    Orny s explanation of his wage makes more sense . Even with Chelsea cash 35k for an 18 year who has never even been on the bench seems unfeasible

    It is not uncommon for clubs to tie players down to contracts with huge wages. This is Man City mind.

    And then a year or so ago, Arsenal were paying Frimpong around £30k a week.

    Basically, this is done to safegaurd them. No other club will come in a try and buy them because their wages are so high. In today's footballing world, I'd say the reported £35k a week for Chalobah isn't far off the mark for a club like Chelsea. He is on a 5-year pro deal.

    Apparently Chelsea were trying to get him to go elsewhere, but was given the final choice, and he insisted he wanted to return to us; despite other clubs being willing to pay his full wages.

    Until he signs and is announced offically then there is no need to get excited. Its Chelsea we are dealing here, they make U turns and steal players from other clubs faster than a Vydra dash into the box.

    The number of times papers have 'exclusive transfer headlines' that turn out to be rubbish is endless. They don't care if they get it wrong.

    Obviously I hope it's true but I wouldn't say it's certain just because it's in a tabloid paper during the international break when there is no other news for them to report
