Looks like a good signing. Although he may be a loan, the Pozzo's have re-loaned players back to Granada for more than a year so some of the Udinese/Granada loans could be semi-permanent signings.

really? read it again. a maximum of 5 standard, emergency and youth loans.

these loans are none of those. these are international loans which by the rules of the fa are defined as temporary transfers. See below.

    Temporary transfer of registration (Loans)

If a player on a work permit or Certificate of Sponsorship is moving to another club in the UK on a temporary transfer of registration (loan) his club must notify UKBA of the fact that he has temporarily moved location. This should be done on the SMS system for players approved
under the Points Based System or by emailing Danielle.Beck@ukba.gsi.gov.uk for players currently on a work permit.

The temporary club does NOT need to make an application for an individual Governing Body Endorsement. When a loan becomes permanent the new club WILL need to make a fresh application on behalf of the player. Clubs should note that the change of employment process must be fully completed before the player can play as a permanent employee of the new club.

For the purpose of these requirements, loans are defined as temporary transfers which do not extend beyond the end of the season in which the registration is temporarily transferred.

Loans are only permissible within the player’s current period of approval and leave and should not be used to avoid making extension or change of employment applications.

Loans from clubs of the FA of Wales, Scottish FA and the Irish FA playing in the Premier League or Football League will not need a new GBE from The FA. Players employed by clubs in the Premier League and Football League on work permits or Certificates of Sponsorship
cannot be loaned to clubs below the Football League.

Players on loan from an overseas club to a UK club must meet all the requirements of Tier 2 or Tier 5 and therefore an endorsement will be required.

Contract changes or re-negotiation during the period of approval. Where a club wishes to re-negotiate a player's contract to improve his conditions and/or salary or length of contract part-way through their approved period, the club should submit a change of employment application (or extension application if the contract period changes).

If the criteria are met, the application will be processed.

If the criteria are not met:

    - Where the player's initial contract was for 12 months or longer and the club have requested a panel, The Football Association will consult with the other relevant football bodies by email. They will ask whether the application needs to be considered at a panel. If the football bodies recommend unanimously they are satisfied that the changes do not need to be considered by a panel, then the case can
be processed without one. If any of the governing bodies have concerns with a particular application, a panel will be arranged. See section below on panels.

    - Where a player's initial contract was for less than 12 months and the club have requested a panel, it will be arranged as normal.

No i had the right player, a 29 year old journeyman who has had limited expiriance at the highest level with a goal scoring record of 1 in 3. Plus I'm sure you know what i mean about the leagues he has played in.

If you think that any other 2nd tier in Europe is as strong as the championship then you are massivally mistaken.

You listed some rediculous divisions, this guy has only played in Serie A, La Liga and Liga Adelante. He has also scored a brace against Real Madrid at the Bernabeau, and four goals against Barcelona B. In his 24 goal season, he also missed 12 games with injury, if you seriously are dissapointed with this signing, then you will never be happy.

    Firstly, no they would not

Secondly, how come Barcelona B dont always win their league then?

How come Granada smashed them 4-1, with 4 goals from Geijo?

Im gonna go out on a limb and assume you don't watch a great deal of the Spanish Liga Adelante

I was making th epoint that he is a 29 year old journeyman, I really couldn't be asked to go through each of the 8 clubs he has played for in the last 10 years. He played 4 games in Serie A and scored just 2 goals in L Liga, so harldy impressed at the standard you are implying.

As for the 12 games he has missed with Injuary, every player misses games with injuary, its part of the game. I don't see what your argument is

We will never know because the way our league is set up, but there is a reason why every championship club are trying to get United and City youngsters on loan, because they are better than championship players.

The reason why Barcelona B don't win the league is because its a development team building youngsters for the first team.

How come Exceter drew 0-0 with United in the cup ? How did Wigan beat Liverpool at Anfield ? it doesn't make Granada world beaters.

    and your limbs are safe

Barcelona B would destroy this league, yet they are consistently beaten to the title of their league

ergo that league is very strong

On paper, Geijo looks an excellent signing. You can't guarantee he'll be a huge success, but he's got a very good goal scoring record at a consistently high standard and seems to have some real attributes. Of all the players we've just brought in I don't see how this one can be picked on for being poor.

They're not trying to get every Utd or City youngster. Many of them end signing for lower league clubs or drop in to non-league when they don't make it. No way would those sides do well in the Championship.

Agree, look what happened to our form and our goals conceded that season once he left to go back to United

He's scored 10 goals in La Liga. My argument is that he could have scored even more had he not missed near on 2-3 months of the season. He strikes me as a player that is way too good for the second division, but doesn't cut it at the very top level in Spain. Every time he's been in the second division he has scored hat fulls, he's then earned moves to La Liga where he's been less prolific, understandably. Any player that can score 24 goals in 31 games in Liga Adelante I welcome to the Vic with open arms. He was also very highly rated at Levante, where as I pointed out, single handedly gave Madrid's defenders a horrible night at the Bernabeau, scoring 2 goals. I just don't understand how you can be disappointed with this signing, he's probably better than Danny Graham, albeit very similar, would you not want another Danny Graham?

Cathcart played 12 games for us in which time we conceded 21 goals including 4-0 home defeat to Cardiff and 5-0 defeat at WBA.

We conceded 68 goals in 2009/10 which means that without Cathcart we conceded 47 in 34 games.

Summing up, with Cathcart we conceded 1.75 goals per game and without him 1.38 goals per game.

  28. With A Smile

Or you can look at it that with out the Cardiff and WBA games he played 10 games and we conceeded 12 goals, 1.2 a game.

Once he went back our form that season went down hill and Cathcart went on to play in the premiership the next season with Blackpool !

You can make fact look as good or as bad as you like
