This stuff really isn’t that high profile. FIFA publish these outcomes every few months but in the meantime it’s between them and the clubs involved. In essence unless someone involved goes public or tips off a journalist it’s all under the radar, largely because it’s all just administrative stuff.

 

You know how many people hate Pozzo. No idea why your first priority is to attack the fans rather than question the morons in charge.

 

Was pretty obvious from the start there was some truth to it, just a question of degree.

The other explanation would be that a Nigerian football website decided to completely fabricate a story and a letter, going so far as to invent a dispute with an academy, copy the format of FIFA Dispute Resolution reference numbers, Google the name of the head of FIFA's judicial body and fake his signature.

To what end?

 

Yes I know how many people hate Pozzo.
My first priority as a fan is to want what's best for the club/team, rather than want what's bad for the owners with the club/team as necessary collateral damage.

No, read what I post. I haven't laid the blame at any fans door, not once. Somebody at the club has made a mistake although doesn't sounds as though there is much to worry about. What I don't like or understand is to want the club you/they support to fail or delight in things going wrong so you can have a go at the owners again.
If there ever comes a point where I don't want Watford FC to succeed I know it will be the time to stop following them. Pretty certain that will never happen

Not that it appears to be the case in this instance (the Wobby have basically confirmed it and it sounds like they've spoken to the club), but people fake things to that degree on the internet all the time.

I agree it us strange that some people on here delight in jumping on any kind of whiff of a story that might prove the evilness of the regime and also in mocking other people on twitter for their views.

This does appear to be a just a storm in a tea cup. Possibly a slightly dubious way of managing cashflow rather than an admin error but it doesn’t seem to be that big a story .

It's not just some random though, is it? It came from a sports news website in Nigeria. One that's been around for years.

So yes, people fake things on the internet all the time but that's irrelevant to this example.

 

You're not doing business properly unless you fail to pay your invoices, get taken to the industry regulator, have a decision go against you, fail to pay in the allowed window, get banned from doing all business and then eventually cough up. We've all been there!

 

I have no idea how serious this is or isn't, but... Those downplaying it as an admin error, surely upon receiving a letter the club could process the payment immediately and solve the problem before any ban was implemented?

I guess perhaps that may have happened and this letter was leaked to the Nigerian press regardless of it being resolved.

 

Doesn't mean the outlet couldn't have been taken in, though.

 

Sigh. Yes, some random person could've fabricated the whole thing, gone to a Nigerian sports outlet who didn't fact check it properly and posted it.

And of all the tens of thousands of transfers that happen in the world each year, they selected Samuel Kalu to Watford as their great hoax.

Except they didn't. As was obvious all along.

 

You have to feel sorry for this club. As it’s to do with Kalu they’ve probably been looking forward to payment since 1968 when he left their youth team.

 

Not sure the tone is necessary. People thinking it might be a hoax was perfectly reasonable before the Wobby basically confirmed it, especially given the poor language in the letter.

 

His Twitter account seems to just be a mix of defending Pozzo and Duxbury and defending the Tories and Brexit. I'll allow everybody to draw their own conclusions there.
