Until I see them at LC I won't believe a word of spin from Fuxbury or Dino. Their one great skill is attributing mistakes to others. Just as Fuxbury is in the WO. Always someone else to blame but not him although he's supposed to be in charge. Utter winker.
I know it’s a rumour but it goes to show the lack budget available ….. if this is supporting the manager come hell or high water god help us. Fulham had Mitrovic, Muff had Solanke , Forest had Johnson ….. we go Afobe. Yep we got this….. HMS piss the league appears to be going all Titanic
Wheres this rumour actually come from? The only place I could see reporting it was football league world , which doesnt strike me as being the most reliable source. Not sure there's anything in this
We have also been interested him for years and once Gino and Duxbury hve their eyes on a player, they never stop, no matter how old or ***** they have become. Same reason Duxbury was prattling on about King being wanted by United despite the fact he couldn't buy a minute at a miserable Everton side.
He was whilst at Bournemouth to be fair . Think they mafe an offer too? That was the start of him getting big headed according to their fans .
Fulham bought Mitrovic as a PL club for £20m+. Bournemouth bough Solanke as a PL club for £20m. Johnson has been at Forest since he was 8. We're not in a position of going out and buying a guaranteed 20+ goals a season striker.
How about we see what our squad looks like when the transfer window closes in 2.5 months before having a pathetic meltdown already?
Again I don't believe this is the worst suggestion I've heard. No doubt he will be on a free or very small fee because Stoke want him gone. As one of the backup forwards I'd rather see him come on than Fletcher. People need to think a little more than overreacting to every article written.
Not a meltdown, just a response to a rumour and an opinion if it comes true. I’m surprised he is in our radar if our ambition is to get promoted …..agreed, lets see where we are 2.5 months and he may well come in and be perfect for our formation under Edwards - just a bit uninspiring on paper
He scored some goals in one league below us. He is already our player, so surely better him than wasting money on Adobe. Turkey's population is massive and is an established football nation. He must have something about him to be called up by them. He is also 19 years old. Love how many people are happy to write a young player off. I'm not saying he's going to be successful, but dismissing the idea that he could be a success is ridiculous.
Well he scored once. Not binning him off at all but I'd be happier seeing him develop on loan more than relying on him to deliver in the Championship.
Problem is people sling this rebuttal around every transfer window. I remember the window of the Pussetto extraction. "The window doesn't shut for 3 more weeks. Pozzo isn't going to risk relegation by this being the sole bit of business. He's not an idiot" And then the window came and went and all those people sloped away into the background without a peep. I don't think it's unreasonable for people to be concerned about the state of play given we know Sarr/Dennis with 99% be gone, Cucho seemingly on his way, and the noises coming out of the club, combined with Giaretta's incompetence last summer.
The new fella needs a look at what he has before decisions on recruitment are made. Yes the forward line is disappearing infront of our eyes but there's no need for rash decisions right now. In all fairness none of us really know what formation he intends playing yet. The window hasn't even got into full swing yet. Out of all transfers done in the Championship so far it's only Swift that I would of really wanted.
You're writing as if you're already assuming that if he were to sign he would come in as our main striker (as opposed to say just a squad option). You chose to try and equate him to Mitrovic, Solanke and Johnson as grounds for your pathetic meltdown when there's still more than enough time to also end the transfer window with another forward who is more akin to their quality. It could well be more likely (if he signs, which he hasn't even done yet), that it would make more sense to compare him to the likes of Neeskens Kabano, Siriki Dembele or Lewis Grabban.
Is there a great deal to suggest he is much better than Fletcher? His career over the last 5-6 years would suggest not. Fletcher is ***** but he is already on our books for another 4 years and we are going to struggle to move him on. I see no reason to add a 29 year old player to our books who might be marginally better and moves our 3rd choice striker to 4th choice. Another ***** scattergun quantity over quality singing.
I agree that he'd be a good backup but I can understand why people are getting their knickers in a twist seeing us linked with him before we've got our supposed first choice strikers sorted
Well he has a better overall career scoring record, over a longer period of time, so yeah, rather Afobe than Fletcher, if we can get rid of him and get anything, that would be a nice bonus
Sure, the Pussetto window did happen, but there's a difference between "being concerned" and getting in a tizz because you automatically jump to the absolute worst possible conclusion all the time, even when it's ridiculously premature - I mean, we've not even signed this guy yet, or sold anyone yet. It's absurd. And 2.5 months is a significant difference to 3 weeks.
Well Stoke looked like the wrong club at the wrong time. He then lost a child, that I can't even contemplate. But last season hit double figures for Millwall and looked ok. Rob must know him from his time at Wolves and he will certainly have a better understanding of the player than you or I. I believe he could be a shrewd acquisition at little to no fee. Fletcher from what I've witnessed looks hopeless, maybe half decent at Boro for a season but he's hardly pulling up trees in the MLS and should never of been signed in the first place.
Wouldn't JP and Cucho be the first choice atm? I could imagine the majority of the Championship clubs wouldn't mind those two as their starting strikers. I'm not stating that it should be though. I'd still prefer taller target man that they could play off.
Well it's been documented that we are prioritising strikers, Cucho has been strongly linked with a move away, as has Zinckernagel, so I wouldn't be surprised if JP plays mainly as a #10 (though if we scrimp in the forward areas, he can of course play as a striker)
I'd prefer to see JP as an AM or 10, whatever they call it these days. Him sitting behind the front two could be his ideal position.
Haha. I thought it said he'd scored 21 goals for Doncaster. My mistake. Still rather give him a chance than waste money on Adobe though. He could come good.
Not impressed if these are the strikers we’re looking at. Journeyman mid-table Championship player on inflated wages. No thanks.
