So how is all this working out for the Pozzos?

How much revenue from being in PL, how much spent on transfers, wages, infrastructure etc?

Suddenly, this team has strikers. I think this will be the best for Deeney in particular. At the risk of stating the obvious, I think he'll do even better when the opponents are worried about the other guys up front.

Most of it probably. It won't always be like this no doubt but right now they're investing for the future.

Lets be relatively honest, it is a bit of a sideways move for the player. I'm almost certain Dyche helped Andre make his decision to come to Watford, especially as there were other PL teams in for him.

There's alot of love there. All set up nicely if Burnley get relegated &/or Marco jumps ship (gets pushed) next summer.

Welcome back to Watford Sean Dyche!

    Don't tell Andre Gray.

I see Gray has signed off his thank you to Burnley with 'AG7'. Hopefully he has it in his contract to have the No.7 shirt, that sufficiently annoys Amrabat and we swap him for Ashley Young. HOPEFUL.

Watford FC website says fee was 9m, obviously no add ons mentioned. The fact this Burnley article says 'substantial fee' without mentioning the number says all you need to know.

    We have a bargain!

Pozzo's get progressively more impressive, which is rare in this industry. Love the way the transfers are consistently done coyly/under the radar & that the wider media only get wind of our deals 24/48 hours before it goes through.

Erm why not exactly? Why are people making the assumption that Andre Gray is incapable of writing an email by himself?

One thing that confuses me is why did Burnley buy a player for 9 million in championship in early 20s and only put him on a 3 year contract?

Interestingly, a journalist from the Independent actually says last week that a few key members of the squad actually requested this signing. If that's true I really like that, players know what they are missing on the pitch and Gino effortlessly went out and got it done. Equally imagine Deeney had a pretty big part in that.

Same journalist says that Tottenham were desperate to make Gray Kane's back up, we've clearly signed a really good player here.

£18m for a player who was playing non-league football only 3 years ago seems like a lot.......but the break down of the deal is clever.

It looks like we're paying £12.5m outright, then another £5.5m with add-ons. Add-ons only apply if he's successful. It's going to be for targets met, like goals scored in a season, appearances, playing for England etc. If he reaches all those milestones then he'll be worth the extra £5.5m.

Now, I don't suppose Andre Gray was the top of anyone's wish list, but now he's here you can see he's going to be a good fit with Deeney. I 'm sure there won't be many defenders looking forward to dealing with Deeney and Gray.

Also, another important element to this, not that I'd like to wish ill on Burnley, but it does weaken their side......short term at least.....and that can only be beneficial to Watford.

The team is starting to shape up now, but more additions are still required before we can be considered a confident EPL side...IMO......and hopefully the other targets will be on their way sooner rather than later.

Some interesting comments from Luke Dowling:-

"We feel we can become a top 12 club. We are surprised Burnley wanted to do business with us, but we are delighted we got it done."

Considering he hugged Eminem on stage, I'm sure he'll see Gray's apology and be excited about some pace up front.

He's happy. With the amount of pace Gray has, he'll easily get in behind defenders!

Elton was adamant that eminem wasn't anti gay and completely lost it with Moby on Jonathan Ross or TFI Friday when he suggested he was.

A no brainer of a deal. Strikers than score 10 goals in the Prem give u a great chance of staying up.

Wonder how much more is left in the transfer kitty or whether we have already broke the bank ,worrying if true.

We have allegedly spent 50 million so far ,for a club like us that's a serious outlay , I have faith in Gino and Scott ,but can't help feeling a little twitchy about club finances ,when you take into account wage bills other outgoings etc.

IN the meantime bring on liverpool ,feeling more confident for new season than I was 2 days ago !

Should try and find a George Michael/Wham! song that works for Gray.

A Watford connection plus gay, the perfect choice.
