And Dennis too if he comes good. To be fair to Sarr he did score 13 goals last season from the wing. He does need to be more clinical but he does score goals and creates havoc down the right flank.
King is a much more talented player than Gray etc, the question is has he still got it? He played a lot of his PL career out of position due to Callum Wilson. If he can get back to his level as a #9, we're staying up.
If we play Troy and Cucho together there aren't enough goals in the team to stay up. Playing 433 in the PL u can only afford 1 of the front 3 to be low on goals.
Yes, but the central player must have the pace to get into a goalscoring position to receive the pass into the box otherwise you are playing a 4312 formation and not able to use your wingers properly
"The Hornets' long-serving captain Troy Deeney, 33, was called 'Tom Deeney' on the teamsheet for Saturday's friendly against West Brom. " What? Why are the BBC printing a minor typo as a transfer rumour?
Troy should be no where near the starting 11 King is no slouch, last season JP could keep up with Sarr, Dennis is quick, Cucho at 9 will be quick... lots of options
I have to say I was very pessimistic about this season BUT a front 3 of Cucho King Sarr has got be dreaming again! Think the midfield 3 needs work and some cover at CB but overall I think the pace of the front 3 is exciting!
Just watching the highlights, who was the new number 9? He looks a handful, exactly the type of striker we’ve been crying out for
Yes. 100%. Actually to be fair to Troy he seems to have really put the effort to regain speed and fitness. He deserves real credit. Who knows how much game time he will get this season but he's clearly not allowed himself to go to seed and drift into his media career. Hope there's a final hurrah to his wfc career this season. Would have been sad for it to have ended the way it did last season.
Sorry if this has been covered before but can anyone who was at the game yesterday say how the new digital entry system performed. A - It worked very well indeed and is a huge improvement on the card-based entry system; B - there was some queuing but it wasn't too bad; C - It was total chaos, God knows what it'll be like for a league match.
That wasn’t equipment ‘trouble’. It was just difficult to muffle the speakers whilst they munched off Duxbury during the game.
If you think that indicates they never learn, just wait until we start the season with Ngakia at LB and give Kabasele 30+ games.
I can beat that. Starting front two of Gray and Success for the first 19 games. Then let's see us get out of the relegation trap door.
I know posting something positive on this forum is poison, but I think our forward line is better now than two seasons ago and our defense has improved slightly from two years ago. Had we still Capoue and Doucoure on our books, I really believe we'd have a very decent season. We're just two quality midfielders away from being a solid mid-table side. If we only sign one more of said quality, then as long as we keep Hughes and Chalobah we wont be going down.
If Deeney has a future at WFC I think he needs to play in a deeper playmaker type role as he is pretty good at playing others in and he is also quite useful helping out in defence especially when defending set pieces. His biggest problem could be his lack of pace, but if he was allowed to basically sit in and around the centre circle it might just work?
Yes well done you made a joke. Not sure if it’s good enough to repeat immediately afterwards , or even good enough to post in the first place seeing as it’s as old as the hills .
Hughes going will be failure to renew his contract 2 year ago while simultaneously extending the contracts of Success, Cathcart, Deeney etc.
Yes I agree with this, the impression that I got is that he would be a lot better around better midfielders as he done the dirty work very well. I didn't think Clevs was up to much yesterday and Dan Gosling looked a bit sloppy in possession. Yeah the trialist done more than enough to show that he is capable enough as 3rd choice and a starter for the under 23s. His first contribution was a tough tackle on Phillips and aftrrwards a belter of a ball over the top for Cucho ton run on to.
To be fair to the WD18 lads they have actually been quite critical of Troy, when they had him on their show recently Deeney even mentioned this to them.
After we signed him I had a little look on the Muff fans forum to see what their opinions were regarding King. Most people people agreed that he is a very good finisher and is far better down the middle. A lot of Muff fans said he was no longer quick but that was evidently not true as he looked pacey yesterday.
Bear in mind one of them has just said he would start Sema, who was notably slow for the Championship, in the Prem over any other option we have because he will 'work hard and track back'.
Just noticed the match report on the official site for the Brentford match. Our first half team was: Bachmann, Trialist, Sierralta, Kabasele, Rose, Louza, Lo-Everton, Fletcher, Baar, Dennis.........doesn't look like such a weak team, but we were trailing 0-2 at half time. Second half had lots of changes. Dalhberg, Triailist, Langston, Trialist, Andrews, Muwonge, Smith, Wise, Critchlow, Mubude, Hunter. Match Report: Watford 1-3 Brentford - Watford FC No Hughes, Zinckernagel or Hungbo. Not sure what's happened to Hungbo. Is he injured? The club did confirm Pedro, Kiko, Chalobah, Quina, TDB were all out on Friday.
I can't fathom wanting to accommodate Deeney as a midfielder. It reminds me of the attempts to include Rooney at the tail end of his England career. Why completely change the make-up of the team, and stink out a slightly different area of the pitch, just to try to paper over Deeney's flaws? If I was a professional midfielder employed by the club I'd be seething if this happened.
King Ken roasted defenders in the Champo with power, guile and technique though. Having watched the likes of Pereyra and Deulofeu swanning around the pitch in their ballet shoes, I'm delighted to see Watford players 'working hard and tracking back'. I think Ken will play over 1500 minutes next season and there'll be few complaints about his performances.
That would be deeply embarrassing and utterly tragic. Once again sabotaging our season pandering to one man's ego.
Don't get me wrong, I love Ken's personality, mentality and workrate/effort, but he was shown to be really pretty one-dimensional as an attacker in the Championship, and again, made to look pretty slow by right backs from the collective likes of Millwall, Huddersfield and Preston North End. We saw what he was like the in the Prem before, and the answer was mostly 'not good enough to make the team'. If our only real threat is pace in attack forcing the opposition not to just bear down on us for every second of each 90 minutes we play this season, then Sema is not the answer and this WDweebery approach is not the one. If anything, it would make far more sense to bring him on as a hardworking 'defensive' wide player later in a game when protecting a lead or preserving a point, by this bloke's logic.
