I'm placated by the fact that they watched us win the championship playoffs twice in recent (25) years, both much more comfortably with a wonder goal to boot. And that they'll challenge derby in what is a somewhat competitive premier League next season. If they stay up it'll be a miracle.

A bit of perspective is needed though, we’ve done what Luton have done twice in the last ten years and managed to stay there for a bit. Things are horrible right now and Pozzo absolutely bears most the responsibility for that but as of now Luton haven’t achieved anything we didn’t previously do.

Surely it’s an actual embarrassment when they qualify for Europe or win a cup?

Well a sh*t end to a sh*t season. Bet on Luton to win, just to cover all bases, and yet because they won on pens I lose out due to the full time result being a draw. F**kin* great. What an utter cesspit of a season.

I don't buy into the Luton Town hate vibes.

Luton had a settled side before Edwards went there. He was the guide and let them play to their strengths and play as a team. Something sadly lacking at Watford FC.

Edwards would have needed at least two seasons at Watford in order to get his ideas across. He was never going to be given that amount of time under Pozzo.
Plus our players were not good enough for the Championship. No matter the manager, we were doomed.

The success of Luton Town just makes Watford FC, Scott Duxbury and Gino Pozzo look like complete c**ts.
This title is fully deserved.

I do think Luton Town and Sheffield United will both be relegated next season. Leaving Bournemouth to yet another season in the Premier league.

Seems a bit stupid to me. If you want a fair competition then why allow the possibility of one team getting both advantages?

 

Ah man. I deliberately bet on Luton to win the tie, as I knew they’d try and **** me over in normal time.

 

As gutted as I am (and I am gutted), they deserve it

Finished 6th last year, built on it and finished 3rd by a distance this year

A team unit with no stand out superstars. Everything we are not

I despise them and I hope they break Derby’s record but I can’t begrudge them promotion, they earned it

 

Perspective? Perspective! This is Luton we are talking about!

 

Every single season when a team wins the play offs they are immediately written off as relegation certs the following year. Yet the fact of the matter is, statistically, promoted teams usually excel themselves and stay up at least in their first season. In recent years teams like Huddersfield, Bournemouth, Hull etc.

I remember after the 2013 play off final everyone on here was adamant Palace would go straight back down the following season with a new record low points tally. They’ve been in the PL ever since!

So if we can just stop grasping at straws tonight that would be a good start. Makes us look like right royal whingey sour losers.

Football is about now. Our previous promotion and Premier league survival are as relevant today as Preston North End's double win or Metropolitan Police's Fa Cup triumph.

Right now, they are lording it over us. That we did it in the past to them is irrelevant.
