Yeah that's the case, so if they're in a lot of debt then it could potentially be a lot more than that base price of 5m!

That deal is to be completed in just 7 days time.

Unfortunately as part of the deal he won't be allowed to play in the Swans game the following day.

Could be the key to our promotion chances though.

The rumoured reason that he failed the City medical, which may or may not be true, was that they detected a heart irregularity. Could be that he just got over exited at the prospect of joining one of the world's biggest football clubs, in which case he will have passed our medical without any problem.

Hope it wasn't the old Frank Worthington problem.

Well...you've gotta ask yourself...why have I developed a heart irregularity on the day of the medical?

A Rochdale fan on another forum suggested Man C pulled out of the deal because their CEO announced the deal before Man City were ready to make it official.

@DrewH @Burnsy Just yesterday I noticed Pollock & Doig are both followed by Giaretta on Instagram and had a feeling there may be something to it. Also Chelsea U23 CB Dynel Simeu.

I’m not sure I’m comfortable with us signing young players with experience of first team football.

It’s worryingly close to being a sign that there has been a change in strategy for our recruitment.

Asked around - and also been contacted about - so there’s definitely something in it. Told it’s almost as good as done. Giaretta following him and Baah on IG will be quite telling too.

Pretty funny that after years of being one of the most covert and opaque clubs in terms of transfer operations that we can now discern who is on their way by who Giaretta follows on Instagram.

I have viewed Giaretta's Instagram and it seems to mainly be videos of squirrels in his back garden with feelgood captions like "Hello My Friend" and cheesey music.

Make of that what you will.

Yes, thats why you dont want to do it unless you can cover the debt.

Let’s hope the doctors doing the medical - just look at the output from Man City one, and quite reasonably decide on different tests, like General Knowledge and film and Tv

Seems to have been alright in a terrible Grimsby side with a 6.98 whoscored rating. However the season seemed to catch up with him and he got dropped in February.

Grimsby fans don't seem blown away by him, suggest he's calm and has potential, but also a bit "agricultural", slow and chunky. Fair to say he's one who'd either start off in our reserves or on loan if he signed.

"Waterfall and Pollock are more agricultural in their approach to defending and the two as a pairing was just too basic for my liking. "

"Where were you saying this? Everybody on here was frigging themselves senseless over Pollock at the start of the season and every time I suggested he's not that good I got about 20 red crosses."

"Personally I think it would be wrong, and unfair, to write Pollock off yet or be too heavy with criticism.
He's a 19 year old lad. Still developing his game as he gains experience.
He plays in a position where it is rarer for young players to be thrown into the side in their teenage years. He has played all of his football in a team that's either been an average lower half team or a team that's struggled massively at the bottom. And he's still only made about 50 EFL appearances.
Still plenty of potential with him. We're very quick to go over the top with praise just as we are quick to write him off and claim that he's not that good all of a sudden.
Young players can be inconsistent as they're still developing. It wouldn't have helped him being in such a poor team this year that lacks leadership."

"Pollock is still developing and has an obvious flaw in his game"

"Agreed. I just hope that we don't feel obliged to keep waterfall due to payoff cost if we got rid, and thus allow Pollock to leave. Although they are v similar Pollockis still a teenager and still developing and is already the calmer, less error prone defender (and scores goals). He would definitely be great for marshaling some of the big lump target men in the NL. "

"Waterfall & Pollock are equally interesting. Given the success of Menayese & Hewitt it's difficult to see us needing both of them (W&P), as they seem very similar (unless of course Pollock can lose a bit of weight and develop a turn of speed"

Yeah, I’d say so. Just didn’t want to start one saying ‘rumour’ or ‘reported’ when it’s not actually anywhere in the public domain!

But we are definitely in for him - I just suspect we won’t confirm any transfers until the season is done and dusted. But I’m confident enough to say this is ‘very very very’ likely!

I can't really quote about the fella tbh. I did remember his name being mentioned during the last window, not with us but a few Prem teams I believe. But I'm pleased that we're keeping our options open at all age groups.
Doig I'm extremely happy that we're showing interest he has looked very good on the occasions I've had a punt on Hibs. He looks so assured for someone of only 18.

Got half way through this thread and when 3 or 4 names started getting chucked around I thought I was missing the joke!

So early policy looks like young up and coming Uk based players? Could be fun!

Whaaaat he's got huge potential. Plus he'll never be on international duty thanks to Robertson and Tierney.

I like the path that Giaretta is taking so far...
