Yep fair enough. But there will be people (not aimed at you) on Twitter wheeling this out in a months time and who then disappear when the squad building is poor by end of window. Happens twice a season.
Opinions that differ to yours really rattle you….. calm your boots - this what forums are for isn’t it ?
I don't think so, if some of the lot on here had written it then it wouldn't read "he is one of a number of strikers that the club are looking at" but "he is the only striker the cheapskate numbskull board are looking at and the club expect he will single-handedly fire them to promotion".
@reids how about a per 90 chart comparison of Afobe vs Keinan Davies from last season please? I'd also like to see Gyokeres vs Archer (I'm aware they're slightly different types of striker, but am also curious how they match up to each other and the other two)?
More insightful to be fair. Can add "the club are also looking at ways to hive off assets for Udinese and avenues to make business associates money for overvalued dross"
Nothing to do with "opinions that differ" - it's literally a fact, not an opinion, that you tried to compare Afobe to being our Mitrovic, Solanke and Johnson. It's also literally a fact, not an opinion, that you're doing so when we've not even signed the bloke and there's 2.5 months left in the window. I'm not rattled, but I can see you're desperate to try and drag me down to your own state of being in meltdown.
Gyokeres and Davis seem remarkably similar there, though Gyokeres has the edge on actually scoring goals and also slightly on pressure regains. I do think he'd be good if available. Archer's pressing and finishing suggest he could be alright as a support striker, though his xG Assisted is surprisingly low considering the type of player he is. Afobe's finishing seems decent compared to the others, and his heading seems good, but it's a concern that he doesn't really seem to get in to many scoring positions. His pressing and assists are also very poor, which is also a surprise considering the type of player he's meant to be and he was playing for supposedly decent high-intensity Millwall side. There's def nothing there to suggest he should be anything more than a backup player for us.
What a dud we’ve signed in Edwards eh. Fancy him thinking he knows more about a player he’d like to work with than we do. He surely won’t last long.
So boring that you bit !! I’m not here to fall out with folk as it goes I happen to agree with a lot that you say … (bar the Afobe bit maybe)
Oh yeah, sorry. Pozzos are complete idiots and I can't believe we're selling literally all our forwards while only signing Afobe who is crap and I bet can't even kick a ball properly. Is that more what you had in mind?
Or constantly snipe at the club and the players without foundation, like lots of others here are doing?... Though considering I've no idea why whoever you are sees it worthwhile and your place to interject with your original comment, a snipe at you would have also been warranted.
If we are going to actually spend money on a player, then signing Afobe is a mistake. His age and limited ability tell me that.
That is why Stoke are happy to let him go on a free and why they were happy to loan him to Millwall last season - he's believed to be on £30k p/w there currently.
Still think the wages could be better spent elsewhere. He'll want at least 3 years I imagine. Last big contract and all that.
