Wouldn’t surprise me if Joao Pedro wanted out in the summer to be fair. Yes he’s young - but he played more last season and he hasn’t really been trusted as much this season. He may feel like his career is stuttering a bit.

Pedro won't be wasting any more of his career here next season.

Really don't see what he would see himself learning from another season down in the muck, either, to be honest.

If Pedro is still here next season he needs to shoot his agent.

Sorry, but I think this is nonsense. The players in the 99-00 team quite palpably cared far more than the current bunch. Mooney? Robbo? Johnson? They all gave absolutely everything for the team.

Don't these two statements contradict each other, a little?

I've got no problem with those, like yourself, who have legitimate, well thought out and researched reasons for disliking the ownership.

I've also got no issue with what I imagine to be the average fan's outlook: we're at a higher level and are largely enjoying more success than we have done in the lifetime of a fan under the age of 40. Frustrations of course about certain players not being good enough, and the managerial roundabout, but mostly appreciating what they see as the bigger picture.

I guess there may be a tiny minority who are genuinely Pozzo over the club but deep down even the most dedicated Gino fans still want what's best for the club over what's best for the ownership.

Well, OK. But the overall attitude of that squad seems to me to be entirely different to the current one.

There’s another issue here, I guess, which wasn’t around back then. A dispiriting result and performance like Wednesday’s is then followed by social media posts the next morning saying happy birthday to Kabasele, or flogging the home shirt, as if the match had never happened. I get why they do it, but it really irks me.

Maybe. I think in most football squads for the last 25 years the majority of squad members see it as a job and don't really care about the club. Although I accept that issue has probably worsened across football.

Agree with your second point, although I think it definitely would have been happening if social media was around back then. I find it best to separate the club from it's online output.

He's a great prospect but do we think he's shown enough to be a prem starter for another team next season ? More likely to just be benched somewhere else. He may decide to move but it might be better for his career to be a "guaranteed" starter in the champ for a full season ? Just maybe ? Not sure how long is left on his contract ?

He’ll be better off on the bench at another club learning from better players and with a better coach to learn from who is likely to be around for more than 10 games.

That comment is aimed at a very specific sector. The group that seem to take some reflected glory in Pozzo, who giggle at when he has other owner’s pants down (not that he does much anymore) and who prioritise praising the model over supporting our individual club. But even then I’m not that bothered that they make their points, but this group do irritate me intensely so admittedly I do care what that group think I suppose!

Edit I should add this group tend to be Twitter based not really on here.

This is a good point .
How can a young player/prospect develop if the manager AND backroom staff are being replaced 2/3 times a season ?

Wouldn’t shock me if he went back to Brazil. Or there’s always the Udinese option. I imagine both would be more appealing to him than another year in the Championship.

Watford being an utter shambles is compounded by the bigger picture of football as a whole being in a dreadful place right now. Not only is most PL football utterly boring to watch, but being competitive in it is becoming light years away for most clubs. As more and more clubs get bought up as billionaire toys it squeezes others out.

We are going down and I am confident we will stay down for a few years. Hopefully that will be long enough to shake off some of the negative crap attached to us at the moment - and I include both players and fans in that.

Udinese might be an option (€2.5m fee, or swap with Zeegelaar ??) but surely a return to Brazil wouldn't be a great move it he really want to "make it" in Europe where the money is ?

I’m sure that in our first Championship game next season, JP will amongst the 15 players sitting in the Upper GT again whilst we work out how much of a loss to make on them.

In a way it will be a shame if Brentford also go down with us and Norwich, but it will also be quite helpful in providing a counter argument to the parachute payments one and shine a light on the real issue. Not that anything will change mind.

Forgot about that - all the "stars" sat in the departure lounge, waiting to see if they could ditch us for pretty much any top flight club in half of europe, despite taking us to the place they didn't want to be.

Getting rid of this individual would make a start. He was despised at West Ham for good reason.

But I can tell you what’s wrong with this ‘fan’ in particular: He’s a complete c*nt.

I don't know what was wrong with the fat, bearded **** a few rows behind us yesterday singing "you let your country down" at Rashford when he came on.

    Pathetic.

Rob Green got relentless grief for a whole season for example

First listener question on this week's Rookery End: 'is our poor home form the fans' fault?'

We've gone through the looking glass folks, where some fans will now blame themselves rather than anything the club has done.

I have seen that said before - not sure why though?

At some grounds if you lost 7 homes in a row the crowd would be going mad and the players would hardly be able to leave the pitch without some sort of criticism rather than a just a load of empty seats and tutting or shaking of heads.

Maybe they just mean the 1881 aren't very vocal but then if there isn't a lot to cheer people won't sing.

Even when we are doing well 3 sides of the ground hardly starting jumping up and down shouting!

Brilliant. Someone is so indoctrinated, that they'd rather blame themselves than bring themselves to question any decision Pozzo has made. What a strange strange fanbase we have.

In reality probably not blaming themselves but likelier a holier than thou power clapper wanting big Al to approve the theory he’s been boring everyone around him for weeks with, that if only we clapped harder we’d start winning.
