Can't help thinking of this Harry Enfield sketch now that Luton are in the Premiership. They are now considerably richer than us!

They will find plenty of mercenaries who will sign just for the money and Premier League football. Whether they get quality who will fit into their ethos of playing high tempo in a tight knit team is very unlikely.

They will have to rely on pretty much who they have currently, with a few additions. If you break up that team spirit Luton will be cannon fodder in the Prem. They have to be together and their ground is going to be a huge advantage. Minimal spend to make it EPL regulation, I’d do no more than that. Prem teams will hate going there, even Bournemouth would look down their noses at KWR.

They always have been this right from the days of being Radio Beds. A local Radio station that you can't pick up on FM unless the planets align, the weather is good and you happen to be standing next to the transmitter.

I would love to know why Kayambe "liked" this tweet. Was it praise for Edwards?

My prediction was Coventry to go up at pre-playoffs. They let me down somewhat.

I'm kind of mixed about L***ns promotion because I'm actually pleased for Edwards and his coaching team, seems a thoroughly likeable, personable guy. That was evident when we appointed him, shame we didn't stick with him.

    BBC Radio Bedfordshire (1985–1993)
The station launched as "Radio Bedfordshire" on 24 June 1985, serving the whole of Bedfordshire plus (despite the name) North Buckinghamshire and the northern parts of Hertfordshire. Therefore, as well as Bedford, Luton, Dunstable, Milton Keynes, Knebworth, Berkhamsted, Tring, Harpenden, Leighton Buzzard, Aylesbury, Hemel Hempstead, St Albans, Hatfield, Welwyn Garden City, Letchworth Garden City, Stevenage and Hitchin were served by the new station. In 1992 the station became known as "BBC Radio Bedfordshire with Herts and Bucks".

Barnet were also one of teams covered but I think they became part of BBC London's catchment area despite being in Herts. There was also Chiltern Radio with Mike Barrage Balloon Vince along with Ollie Phillips phoning in match updates.

Trying to think who covered Watford for Radio L*t*n over the years. Off the top of my head: Nick London, John Watkins, David Croft, Simon Oxfley, John Marks. Regular/semi-regular side-kicks: Neil Price, Martin Patching, Rene Gilmartin, Craig Ramage and our Del when they weren't working for the Press Association or such-like.

Can anyone else fill in the gaps?

The turning point was that first international break, when Pozzo returned to base and reversed his original decision to back Edwards and move Giaretta on, or was told to by Daddy:

    https://www.watfordobserver.co.uk/s...ack-edwards-sporting-director-giaretta-stays/

"Watford have sacked head coach Rob Edwards and his assistant Richie Kyle, and sporting director Cristiano Giaretta has stayed in his post.

In a staggering move that totally contradicts statements in the summer suggesting the club was looking to reset its culture and operate in a different way, owner Gino Pozzo has swung the axe after just 10 games of the new Championship season and dispensed with the services of the young English coach only appointed in May.

He has also reversed a board decision to remove Giaretta. Club staff were informed of the change at the end of the week before last, Edwards met with the players and football staff to explain the new structure and his enhanced role within it, and Giaretta was not at Vicarage Road for the game with Sunderland on September 17.

However, as has often been the case in the decade that Pozzo has been at the helm, the owner has taken time during the international break to assess things as he sees them, and this morning informed Edwards and Kyle that their services would no longer be required.

Furthermore, Giaretta has returned to work after a ‘holiday’ and has been at the training ground today."

If anyone wants to know what goes on in Gino's mind then this comes pretty close to emulating it.

I hope they sign Sarr for 5m, and see him burst into life as a swashbuckling winger, scoring and creating goals for fun, until they sell on to City for 80m

Well, I didn't watch it, have avoided the news and was having a nice day in the sunshine until I went to the pub in St Albans for some food and two sozzled and ecstatic orange clad numpties came in fresh from the victory parade. They sat down and it turned out the two tables either side of me were also scummers so there was backslapping and drinks buying galore all around me. Great stuff.

Does St Albans have a sizable contingent of Luton fans then? I was wondering if there any towns that have more or less equal proportions of Watford and Luton fans. St Albans along with Hemel Hempstead are roughly equidistant from Watford and Luton. That could fuel the rivalry quite a bit if schools and workplaces are half Watford and half Luton.

I went to STAGS and there was one nice girl Julia whose family were ***** fans.

I don't recall any others but then I don't recall many others who were fans of any team bar Charlotte Keeley the Derby fan.

A girls' school in the late '70s and early '80s didn't have many football fans.

A few ***** fans in WGC now, probably equal to Hornets. I have a pleasant neighbour who's a Boreham Wood fan.
