This looks like it could be great signing -but can't see him in getting in the team ahead of Jose Manuel Jurado.

Juve have offered Pereyra plus cash to Zenith for Axel Witsel by all accounts.

Particularly as I am genuinely sitting on the hard shoulder in Poland having just blown two tyres by hitting a kerb in the middle of nowhere !!

Yea but would Pereyra like spend the next 3 years playing football in the sexy English Premier League? Or would he rather spend the next 3 years eating mainly cabbage & potatoes?

You can get great food in St Petersburg once you appreciate that menus are aspirational and most things aren't available. At one really good restaurant we were told that potatoes were off that night (we didn't ask about cabbage). At another restaurant, an English guy at the next table said to the waiter that to save time, would he tell him what they had!

But Nevsky Prospekt vs Watford High Street, the Neva vs the Gade, the Winter Palace vs the Colosseum - St P does have some things going for it. Plus corruption and thuggery and racism on the terraces.

If I was a footballer, there's no way I'd consider moving to Russian football right now.

The thuggery (current displayed to great effect at the Euros) combined with the racism, xenophobia and homophobia on plain view in the terraces does not make for a compelling career move.

I love St Petersburg, and am quite tempted to spend some time living there in the next few years, but those comparisons are a bit ridiculous - footballers playing for Watford are far more likely to be enjoying the great things on offer in London, which is readily accessible, than on Watford High Street.

We used to have three but then one was shipped off to Sheffield.

Not sure if we've covered whether that was the right move or not on this forum.

Yeah, but playing in Russia is like:

    Which trumps everything, obviously.

I love St Petersburg too, but only as a visitor - Russia is not a good place to live at the moment, for the reasons given in this thread. Of course I wasn't serious in suggesting that Watford players would never go outside Watford for their fun - once they know London Colney, everywhere else would pale into insignificance.

If we do get Pereyra I reckon we could have one of the strongest midfields in the league.

Especially if he is joined by 2 or 3 other excellent midfielders.

Struggling to see how any of ours would get into Arsenals top NINE midfielders...

Ozil, Ramsey, Wilshere, Xhaka, Sanchez, Coquelin, Cazorla, Flamini and the Ox.

As long as they are defensive midfielders. Can't get enough of those imo.

You can only count them as half each, given how much collective time they spend on the treatment table.

Besides, Ramsey has reverted to type after his one season and revealed himself to be relatively ****.

Also Flamini doesn't play for them anymore, and actually 100% at least one of our midfielders is better than him.

That being said, I agree it's a mental claim and we'd be nowhere near, unless the league we're talking about is the SPL.

Fair point - but I'd certainly take Capoue and Behrami over Flamini.

If you only counted Capoues 'good' games and we also include Behramis performances during these Euros... Then yep I'd agree with that :)

So just their top 8 midfielders then?
