At the moment, what would your starting XI and formation etc be?

Bayo
An attacking formation with plenty of speed and danger. Maybe not the best defence wise, but solid enough for the Champioship Maybe?

Assume many have heard the absurd story about a young Jinping seeing the Chinese national side getting thrashed 5-1 by a touring Watford team in the 1980s. Apparently drove his desire to try to improve Chinese football.

 

Also spurred him to ensure every single nuke in their growing arsenal is pointed directly at the Vic.

That’s just my starting XI, not one that I think will actually materialise against Sheff Utd.

 

Yes would like to see that but doubt he will risk Hungbo ….and Sarr and/Dennis will be sold.

Bachmann confirmed by RE today as first-choice keeper to start the season

 

Not surprised given the pre-season line-ups.

Can already smell the loan move in January for Okoye.

 

So in the year we got relegated by doing things on the cheap we spent over £5m on a keeper who isn't as good as our number two from last season? Another example of terrible recruitment and wasted finances from the club. I hate to say I told you so but...

 

Anything to be critical.

 

To me it makes sense to start the season with experience in goal, rather than a debutant. One less thing to worry about.

I’d also hope we have a season with really good competition for the role of main keeper.

Okoye’s time will come for sure. But he’s still relatively young.

I wonder if Hamer starts on the bench next week, to free up a homegrown spot in the matchday squad?

 

I think it's a valid point. We've dropped a level and this guy still can't get ahead of Bachmann. People would say exactly the same about an outfield player. For example, say Cleverley starts ahead of Kayembe, why did we spend money on a guy who can't even start ahead of Cleverley in a lesser division when finances are tight?

 

If Hamer is on the bench on match days, Okoye will be gone by the end of August

 

There are probably things regarding the club and the owner where criticism is completely subjective, but this is pretty black and white and I think most would struggle to see anything positive in it.

It’s yet another case of Gino seeing imaginary pound signs way off in the future, and ignoring glaring issues in the here and now resulting in a far greater cost than the imaginary pound signs would’ve ever made him.
