Has ‘exclusively’ told Fox Sports in Argentina that he wants to leave at the end of the season for a new challenge. Wouldn’t be entirely shocked if we cashed in this month... https://twitter.com/foxsportsarg/status/1215018168466526214?s=21
Idiot! He can leave now. Just screws us over fee wise. He has 18months left. January fees are inflated. Him saying this will now make clubs low ball us. Realistically in today’s markets he’s worth £17mil-£20mil. Him making this statement. We will get offers of £15mil and below. That will only decrease in the summer. Cash in, terrible attitude against Tranmere. Him and Gray were by far the worst players on the pitch. He doesn’t want to be here anymore. Grateful for all he has done. Been one of the best players to put on a watford shirt. Thoroughly enjoyed watching him but time to say goodbye.
He’d be a good signing for a team that plays in a warmer climate. Seem to get the best out of him in the sunshine. We should send a scout out to south of Spain, maybe get a swap deal for a player that would like the challenge of premier league Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I can't imagine he'll have said anything in this interview his agent isn't telling clubs privately. It'll have no effect on his value.
I agree he should have just kept quiet and spoken of his wishes privately to those who can help his situation. In saying that, he doesn’t seem one to kick up a fuss or refuse to play or whatever and he’s just doing what all players do these days - putting himself in the shop window. I wouldn’t sell him in this window without a replacement. We need to add a wide player as it is - we’d need 2 if we let him go. January should be a month where we sell what’s surplus and then bolster where we are short.
With Pedro having arrived, Sarr, Deulofeu, Penaranda on the way back and Welbeck, I can't see Giraldi sanctioning another wide man signing before the summer.
Agree we shouldn’t sell but we now have no choice. He’s publicly stated that he doesn’t want to be here. That doesn’t do the camp morale any good. I know he said the summer, but when you’re heart is not in something anymore than you coast. See it all the time in the work environment. The person that hands in their notice to leave, the next 2-4weeks they are with the company, they put zero effort in and do the minimum. His head is gone, we are in a relegation fight and we need people 100% committed to the cause. So I hope we sell him this window, chuck the money we get for him and some at Brentford for *Ollie Watkins or *Benrahma. Young, hungry and want to prove themselves. * these two are probably unrealistic for this window, but you get the point.
No loss at all. Has the occasional purple patch where he's unplayable for about 8 games a season and that's it. Inconsistent and not committed to the cause. Bye.
It's sad but feels like the right time. He has been overall a great signing for us, and I have a feeling the fact a player like him was prepared to play for us helped paved the way for the likes of deulofeu to come here. He is the calibre of player we should be signing now. Not junior ***ing stanislas.
He should consistently have looked heads and shoulders above the rest of our squad given his credentials. Truth is, he rarely has. Was injured for ages and hid away. Will always remember the goal against Leicester though.
Also, don't underestimate the impact that not being a first choice starter for lowly old Watford may actually have on his standing as an Argentinian international/top-rated player. I can see why he'd want to leave as he's not going to displace Gerry D or Sarr in the wide positions now, and in our current set up the no.10 position needs an energetic pressing midfielder first and foremost. I'd much rather have him in the squad as an option - but it seems like this transfer window is the best time to cash in for both parties.
Yes it's a tricky situation. It's a squad game but we are not a big enough club to have a player like pereyra on the bench. A player like him comes here as he expects to be a first team starter week in, week out. It must be one of the main reasons he came here: to play. Overall we will be weaker when he leaves, for sure. So we must keep him until the summer, even if it means we get fewer millions for him in the summer.
I'd prefer to cash in now and use the money to strengthen the defence. I'm not sure how he fits into the starting 11 at present unless Sarr or Delia get injured. Cover at the back is less than wafer thin. If we are relegated he will leave for next to nothing in the summer as we cut our costs.
Suspect that injuries have probably meant he couldn't fulfil his potential. Think he had a bad one before he joined and then her that one with us. When you look at his pre-Watgord highlights he looks like an all action midfielder, bursting into the box and shedding tacklers. Now he sort of shuffles around on the periphery, showing the odd moment of class.
Do you have any confidence that our scouts are able to strengthen the defence? Do you have any confidence that our fitness coaches are able to prevent sarr or deulo getting injuries? I don't, so I'd rather keep our argie maestro.
He’s not a dynamic powerful rangy midfielder or a super quick wide forward so he doesn’t really fit the Pearson way. I don’t have a problem with him recognising that and wanting away. Best of luck to him. I Appreciate what he’s contributed and hope fans are fair with him.
Obviously his heads ot with us and our needs. Surely that interview will of annoyed the powers at the club. Get him out asap if hes not up for the fight .
I expect he is lowish wages (compared to say Deeney and Gray), but he has looked a luxury throughout 2019. At least Deulofeu has bought into the extra effort and all the team defends attitude of recent games. He is still one of our most talented players, and would be difficult to replace. But with Sarr and Deulofeu bagging the first tyeam spots, now would be a reasonable time to offload. I see Penaranda is coming back - so maybe another sign that we are planning to cash in.
Also getting called out in front of the team on day one might not have been his best first impression of Pearson. Some people respond well to criticism, some respond well to encouragement. He's definitely the latter and doesn't look his jolly self right now. At his best, he's still one of the top players here.
He slow-clapped him onto the training ground for taking a bit too long getting his kit on... and that video was made public by our media team. Seemed an odd thing to post but they are fairly brainless.
Bobby P It's not to be We didn't forsee You'd become lazy But Nigel did When he slowclapped you And called you out As a lazy poo So all the best And be on your way Take your Baby Shark And feck off to Serie A
No problem with him going in the summer, but if we let him go in this window it'd be beyond moronic. We are an injury or two away from collapsing and if he does go we all know he won't be replaced, at least not properly. One of Deulofeu or Sarr go down and we've let Pereyra go, and we are up **** creek.
A player who has no defensive qualities whatsoever, who bottles a 90/10 tackle in his favour, a player who disappears for large parts of a game...I'd say he's just collecting a salary and wouldn't feature much if at all had we a fully fit squad. Cash in now while the market is inflated - offer him to Torino in exchange for cash and Ola Aino or Alessandro Buongiorno.
Major over-analysis from you guys on here. He just smiled back at him it was all light-hearted. Bloody hell, over analysing 3 seconds of footage from one angle is a major problem nowadays.
He's still one our more talented players and a goal threat. Yes he has his flaws and looks to be lacking motivation, but if Deulofeu or Sarr get injured then who comes in? Hughes back on the wing offering nothing again? Success? Welbeck before he inevitably goes down too? We need him until the end of the season.
Agreed, unless we replace him with someone who does want to be here and is likely to get in the team ?
Yes, he seems to have lost a bit of motivation and wants out in the summer. To be fair to him, it was a step down when he joined and he's stuck around a while and has always had a smile on his face. Those saying he should just be shown the door ASAP seem to be overstating the depth we have in the squad currently. He's not demanding a move in this window, and I'm sure he will only move in January if it suits all parties to do so. Considering our options on the wing currently, it should have to be some bid for us to say yes this month without a replacement.
