That combined with a pretty concise answer on him from Uncle Claudio seems to indicate that something’s happening.
He said it would depend on players leaving though which makes sense both with the squad numbers and the number of CBs we have. Also, hard to know how much we should read into Claudio’s comment considering that he was asked specifically about Phillips. He’s hardly going to say “nah he’s crap,” is he? Then again it was a more fulsome answer than we’ve seen previously so... Either way with William returning to Liverpool you’d imagine Phillips will be moving on one way or another. I’ve always had a feeling he’d end up at Burnley.
"Every word" here: https://www.hertfordshiremercury.co...ri-watford-transfers-phillips-norwich-6523137
I think pretty reliable West Ham sources have said he is their number one target, but a London club that isn't Arsenal is apparently also now after Diego Carlos so wonder if West Ham have changed their mind?
This would be some pretty epic behind the scenes collusion - perhaps this is the real proper business Gino does.
Amazing journalism. Particularly like the way they even include it when he repeats himself. They really do mean every word.
Tomorrow’s S*n claiming we have had a second bid knocked back… https://www.thesun.co.uk/sport/17387853/liverpool-reject-two-bids-nat-phillips-watford/
That article is just regurgitating (badly) this Liverpool Echo article: https://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/spo...news/liverpool-nat-phillips-breaking-22798514 The Echo article does not say that we’ve bid twice but that there have been two bids rejected and ours is one of them.
This isn’t certain though is it? The Liverpool local rag could know that we and another club have bid once - and The S*n (I know) could be reporting that we have also had a follow-up bid rejected?
Heard someone has gone in with a third bid. Might be us. But we are happy with our options right now. But if the third bid is us and is accepted, that might change things. Might have to move someone on before this one gets over the line. If it’s us. #OneToWatch
The amount our defence already screws up , I’m not sure signing someone called Phillips is the answer . We need some one who can glue the defence together , perhaps an East European called Bostik, or an Italian called Tapi di Gorilla .
Look forward to discussing on this afternoon's Pod, together with all the build up to tonight's crucial game and Nath's 15 minute rant about how Craig Cathcart better not be starting.
The article has inverted commas in the headline and refers to the Echo article. Generally I’ve found the Sun has two sets of transfers articles: one lot that aggregates other rumours and exclusives. This is the former.
I gather getting @NathWFC onto a public speaking platform can be a bit of a disappointment if you're expecting fireworks and expletives
5 Live got lucky. Got me after the first game of the season with a win and gave me 15 seconds. Get me on there after we lose 4-0 to Norwich tonight...
No, as @LeedsOrn is referring to, the problem is that you're not very good at reading. The Sun article which you posted a link to also literally does not say that we had two bids rejected. The Sun article only says that Liverpool have rejected two bids for him and that Watford are "chasing him". In fact, the Sun article doesn't even say that even one of the two bids rejected were from us, let alone both (even though we've gathered from elsewhere that we have had one bid rejected). So the second bid could be from a club other than us. Or even, the Sun may believe that we are interested, but think that two bids have been made from club(s) which aren't even us.
I mean is that entirely necessary? And given the amount of mistakes you make around here, I’m not really going to take advice from you in how to rectify my own. I bet you’re fun at parties.
@lowerrous - this was quite unnecessary not least because I had replied earlier to @Burnsy explaining why I thought his reading was incorrect.
I wouldn’t bother. He’s clearly having one of his days where he doesn’t think he’s getting enough attention. I politely pointed out an error/misjudgment he made in the Asprilla thread earlier and it’s probably got to him.
In fairness to Burnsy — the original article did actually say we had two bids rejected; they just amended it
