Good Championship player but can't really see him getting the nod ahead of O'Shea, Brown or Turner.

According to GH Mr O'Neil might want to re-call Nyron back to Sunderland which would be disappointing but maybe not such a surprise.

He's really not good enough to be playing for Sunderland week in week out, he's not a Premier League defender.

I think its more a case that O'Neill is concerned about the excessive number of Sunderland players out on long term loans and would just as sooner get rid altogether than still have the likes of Nosworthy on the books for years without playing for the club.

We've got some funds available I believe.Would be a sensible purchase IMO especially if Swansea chasing Aidy are true

If Nosworthy goes back, we might as well just pack up for the season and prepare for life in League 2.

I'd love to see Nosworthy alongside Taylor

    That would be hilarious

Agree, top half championship defender. You need to be able to play a bit more football, not simply a defender, in the premiership

I reckon that not a bad idea. Not much would get past, bags of experience, both good in the air, Nosworthy has the pace to get him self out of trouble. Hadn't thought of it before but i reckon you might be right

If we sold Mapps in January for £2mil-£2.5mil..... what would Nosworthy cost? £1mil? Surely no more?

"Martin O'Neill is set to watch Nyron Nosworthy play for Watford on Saturday as he ponders recalling some players from loan in January.

The Black Cats boss is taking stock of his available resources before the transfer window opens up and will go to Watford's match against Doncaster in preference to West Ham's clash with Derby - because George McCartney is suspended.

Sunderland currently have Nosworthy on loan at Watford, McCartney at West Ham, Cristian Riveros at Kayserispor, Asamoah Gyan at Al-Ain and Liam Noble at Carlisle United.

"You get to know the players more every week you work with them but obviously we are still at the learning stage in the first few weeks," he said.

"We have good players here already and I'm determined that everyone will get a chance at some stage to show what they can do and have an opportunity to push for a place in the first-team squad.

"I think it's only natural for me, having just taken over, not to want players to go out on loan immediately. I want to see what I've got and I want to work with the players to see what difference it might make to them.

"But I'm also looking at going out to see the players we already have on loan - like Nyron Nosworthy at Watford for example.

"I want to be up to date on everything and I think it's very important that we have our loan players watched and have full and clear reports on them.

"In an ideal world you want to assess everyone but you can't do everything immediately and we have to accept that we're in a run of games in a short space of time that demand our full attention.

"One advantage perhaps though of those six or seven games right now is having to utilise everyone to get through them and in doing that, you'll get to look at a lot of the players."

I could only see Norswothy going back as cover..Bramble and Brown must be first choice for them (which probanly doesn't say much!)

1mil on a 31 year old is a lot of money for us. He would be on a fair old whack as well.
I reckon we'd get him for much less than that anyway, he's nowhere near Sunlun's first team.

If O'Neill agrees to let Nos leave then I cant see it being more than half a mil to buy him

I would be more concered that O'Neil has a better look at Mapps and Hogg, who he knows from his Villa days.

If they both perform as they have been he might be happy to let Nosworth join us !!

There isn't a cat in hells chance that we will sign him perm, wages, transfer fee being the 2 obvious ones, and the fact he would have to sell up and move to a more expensive area on less wages.I can not see it happening unless he is completely desperate to play first team footy in the championship.

Nosworthy wouldn't cost a lot in transfer fees at all. He's a 31 year old, failed Premier League centre back who's hardly played in years before he came to us, and considering his wages Sunderland would probably be quite happy just to get him off the books. Why would he possibly cost something ridiculous like £1m?

If he really wants to just play football and thinks he's made his money then he's a genuine possibility on a permanent I'd say, if however he wants even half of what he's on at Sunderland then we don't have a hope.

I guess it would be a similar deal to that of Martin Taylor. The challenge Bassini has is whether he wants to risk having two relatively expensive older centre backs on the books.

Doesn't his contract expire in 6 months? In which case I could see him being available either on a free, or a couple of hundred thousand. Lets just hope he plays rubbish on Saturday...

Not happy to see Wes Brown go off injured for Sunderland yesterday, just one more stumbling block to us extending Nyrons loan.....Great game and great result though.

so nyron is being allowed to play for us in the cup now. i reckon that the loan will be extended or terms will be reached for him to come permanently after the weekend. really don't think he is in martin o'neil's plans.

Interesting to read the first few pages of this, I wonder how many posters look back at their "ITK" observations and think what a muppet they were. Perhaps with Chamberlains comments, and Deeneys thoughts on being booed (his interview in the programme) we could cut out this torrent of instant rubbish at every decision or signing. :sign15:
