    Not such good news...

It would appear that the Watford situation no longer exists according to Mowbray... Unless he is trying to convince Taylor his place is with Boro', it looks like Malky wil;l have to look elsewhere to solve our left back problem..

Shame, he was a very good prospect. I guess until he's signed on the dotted line anything is possible but I think boro have the upper hand now.

Why couldn't Borough have offered him a new contract as soon as he came back from us  Then we could have got a new LB in on loan, instead of waiting for Borough to reject our bids at the last minute!

Hopefully we'll be able to find a new LB who's as good or better than Taylor. Who knows, we might even be able to get someone like Konchesky as Forest have done!

How much like Konchesky? Same shaven head, but able to play football?

    Perfect disturbance of a rival!!

Mowbray knows where we're weak and if his delay tactics help us drop a few points bonus!

lol he allowed palace a point who are at the moment trying to stay up with Boro one of the teams around em - would be hilarious if boro went down by 1 point at the end of the season with palace 21st.

I'd rather Boro went down than Palace to be fair.

It'll be strange if he does now sign a 'long term' contract there, everything we've heard is that Taylor was desperate to come back here and had no real interest in staying at Boro, so what would be stopping him from simply seeing out his last 6 months there and coming straight back here? If he resigns for them, I can only assume they've offered him a decent amount more than he originally expected they would.

It appears Malky has been treated rather shabbily by Mowbray over this affair, which is surprising as I would have thought he and Malky were friends as they played together at Celtic.

What it looks like to me.

Boro effectively told us we could have him, we put our bids in, Boro didn't even have the courtesy of giving us a proper answer and we were left in limbo until well after the transfer window closed, and now have to looks late into getting another in.

    Poor from Boro. Disrespectful.

Why would anybody give up eating meat? animals are simply natures way of turning vegetables into something edible.

I have never met a healthy looking vegan yet, they have all been a pasty, malnourished, looking bunch of lentil lovers

Friends? Ahh. It's not the playground, they don't have to share. I'd maybe agree with you if Mowbray had loaned out Taylor in the first place but he didn't.

Yes, yes, yes.... unlike the overweight, burger-munching fatties that make up half the carnivorous population, who look like they'd have a coronary if you walked past them too quickly.

If you wanted to take bets on longevity my money would be on the nutty vegans against lardy veg-dodgers.

The longevity i would agree with you moose if the veggie was a life long or huge part of life long - me, i aint likely to benefit too much, maybe hang on for a year or two longer than I may have - i ate one hell of a lot of the lambs, da beef, da chickens, da ducks, da pigs - was nver keen on da rabbits tho.

    wat do da mooses eat?

went to sainsbury express today - they have suitable for vegan labelling , makes da shopping simples innit- had houmos with chopped pepper, a container of three type beans wid other bits in it, innit, a potato curry thingy, some fruit medley of melon and grapes and a pack of sunflower seeds and a loaf of seeded bread.. Got me sainbury made wheatabics and soya milk for da breakie tomorrow.

Can't we just have a veggie & Vegan corner , they could sit around a fire place and just munch carrots and brew lentil/nut soup to their hearts content.

I don't think PYA has once said he doesn't enjoy his new vegan diet. In fact, he's said how amazing certain vegan foods are a fair few times, and also spoke of how he feel better on a day-to-day basis.

I don't think I'd be able to cut out cheese and eggs, eat too much of both, especially cheese. I love pizza too much.

ANDREW TAYLOR admits he was reluctant to return to Middlesbrough after a difficult spell under Gordon Strachan but insists he is now focused on helping Tony Mowbray’s side climb up the table.

Taylor was sent out on loan after falling out-of-favour with the former Boro boss, spending the first half of the campaign at fellow Championship side Watford.

The 24-year-old came close to leaving the Riverside permanently after impressing Hornets boss Malky Mackay, who launched two separate bids to sign Taylor during the transfer window.

Both bids were knocked back by Boro, with Mowbray keen to persuade the player to sign an extended contract.

That made for an uncertain few weeks for the Boro Academy product who admits he did not know where he would be come February 1.

But the transfer window passed and Taylor remained on Teesside with the Boro boss revealing last week he was confident the left-back would sign a new deal with the club soon.

“Obviously I had a bit of a hard time under the last manager, it didn’t really work out with me and him but now things are different,” said Taylor, speaking during an event at Middlesbrough’s club shop in Captain Cook Square organised by league title sponsors npower.

“The atmosphere and feel around the training ground is much better and I’m just focusing on playing as many games and getting the club up the table.

“Things have improved massively. When I first came back from Watford my head was all over the place.

“I genuinely thought I was leaving and thought I was going to sign for Watford because I’d loved it that much and my experiences at Middlesbrough when Strachan was in charge were that bad I didn’t want to come back.

“But I have come back and everything’s a lot better, the atmosphere, the training, I like the management now and the coach and it’s really good.

“It was quite unsettling because I didn’t know whether I was coming back to Middlesbrough, staying at Watford or going to another team, but the transfer window is shut now so at least I can focus on getting my head down and playing as many games as I can.’’ He added: “January was a bit of a hard time for me personally because I didn’t know what was happening, whether the club was selling me, but now that’s in the past I can focus more on the football and ultimately get a few wins for the team.”

When Taylor returned to the Riverside, Mowbray made it clear he wanted the fullback to convert into a left-midfielder, something the player admits he had reservations about.

But in the four games he has played since returning, Boro have only lost once and the 24-year-old has impressed in his new position.

“I’m enjoying it, it’s different, obviously I’m used to playing left back,” Taylor said.

“I used to play in midfield when I was in the youth teams. When I first came back and the manager told me his thoughts, my initial reaction was that I’m a defender.

“I’ve played left-back my full career, I’ve just played 20 games for Watford at leftback, did really well and enjoyed it but over the last few weeks I’m starting to see what the manager wants from me and I’m enjoying it.

“He likes footballers in the team and he believes that I can be a big part of the midfield.

It’s nice to know and have a manager that believes in you.”

Looks like we may need to look for another left back, Taylor indicates here he is enjoying his return to Boro.

He isn't exactly committal about anything.

I don't think for a moment he will come back but it seems like they need to convince him a bit more for him to sign up. He certainly doesn't seem to thrilled about being bumped into midfield.

IMO getting himself a bigger contract by stalling. If he sits there and doesn't commit they will panic and he will get a bigger contract.

    Good luck to him.

If he's going to be there until the end of his contract, it makes sense for him to sound positive. That doesn't mean he won't move in the summer, though.

I don't know too much about this sort of thing but could he sign a pre-contract agreement with us, even if he is currently committed to them for the rest of the season, saying that if he decides not to re-sign he'll join us?

Whether MM is prepared to wait until next season to land him is questionable as we do seem a bit lop-sided without him!

    define "enjoy yourself"

then perhaps people can answer your question.
