Having supported Watford since GT's time I have had the pleasure of seeing Watford beat Man U in the cup and 5 -1 at home after beating Spurs by the same score a few days earlier so a win against Man U is not the novelty as it is for some but this could be just what we need to move us to the next level Last season we toiled, kept our shape and went into deep into the second half against Man U, City, Spurs only to run out of steam and cruely concede late winners. Thought the same was going to happen yesterday, so glad it didn't. Future looking very bright
terrible? ok he didnt reach the heights of a lot of his team mates but this was one of his best games of the season, and a solid 7/10 for me. Held the ball up really well, laid it off nicely several times and was generally a handful for their (****e) defence. And given the KO time I wasnt even pissed so type this with confidence! Yes I'd like to see success start ahead of him, but that's because he looks fluffing ace, not because ighalo is "terrible"
Nope. The media acting like it isn't happening is how Wayne is sustaining both his club and international career. To say that it was 'strange' that Rooney misplaced pass after pass after pass when he did it all last season and during the Euros was laughable. I've been saying it for well over a year now, perhaps even longer. Rooney is finished and yesterday was utterly hilarious and yet shocking in equal measure. But it was fan-****ing-tastic that he saved his worst for us.
There was also the bit, that had my daughter in hysterics where the interviewer (aka "repeater of factoids") asked them about Man Utd not playing their best, having an unlucky day etc. (the usual stuff) and 'French' look of bemusement on Capoue's face before Troy set him right... 99% of Scholes and McManamanmanman(do-do-di-do-dooo)McManamanmanman(do-do-di-do-dooo)'s "punditry" didn't once mention us. What gets me really excited about this season when compared to last, is that that although we had a really good first half of last season, it was easy for teams to figure us out because all they really had to do was man mark Ighalo out of the game, as he was the only goal scoring threat we seemed to have. This season it is completely the opposite. I think Ighalo isn't scoring that many because teams are still being sent out to mark him out of the game however now we have 5+ other players on the pitch who can (and are) all scoring goals. This begs the question for opposition teams, do you still mark Ighalo out of the game, leaving players like Capoue and Pereyra to have space? Or do you focus less on Ighalo, perhaps preventing the midfield from getting goal scoring opportunities but then allowing Ighalo to create pockets of space for himself? The answer is definitely not straight forward and I would hate to be any opposition manager facing us in the goal scoring form that we are currently in (and this is still with ighalo perhaps not being up to his full best!)
i swear I watch a different game to most of you I thought that was iggy back to his best. God knows how many times the ball came out of the heavens and he managed to hold the ball up and wait for company before laying it off whilst the Man U defence pulled his shirt/manhandled him How many times did he make a run and truly confuse the defender who had no idea which way he would turn Iggy and Deeney would always start as my front pairing. Success is a phenomenal impact player from the bench.
I was starting to believe the same thing. I thought Iggy had a very good game he was exceptional at holding the ball up and he also had a job in helping out in defensive positions which he did fine.
Watford beating Man Utd? Nothing I haven't seen before. Nothing that special. The only special thing about this current United side is their manager, who I suspect is not far from a point on the spectrum from where smearing his own poo all over his bedroom walls is quite normal. I thought it was absolutely hilarious to see the utter bewilderment of Scholes and McMannanonce in their post match 'analysis'. It just wasn't in their sphere of understanding that Watford might have actually been rather good, rather than Manchester United somehow allowing us to beat them. For the record, I don't buy the excuse that Man Utd were poor. Ibrahima***** was clearly trying, but found Prodl too much for him. Rooney was dog faeces (nothing new in his current role), which I think was as much down to our organisation as his dog****ness, because he was looking to hurt us with incisive passes. We just didn't allow him to succeed with what he wanted to do. If he's got half the 'quality' we keep hearing he's got, then surely we deserve some credit for his useless performance. To have got seven points from that first five fixtures is bloody good going, and you've got to say that the best is still to come from this team. There's still work to do going forward, but it's fantastic after last season to see us going forward with purpose and belief, and also more than one monotonous strategy.
The only defeat we probably deserved was to Arsenal, but even against them we more than matched them in the 2nd half! As for Chelsea, we were robbed :rant:

I had the hangover from hell at the game yesterday so just had to watch it again to relive it in a sober state! Awesome awesome awesome! To be honest, I thought we were more on top that we actually were and they did have a big spell of decent but non-threatening possession in the second half that my bleary yellow tinted eyes obviously glossed over. Goes to show how being at the game gives you a different perspective than watching it. Regarding the post match commentary, to be fair MacManamon was pretty complimentary and honest. He was obviously a bit amazed as we were undeniably the pre-match underdogs, but he said we were worthy of the win, controlled the game and deserved all the credit. Scholes on the other hand. You could see he was obviously gutted. Spitting out "this is Watford". Looked like a bulldog chewing a wasp (and that's slightly insulting to the bulldog) and was very much Watford weren't that great and shouldn't have won, first goal was a foul and we were never in control. What a complete and utter $%^£$$£*. Get over it numbnuts, your precious manu are just not that good at the moment. Also, we were looking so much better than them that I chucked a few quid on us at around the 25 minute mark Kerching!!!!!
The BBC2 highlights were interesting. I was wondering when they were ever going to show Man U doing anything - it was all Watford in the first half, apart from Pagba's shot. I thought they would have focused in the first five minutes, when Watford hardly had a kick (but Man U still didn't make anything from it).
Wasn't Gomes' save from Zlatan really just like the one De Gea made from Deeney's header? 2 very good saves with the ball going away from the danger area. It was about the only thing he (Gomes) had to do really..

The punditry was obviously set up for a United point of view only with Scholes and McManaman. They just picked over United's failings like they were at a funeral. Why didn't they have anyone with a Watford connection or at least a neutral stance to give it some balance? It would be nice to show United's failings, but also enthuse about how well the other team did. There were two teams playing in the game.....not just Manchester United. I think it's boring when they so clearly have very little regard for both sides, and do not have a balance.....it's just interest in the big side only. I love the way Deeney deals with the media. He always firmly puts them in their place. Questions like "you must find it hard to find team spirit with all the changes" and "were you surprised at United's slow start?" clearly trying to get an angle on United, but he turns it around to say Watford deserve credit for stopping them playing and that we have quality players with real men in the side so team spirit is never a problem.
