AV's joy at salvation was tempting but they preferred to see the despair on our faces and be able to zoom in on Deeney at full-time. I expect Nigel "I'd practically saved them" Pearson will be the in-studio expert.
They hate us. We hate us. Everyone hates us.

This is what gives me confidence. West Ham looked really good at United. If they reach anything like that level against Villa, it will be really tough for Villa to win.

This gives us a chance. We need to do the business at Arsenal and see where that takes us. I think even a point maybe enough for us.

The thing is Villa have the momentum, and the football gods have really smiled on them. The goal VAR chalked off for Sheff Utd and Palace, which gave Villa a probable extra 4 points, the inside of the post Arsenal hit in the final minutes on Tuesday, even then Reina nearly fumbled it in. We've had a tonne of bad luck all season.

These sequences always come to an end. I can't guarantee it will be balanced on Sunday, but I think there's a fair chance something will go our way or against Villa for once.

Looking at the fans forums, Villa thing they've done it. They're very dismissive of us. This often happens. When you think it's in the bag, it's not......when you think you've blown it, something goes your way.

I'm not saying we'll definitely stay up, but I think we have a far better chance than people think.

I admire your confidence given the ability and mental state of our team. I hope it lasts longer than the first 5-10 mins on Sunday.

Club web page now has an article by Mullins and he says “We know what we have to do”. Yep I do too. Perform and get the prayer mats out. Simple really

My confidence doesn't come from what I've seen in our recent matches, although I disregard the City game. That was just an unfortunate fixture for us. When City are that strong, there are very few teams that can live with them. Even Liverpool lost 4-0 to them recently.

My Confidence comes from the situation. Watford players always had in the back of their mind, "we can fix this in the next match"....but now that notion has gone. There are no more next games. I think the realisation that many of them may not be Premier League players again will really focus the mind. Pay cuts will also do this.

They know they have to perform this time, or else they will be relegated. We are a much better side, or rather, we are capable of reaching a much higher level of performance than we have been showing of late.

It is an advantage playing away games with no fans. It is good playing a side with not only nothing to play for but who have a huge game in their following match. No one wants to get injured for that game. These are all small differences, that play to our advantage. Arsenal are not City. Sure they have good players, but they do not pull you apart with crisp passing, great first touch and vision as much as City....no one does.

Of course, it's still a huge ask for us to pull it off......but I think we've got a very good chance of doing just that. Let's just say, I think the omens for this are good.

Whilst I think Villa may not win, I have absolutely no confidence that we'll get anything but roundly beaten by Arsenal.

Basically win by three clear goals and we’re almost guaranteed to stay up. A monumentally tall and unlikely order, but at least they know what they’ve got to do.

I don't think it's out of the question that we will get a 0-0 draw. But I don't think it's possible that we will win, or that AV will lose given what's at stake. I don't think we will score on Sunday.

We've kept a clean sheet twice in 16 games. We are likely to start Mariappa. Not going to happen.

Unless AV win by 2 goals....... which is more likely than us winning by 3.....

Agreed, but they’re extremely toothless and rarely score two. It all depends on WH though and how much fight they’d have in them if Villa take the lead.

...I guess they probably score 2 more often than we score 3 and keep a clean sheet ??

Ok, I’ll take a 5-2 win for us then.

You can’t rewrite history what’s happened has happened but we still have a chance to write this down as one of the great escapes. How many of us will dare to watch the game. After watching last nights games and listening to what is going on elsewhere and watching grown men cry I for one will. Trouble with the country today is that there is too much negative thinking. Come on you orns

After those dodgy results in the Championship last night I can see a few strange results. But momentum is with Villa. That look strong, fight for one another and are scoring a few. The luck is and has been with them. I can't honestly see us scoring, especially if they put out a negative lineup like we do. Change it around and just go for it. What happens, happens.

It is still in our hands to stay up. We have no excuses. We don't need any other teams to do us a favour. We'd have taken this scenario when we were rooted to the bottom without a win.

Arsenal are 10th, behind burnley and sheff utd. This is not some impossible task. If it was man city away we'd be doomed. But there is hope.

We have a chance. A hope of a chance. A glimmer of a hope of a chance.
A chance at a brighter tomorrow?

There's always hope. Always. One candle goes out in the darkness, and we strike another match. That's the way we roll.

    *stands on table*

All we need to do, to succeed, to BE... is to dream a dream and live that dream.
    Hope never dies.

    *Cold-play music underneath*

I've had a saggy ballsack for 2 years now. It's debilitating, but I've never let it get me down. Sometimes it gets so sweaty, I have to pull it up, and tuck it over my entire penis. I look like an Action Man. But the thing is, the thing I never forget, is that there's always hope. Hope.

    *Stirring Snow Patrol music*

I'm crying with joy now. Not sadness. When I think of the power of hope. Of the power of dreams. And the way ONE MAN. One tiny, insignificant man with a saggy ballsack could - with the hope of a prayer of a glimmer of a chance... change this old world we live in for the better.

Never give up my fellow hornets. Never give up.

I suspect the plan will be to keep it tight and try to nick a goal keeping an eye on the AV score. If they are still drawing with 25 mins to go, go all out for the win. If they go infront at any point, go all out for the big win. I guess they won't want to see us concede early goals by playing attacking football, get hammered, and then see AV go up with a 0-0 draw.

I'm crying like a baby now. We can do this. We really can. I've seen the light and I believe. Nothing can stop us if we all pull together. If Gino wants it, we will go and get it. We BLOODY will do this.
    Must win game.

I thought this as well. We've been awful until we go behind when we have pretty much improved in every game. It's as though the players were scared but going behind forced their hand a bit and had to take more risks. Strangely the worst thing that could happen on Sunday would be for West Ham to take an early lead as then were back in that we don't have to do anything scenario

I think this would be the best plan, Arsenal will take us apart on the counter attack if we have a go at them and they struggle to break teams down. Try and counter them or get something from a set piece because Arsenal are no good at defending set pieces. Dawson hat trick ;)

Of course your right. I'm just a dreamer. But we keep it, about as tight as Jordans fanny.

Good news - I don't see Lacazette or Aubameyang playing. A Gunners blog also predicted they will play 'the kids'.

Bad news - It'll likely be the same 4-2-3-1 setup, 10 of the same players from the last match (only likely change Welbeck for Pereyra).

Any chance you could nip to highbury on Sunday before the game and talk to the team about your saggy ball sack.
Should do the trick I think, so inspiring.
Ps. Dont forget the cold play music.

I was thinking if we were to go down after stuffing runaway champions Liverpool, has there ever been a result as remarkable for a relegated side?

Only thing comparable I can think of is when Stockport took four points of Keegan's Man City.
