Really don't get why we're playing two games in such quick succession, why not just get the full squad getting used to playing with one another?
I'm assuming most of the starting line up will do about 70+ mins tonight and the same for the other guys tomorrow. By playing two games in quick succession the players can get the same minutes, rather than someone coming off the bench and getting 30 mins while someone else gets an hour. I'm not sure though. I'm sure our new fitness coach knows what he's doing. I hope...
I'm split about this, not that I actively want us to lose games, but if this convinces Xisco that 4-4-2 is a no-go, it might not be the end of the world? Then again, it's more than likely that however badly we play, it will make no impact on whether we start the season playing 4-4-2...
Thats my thinking too. I'm all for using these games to try something new but surely the squad would benefit more by playing alongside each other than all these trialists and youth players that more than likely wont be featuring in the first team this season

I can't quite understand our pre-season strategy. I don't really care about results, but we seem to be taking the behind closed doors matches relatively seriously while treating the official matches with fans with utter contempt. An elaborate strategy to lower expectations / lull rivals into a false sense of security?
Get used to that. This is what happens when players like Cathcart and WTE are asked to play it out from the back. They are basic defenders. Good at that, but ball players they are not.

Cathcart and Hughes are a great advertisement for Pozzo contract strategy. Give the donkey a 2 year extension until 34 when he still has 2 years and let Hughes deal run down. Scott and Gino do their business properly.
