To be fair we have had players that were good enough (e.g. Lukebakio, Berghuis, Cucho, Suarez, Estupinan). We just loaned them out.
Banter in the article saying 'he is in no mood to play in the Championship next year'... He's very selective is our Bobby. He was in no mood to play in the PL last season either.
He was at Torino until he got sacked recently, Pereyra was linked with them, saw something that they're still interested. Just how interested is debatable...
If he actually said that we should stop paying him until we accept an offer. Surely he's basically refusing to do the job he's being paid for?
I think the correct price for Pereyra is nearer £4m. We are never going to get £12m for a player that had such a poor season
Maybe - but he possibly only had a poor season in the eyes of those who saw him most (us). Elsewhere he was regularly in Argentina’s squad so his stock could be quite high in other circles.
£5m only buys you half of luis Suarez , Bobby has to be worth more than £4m Shirley. but you are right last season wouldn’t be a selling point
Almost the complete opposite of Jose. He was disgraceful last year but kept being picked by multiple coaches! The sooner he is gone the better. Any money we get for him is legalised theft. All the ability but none of the character required. Such a shame.
https://twitter.com/FabrizioRomano/status/1305599236118114305 Cheeky tweet from Rodrigo de Paul, seems like he's agreed something with Leeds a la Doucoure with Everton a while before he officially signed for them. Udinese want €40m for him, no idea if that's feasible, but you'd guess Pereyra would be their replacement, even if Roma are interested
You'd think Pereyra would be an adequate, if uninspiring, replacement for de Paul, he'd probably do quite well back in Italy (not that you'd expect them to properly reinvest that money lol)
After relegation, he was the first one I had down as going. He was going to go regardless of relegation to be fair to him. Another great player on his day, and a really nice, charitable guy off it. Lost his way over the past couple of years, but still a class act and an Argentine international.....not had many of those before. I personally wish him good luck at his next club.
Makes me respect him more than some of the other wantaways. By asking to leave, he’s forgoing any payment from us on his departure so at least he’ll be helping us financially.
He has played like he doesn't want to be at Watford for some time now. Given how sheepish he has been since his injury I wonder how his knee will hold up through a medical.
I agree with you. I don't doubt the likes of Welbeck & Deulofeu want a move as well but are playing poker to avoid missing out on payments.
Or, wishful thinking on my part, the club feel the immediate concern financially has been lifted with the departures of Doucoure, Estupinan, Pereyra and Capoue. Of course there would be more work to do in terms of refinancing but perhaps the pressure is lifted with the above departures and now it’s a case of players will only leave in the event of a great offer. Unlikely I know but you never know!
I was so excited about Bobby P when he joined, having been an absolute star for me for many years on various editions of FM. Scored some cracking goals and had some games where he was basically unplayable (as per FM), but sadly these were far too few and far between, particularly after his injury he picked up at City. Another one where I'm left saying thanks for the memories, but i'm not surprised that this is the way he's going. Has had one foot out the door for 18 months and was anonymous for approximately 95% of last season.
Ex international. His time with Argentina is over. Better younger players ahead of him in his position. He has been a waste of space and resources for the last season and a bit. Reluctant to celebrate with team mates and half hearted when he has played. Thinks he is too good for us. If pay was performance related he would be barely scraping a living. The sooner he departs and takes his stinking attitude with him the better.
Never felt he wanted to be here. Always linked with a move away and seemed to always be injured when the going got a bit tough, never up for the fight. Him going is a plus.
