I tend to agree.
I said this in the past, we have two years in the Championship before all the money runs out.

My predictions:

• Ismael sacked before 10 or 12 games.
• We finish in the bottom half of the Championship after flirting with relegation.
• We apply to go in to administration.
• The Pozzo family sell the club.

I am looking at the 2023/24 season not with excitement of a fresh start or new beginning, but one of trepidation and the anticipation of the club imploding.

We have been spiralling out of control for the past 4 seasons. Is this the season that we finally crash?

I am still a fan and always will be, but these are very grim times.

 

Aren't the two things in bold mutually exclusive? If Pozzo puts the club into administration then he won't be selling it, the administrators would and then only for the benefit of the secured creditors (I'm not sure if Pozzo is one).

“Football debts” and secured third parties would be priorities. I doubt anyone else would get a penny after administration.

 

He will only get that back if the club is sold for more than he is owed.

 

Gino via Diversify Sport Investment SARL (luxembourg entity) has loaned c£52m to Hornets Investment Ltd "HIL" who in turn have on lent this to the football club.

Watford football club gave security to HIL back in 2016 for any loans it made. So yes Gino is a secured creditor at June 22.

However HIL will rank behind the majority of the other secured creditors of the football club as they have specific security over Parachute money due, transfers fees recevable and the ground. Of course the other " secured creditors" are transfer fees payable as these are football related debts.

So i think the secured creditors at June 22 are
1/ football related debts-£54m
2/ Loans against transfer fees receivable-£35m
3/ Secured creditors (Close brothers and Macquarie) £77m
4/ "Gino" £52m

Total £218m

 

For a second I wasn’t sure if you meant Wilder or Ismael, neither of which would surprise me!

 

I had £182m as debts, but always understood it was more.
The loans/transfer figure takes care of this.

Yep, it's all shaping up perfectly for more of the same.

All we're missing is seeing who the random players from across the globe are, who will wear the shirt and strut round the pitch half arsed.

 

Predict next season to be even worse...

Championship will be far more competitive with Southampton and Leeds (Leics in my view will struggle with players leaving and debt) and strong teams coming up from League 1. Watford on the other hand will need a clear out of dead wood with limited if any budget to replace. Then, in April, our accounts to June 2023 will be released which will cause mass panic

His coaching team has been announced, with a nice surprise of Omer Riza being promoted/moved up from Lead u21 Coach to First Team Assistant Coach.

A few things from that - recognition for the job Riza has been doing at u21 level and possible continuation between the u21s and the 1st team for the upcoming season.

No surprise with Dean Whitehead also coming in.

He will be when he's appointed to be the next head coach after a stint as caretaker through October.

 

I don't know, one thing we can say about the Pozzo era for better or for worse is that no two seasons are the same but that could mean that next season will be worse rather than better.

The only good thing about the season just gone is that we avoided the minor ignominy of a bottom half finish, but that might have forced Gino and co to seriously rethink and reshape their strategy and approach more than they will as things stand.

 

Been given access to some new data. I don't know what some of it means (no idea what the offensive impact and defensive impact are in relation to for instance). But some of it is interesting nonetheless.
