can all be optimistic about it but eventually we will lose and drop down the table. He doesn't have to be optimistic like we do.
    2) He will kick himself if he stays with us, we don't go up and then in 18 months Boro are promoted while we languish in the Chumpionshyte.
    3) Yes.
    4) Irrelevant.
    5) Tim Lovejoy is from Watford, it doesn't mean I would stay in Watford to be near him.
    6) Ditto
    7) Ditto
    8) Watford is a dump too, and he is actually from Boro so he would like it.
    9) True that.
    10) Blood runs thicker than water.

I would add though that if he stays at Boro he will only be playing as a left midfielder. Whether that is something he wants to adapt to is going to have to be considered by him too, because they aren't going to be playing anyone except Bennett at LB.

    alright boys...

im new and this is my first post......long time listener, first time caller.....

At least we've made the offer, and we needed to get in quickly - cant have him getting into Boro 1st team and starting to enjoy it (playing time)

He made his first start and won 4-0 - if he continues to play, the more likely he is to stay.

So we've done well, considering he did play, getting a bid in on the monday morning after.

    i agree.

    welcome aboard CM.

i think there are a lot of reasons for him to both stay and go, although personally agree that he could acheive far more for us in the short term.

    do the right think tayls.

    Wow you're optimistic aren't you?

I am not getting carried away right now, I'm being very level headed actually. But I DO think that if we were to get Andy Taylor back, and maybe one or two other cheeky loanees to add to the strength in depth in the squad, there is absolutely NO reason why we can't get promoted. Form comes and goes yes, and only time will tell if we have the strength to finish what we have started, but I think we can. If this takeover goes through, it can only be good news for the club which will hopefully increase morale in the Watford camp (if it can even possibly go up even more :))

I have a good feeling in my gut about this season, and it's not because I've just had a great dump, there is just something in the air that brings back likenesses to 05/06.

    Have some faith buddy!

I'm very optimistic, we are looking excellent and get better every week. Plus, our players are only going to get better as they are all really young.

I was just looking at it from Taylor's view, who has no link to our club but who has a million and one ties with Boro.

If they want him, he will stay IMO, thats all.

Pot guy you are talking some utter *******s. Saying we wont get promoted is rubbish, we can get promoted and we can do it automatically so stop with that nonsense

As for Taylor the only thing keeping him at Middlesborough is the current gaffer and the club. With us he found his form, was given a chance and made some incredible new mates. Plus we are at this moment in time a better team than borough and can get to the PL this year IMO

To broaden his horizons he should come here, 1st team football in a great young up and coming team. Also bear in mind a lot of middlesbrough fans aren't fussed, whereas 99% of ours want him back desperately

Try and be a bit more optimistic

Take your tinted specs off, he is a Middlesbrough fan through and through, born and bred there, that's enough for him to want to stay there without a doubt.

I don't think PotGuy is speaking cr@p. It makes perfect sense, he has grown up and developed into the player he is with Middlesborough. Just because we currently look like the far better choice, doesn't mean that will be the case in a season, or come May. A couple of 'Boro wins, and a couple of losses from us, and the gap will soon diminish. He has a horrendously difficult choice to make, and I personally really hope he decides to come here, but the reality of it is, if he is going to get 1st team football there - which he'll definitely want assurances of before he makes his final decision - then I can see him staying there, regardless of how much he enjoyed his time down with us.

As for being optimistic... I am always optimistic, however, you have to draw a line between optimism and realism. It's the Championship, we find ourselves in a far better position now than we could have dreamed of back in August. The hardest part of the season is still to come, and you can't take your eyes off the 52 point mark - hit that, and then fine, aim however high you want - our run will come to an end at some point, whether it's a dodgy penalty call, or the fact we're well and truely outclassed, Graham pulls his hammy, or even another postponed game to add to fixture congestion as the season draws to a close... the wheels can easily fall off - I hope they don't, but they could.

And really? You'd like to go into the Premiership with the squad as young as ours? The only good that would come from it is if we went up, spent nothing, and made ourselves financially secure for the near future (assuming things remain as they our now - seeking investment). The Championship is the place to be.

  24. Cuggy Munt!!!

The championship is not the palce to be......

    Realistically yes......

But whats the point in that attitude? - im happy where i am? Lay off the weed.

I want us to be a force - maybe not in my lifetime (hopefully),
maybe not, but we've gotta start progressing - yo, yo club is fine.......get some money, start working our way up.

It can happen - it'll take time yes, but if your comfortable here, then thats where we'll always be.

The promise land isnt of a great standard at the moment, we need to take advantage of this dour spell for England, because it will get strong again, and i wanna be in there when it does.

Last time we went up, we were one of three from five clubs tipped to come back down. Now its three from 12 clubs....more than half the league. even the greats (Liverpool) are struggling.

Lets try and get there and get involved! - If we dont, we'll never know!

Luck in life is everything and you've gotta make your own luck and be in the right place at the right time.

We could be there and i for one am up for it.

    Watford v Doncaster

    or

Watford v Tottenham (being able to give them sh1t)

Telling West Ham fans that they sing a song about failure, and when theyve got nothing as a reply, apart from "Well who do you support mate"......."Watford".........."hahaha nice one".

I want my son to pick Watford, not be told to support them by me.

    I have a dream!

Surely others are with me here?

nah, we are always a second favourite local team to most, while they glory hunt in london or up north.

why cant watford be the team our kids / grandkids choose first off?

why not? it'll take time - so lets start now! - its all im saying....

    Plus the money ofcourse.

As gloriously poetic as that was, you can dream, but dreams like that rarely become reality. You need to be a bit more realistic. I'm not saying that we won't one day be back near the top of the English game, but realistically, for now, and for most of the near future, I will continue to enjoy supporting WFC, and experiencing the highs and lows that we never fail to deliver from our current position.

I don't know where to start with that, Mr Angry.

Firstly, I am very optimistic and I was talking from Taylor's point of view, which you would have seen if you read a further post I made.

Secondly, to reiterate he has been at Middlesbrough since he was a kid, he came up through their academy, he lives there, his family are there, they are a big, wealthy club who now have a very good manager, a good squad and will be very strong in the next few years in this division. Plus, the new manager has said he thinks he is a very good player and wants to keep him around.

He would be an idiot to not have to consider this move very, very carefully.

    1 word "rare"

Feels like a dumb and dumber moment coming on...

"so your saying there's a chance"......

One you need to familiarise yourself with.... -

I dont think boro are that wealthy tbh. Reading what their fans are posting they seem to think they dont have any cash to bring in new players and that the best they can hope for is to keep hold of their better players until the end of the season. And if they have accepted a 500k offer for him then they cant want to keep him that much.

Watford on the other hand has a real feel good factor about it atm and i think we can all agree that Malkay is putting together a team with real potential - a complete contrast to the doom, gloom and discontent thats still lingering at boro despite the manager change.

Hopefully he will make the right choice and come here

That's because they spent £6m+ in the summer transfer window!

£500k for a player with 6 months left of his contract is a lot too. Where did you see we had offered £500k?

I do hope he comes, its been so very long since we have had a left back of quality.

It was posted by some of their fans in that middlesborough gazette link on the previous page. so i dont know how reliable it is but they seemm to think thats whats been offered

500k for a player whose contract is up in 6 months is far too much. 100k max, especially if he is relatively high wages
