If Lazaar and Navarro are getting in the team ahead of you it must raise a few questions in your mind...

If Cathcartinho got in at RB why not Wilmot at LB?

I think Cathcart is far more adept at playing at RB than Wilmot is at LB.

We do. But only for the next 5-10 games before QSF returns.

Yes after the Norwich game I think you're right.

My point is that if I was Wilmot I'd be s bit narked that I couldn't get more game time, and that he might also feel he's a better option than Lazaar at LB.

You might have a point there, Hungbo went from a few games at National League level to playing some useful cameo roles at Champo level, I'm sure Baah could do a similar thing in the Prem. Would his development be best served playing in the cups and sparingly in the Prem rather than going on loan to the Championship though?

Not guaranteed games I the Championship though. I want to see him pushing for a place in the squad.

Yes, the Rochdale "first team" as he rejoins them on loan as part of "his development".

It's a travesty they still used the name...although, to be fair, that's why Peter Green came up with the name, so Mick & John could carry on after he'd left.
Don't think even he foresaw the way he left...

Think that would definitely be better for him. Although people said the same stuff about Foden. On the other hand Baah won't be working with Pep.

Fair point but I separate our foreign loans from domestic loans. The former is primarily a money making endeavour, the other is to see if players can improve enough to contribute to our team. People are talking about loaning the likes of Baah and Ferguson to a team lower down the pyramid so that they get experience and come back better. Our record on this type of loan is appalling, most of our players barely play.

I suppose our most successful loan export in recent years has been Wilmot at Swansea, and his time there was a mixed bag

Yep. Deeney and Llorente up front. Cathcart and Foster at the back. Plenty of experience to support Hungbo and Baah on the wings.

I thought this was pretty interesting:

"“I’ve been watching the matches as I knew Watford were interested and when they won against Millwall [to secure promotion] I was over the moon.""

I wonder if he still would have signed for us had we not gotten promoted?

I guess he might have had alternatives.

Is the guy likely to get a lot of game time in the Premier league or be sent out on loan ?

He has moved back home with his parents, he would financially be much better off than at Rochdale, so I think he would have also been delighted to have signed should we have been in the championship next season! What’s not to like for him?

Realistically you would say he won’t get a lot of game time next season, as there aren’t many 18 year olds playing in the premier league, best he can expect is a few sub appearances, however its well and truly up to him to make a difference, the sky’s the limit!

Nice to know you've been taking on board my posts (from Jan 2, 2020):

"Most players tend to peak at around mid-late 20s. I don't think that our current seeming plan of filling our squad with either 17/18 year-olds, or 35/36 year-olds will have a balancing out effect that's in any way equivalent."

On a slightly more serious note, as per my post above I made this point a lot at the start of the season in which we got relegated (in 2019).

We had the oldest average team in the PL in the season prior to the one in which we get relegated, and the joint oldest with Palace in the season in which we did get relegated. Footballers tend to peak around 23-29, and in both those seasons our average team age was about 29.5 (passed their peak).

At the start of our relegation season I posted that:

"I've pointed this out elsewhere, but unfortunately I think the club has been a bit off in their succession planning - our more established players are generally too old now, while our promising younger players, such as the ones you mention, are still too wet behind the ears and can't all be expected to be consistent first team performers yet.
We have a real lack of players in their peak years of 23-29."

However, pertinently we did not have that problem this season. Our average team age was 26.3, the 9th highest in the division and over 3 years younger than that of the team which got us relegated. With Bachmann, Masina, Troost-Ekong, Sierralta, Hughes, Chalobah and Sema we had far more regular players in their prime than we have done in previous seasons.

What will be important to our chances of survival in the PL next season is that the club keeps adding more players who are just coming in to their prime, or already in their prime, and of PL quality.

Baah is the only confirmed signing we've had so far this summer, so it still remains to be seen whether the club have actually learned the lessons of the season in which we got relegated and sign enough players able to make an immediate and sustainable impact, or will go back to their misaligned, cost-cutting transfer strategy.

Alas, although I was a fairly early adopter of Bitcoin, I did not have any spare cash to invest in it prior to its stratospheric rise.
