Maybe someone just forgot to pay it and they will be removed ASAP like that Riva chap was when we had the dodgy bank note/cheque ?

Megamu Academy in Nigeria and Samuel Kalu.
I didn't know that they had Academies back in the days when Kalu was younger.
He is closer to Meganu Care Home now.

So there is truth in this based on the WO statement but how confusing that Kalu has played in Europe for a number of years and any payment to an academy would surely be made by the first club he played for in Europe. Maybe they were allowed to hold a third party ownership %? Who knows? Certainly none of us that's for sure. The whole thing makes little sense and a minor issue.
In the meantime we have signed a player today and also won 2.3m compensation for the Gueye broken contract.

Once maybe, but not paying after the recipient followed up on it would seem to be a systemic issue.

Not impossible that someone in the finance department might have erroneously thought it was a scam and discarded it, I suppose.

    "Dear Sir/Madam,

Your new signing Samuel Kalu, spent 6 years in our academy between 1980 and 1986. As a result, we are entitled to £250 for every appearance Kalu makes for Watford Football Club.

    Kindest regards,

    An Academy in Nigeria"

Watford Intern: "1980? That can't be right, the club statement says he's 24! SPAM"

Think it’s safe to say that Giaretta is that big of an idiot that he’s 100% the culprit for this mess up.

Clubs that have helped develop a player (I think it's all the clubs before the player turned 23 years old) split a small portion of every subsequent transfer fee. So the previous clubs he's played for would have also had to pay a bit of a fee.

Baffles me how these payments aren't automated in this day and age - fifa have a transfer matching portal where both buying and selling team have to input details of the transfer and contracts etc. If both sides match the transfer is verified by fifa and becomes official. Surely that process can be expanded to do all this without needing to track down each club etc.

Wishful thinking. Got to pay those corrupt officials their 6-7 figure salary somehow.

Always funny to see some so excited to have a moan, unable even to wait 24 hours from a story dropping that had such limited detail. Until next time, where we'll do it all over again!

For me it looks more like BedWetters celebrating like they've won the World Cup, before turning to see the linesman/Andrew French with his flag up

Haha, how petty that you've gone to the trouble of trawling through this thread to make a point just because people have different opinions.

    Have a good day, WT!

Don't see how it's a difference of opinion, just a premature outburst, or a misreading of a situation from some...

It's a 5 page thread, it took around 2 minutes.

If anyone thinks that having a transfer ban sitting on the club for even “just” 4 days, two weeks before the season starts with a thin squad which lost quality players from last season isn’t a bad thing, then I’ve got an igloo in the Sahara just for you…

Can't overstate the disruption it caused, truly. The season is potentially unsalvageable now. If you ignore the picture of our new player wearing our shirt the day after the story broke, of course.

I think that's what it boils down to though - some of us totally believed this is the kind of shady stuff our owners would end up involved in, some didn't.

I'd also say it wasn't a misreading of a situation as clearly something did happen, but it's done now.

That statement alone goes to show the depths our owners have taken the loyalty of the fanbase. We would of written this off as rubbish from the moment it was reported back in the day. But because of all the lies and gas lighting we get from Gino and his mouthpiece Duxbury, we always need to distinguish the woods from the trees. Thankfully on this occasion it seems only a small matter and cleared up now, but it's not to suggest something similar will happen, where the club might face charges from the FA. As a fan who supports their club, we should never have to second guess the actions of the club, but in our case, we need to second, third and fourth guess it.

Sorry should have clarified. Some misread the situation as something very serious, and potentially damaging to short and maybe long-term plans. Some saw it as a storm in a teacup.

I think it's more the over reaction and the joy people took in the news rather than different opinions. Bizarrely when this news broke, there were people genuinely happy so they could have a pop at Pozzo or Duxbury

But nothing in those comments you quoted did that. They were just sick to death of the way we conduct business as a whole, rather than concerned that we might end up in deep trouble.

You've missed the mark here in your desperation to score points.
