Stewart isn't really going to help with the final ball though, and apparently it might be a fairly serious one, which would obviously set them back significantly! I'm sure they'll settle for mid-table mediocrity, a la us between the Boothroyd and Pozzo eras!

Most, if not all, Championship clubs will be very envious of the players we have now. It's a question of getting them playing effectively for the majority of the time in matches. Over to you Rob Edwards...

Absolutely - I think most managers would fancy themselves a shot at automatic promotion with a team of Sarr, Pedro, Kamara, Louza, Choudhury.

We rely too heavily on our excellent defence and definitely missed the chance to strengthen sufficiently upfront in the window.

The same Sam Parkin that all of Watford's transfer hopes and dreams were pinned on back in 2005?

Was he? 10 year old me was too busy having a life and riding my bike with my friends to care about the minutiae of our transfer dealings!

That says a lot about you.
My first words were, "We really should be signing Holton if we want to get out of this division."
That really confused my parents as they knew nothing about football.

Not sure where to post this exactly as the match thread for tomorrow is up and running, but PSV's game away at Arsenal on Thursday has been postponed for policing reasons (in addition to Rangers' game being put back 24 hours, with no away fans). Forgive my ignorance, but why is this impacting on midweek (in Glasgow of all places as well)? Is this a sign that the weekend games will be off?

Assume it's because the coffin is in state from Wed onwards, and up to 2m people are expected to hit London for 30 hours of queuing.

******* fantastic night for Sheffield United, none of the other 'big guns', if you can call us that, won, I know we were ***** and have to look after ourselves first and foremost, but it's annoying how we couldn't take advantage of Boro and Burnley slipping up

Getting the best out of McBurnie and Brewster - or maybe found their level.

    Saw this quoted elsewhere.

"A Preston fan who posted on Twitter asking “will I be ejected if I boo during the minutes silence for the Queen” has been given a lifetime ban by the club".

Must be more to this that just the comment made.

A whole 7 points off top after only 9 games.

My expectations of a top 6 not over yet. Improvement in results needed, may even need a change of manager, plenty still to play for.

And we had a three point lead over the top side after the first round of matches. So that's a 10pt swing in 8 games.

But but, GT said if we are in the top 30 in the country we are punching over our weight so it’s all gravy under Gino Pozzo! It’s the fans that are the problem.

Danny Schofield sacked from Huddersfield. Not much of a surprise (I had them 15th in my preseason predictions). Last season was a success but 2 of their best players were loans which were always going to be tough to replace and they relied a lot of set-pieces which would be hard to replicate with a new coaching team, not much of a surprise that Corberan jumped ship asap

And Forest nicked 2 of their better players too to rub it all in.

Yeah, was an impossible task for Schofield, imagine that's why they had to hire a manager with no first team experience - as nobody else would touch it!

Fans like Bendover who are content to accept mediocrity. If I remember rightly when GT first arrived he was appalled by the nature of many fans who were content to accept mediocrity.

Probably not but then he wouldn’t like the way we do things now .

No one pretended we are a big club and have generally done well over the years but the reputation of and goodwill towards the club must be petty low.

Long term I'd agree. Right now no. If we have 6 years of PL money we shouldn't be swimming in debt with a dreadful squad full of garbage like Cathcart and Kabasele. We should be a powerhouse in this division this season. If we finish 10th and people start quoting that to justify Pozzo performance I shall explode.

Rotherham could go above us tonight, having played a game less. Rotherham.

That's how sh*t we are and how badly this season has started.
