Think I'd rather have King as a centre forward (people have a go at Deeney for not getting in the box, well JP is also something of a deep-lying forward albeit with more ability than Deeney now), Cucho is probably better than JP now out wide, and Dennis is a speed machine which will be very useful in certain scenarios this season. I would not necessarily complain if I see JP on the teamsheet mind you!
So why not show the full post if he is not trying to have my comment taken out of context, which is exactly what he is trying to do by EDITING what I wrote
JP often plays as a false 9 but it doesnt stop him getting into the box and scoring. If Dennis, Cucho and King are good enough to keep JP out of the team we should have a very good season.
He's certainly not as bad as Deeney for getting into the right areas, but he's not an out an out centre forward in the traditional sense, and in a season where we'll be up against it a lot, I'm not entirely sure that's the best way to go
I thought Pedro was more of a wide attacker for now tbh? Anyway he is injured now probably for months.
Talk on twitter from arsenal fans is that we are playing Arsenal on Wednesday in another behind closed doors friendly apparently. We’re about to upset Stevenage again haha. We will send the youngsters to play them on Tuesday and save the big boys for Arsenal on Wednesday.
No one seems very sure . Probably be a mixture of first team and kids. https://mobile.twitter.com/APresserV2/status/1419404811850633222
Good link up player but struggled to score in a promotion season in the champ and goals will be even tougher to come by in the prem. Great option from the bench ........when fit again.
It's interesting because it shows how valued Gray was under Gracia because it took a wonder FA Cup semi final sub show from Delefeo to get his starting place back off of Gray. People have criticised Gray fairly at times and rightly so and want him to leave now and rightly so again, but he hasn't always been bad for us, and definitely not Watford's worst ever signing. And before people mention transfer fees again that's not his fault.
... but is still a completely relevant and normal factor to take into account when judging how good/bad/meh a signing has turned out to be.
Well at the time you had an 18m and a £15 attacker fighting for a place alongside Deeney who was the club captain and valued in excess of £20 million by the club at the time. Sounds fair enough to me. Gracia could only play 2 and never likely to drop Deeney. Personally i think all 3 did a job for us. 11th place and an FA Cup final. Might be waiting a while before Watford reach those heights again.
A quick check would tell you that Deulofeu started ahead of Gray in 6 of the 7 games prior to the FA Cup Semi Final. Gray's only start being against Man City where we dropped a few regulars because of the upcoming FA Cup Quarter Final. He also started less than half the games while Javi was in charge.
I'm assuming tonight's game isn't being shown by the club. A Premier League club and they can't set up a stream, something which non-league clubs seem to be able to do.
Gray was still preferred over Delefeo against Wolves in one of the biggest matches in Watford's history. Not bad at all.
Barnsley have announced they have cancelled the game against us on Saturday and are now playing Man City instead.
Their website says "we would like to thank Watford for their understanding", so it's them. Also the City game is behind closed doors at training ground.
My 10 yr old was so excited to be going back for a game, even though it was a friendly he just loves being there and was looking forward to seeing the new players and some of the youngsters play. Just told him and he cried, shame they can’t get another opponent in as imagine lots of those going weren’t overly bothered about the opposition! He now hates Barnsley
