Going to put our strongest team out tonight and absolutely snot this lot. Capoue, Hughes and Cleverley playing triangles in the middle, Sema back to his pre-Covid form, Sarr getting his mojo back as he's playing with some proper midfielders again, a back four looking solid. Going to believe this for two more hours until Ivic names his team.
His free kick at our place also didn't help matters... When in God's name did we turn our noses up at JWP? I know we had a strong midfield then, but boy that seems mental now...
Right I’m sure the team read this forum before playing this is what I want you to do 1st ignores what Ivic tells you Sarr, Sema, Ngakia , Kiko push forward at speed , if you don’t have the ball on your side head into the box, when you get the ball either cross early or shoot , stop trying to run it into the goal. deeeney , JP run like **** towards the oppositions box , straight through the middle , find space and shoot , if you need to shoot from outside of the box do it , JP deeney is going to be chesting it down to you so stay close sarr and JP when you get tackled stay on your feet, this is Watford in the championship not Liverpool in Europe. garner, quina , Hughes , clevs, Capone , if you are playing tonight , speed is the issue , pass out to the sides quickly and then run forward , if you can go through the middle do it, if you get the ball near their box have a pop - remember 10 shots on target will give you a goal Foster and defence , as normal , but stop twatting around passing the ball from side to side , move forward at pace.foster if you keep playing out from the back eventually you are going to **** it up , just make sure we have at least a three goal cushion before you do it.
You need a system that the players buy into and the fans buy into too, even more so if crowds are going to be coming back. Otherwise all you will get are these increasingly turgid performances. A certain Louis van Gaal at Man Utd springs to mind. Perhaps Ivic has seen the latest Borat film and thinks "turgid" is exciting.
First game back at The Vic for me and looking forward to it. Fans back means football is back for me. Please god not 3 at the back against a side that will probably play one up front.
Hope you have a great time Mr GT. I agree, no need for a back 3, we are a big fish (lol). This could be the start of a magical run of awesome matches, or it could be the demise of Ivic with a 0-1. Got 0-1 written all over it.
Well I swore on Saturday that I was not going to waste my time watching any more games until new year, or until there's a change in the way we play so I feel at least a little surge of excitement watching them rather than me constantly growling and swearing.! Then it's Tuesday, the games on sky, so what the hell..... I'll give it one more game then.... (have said that for each of the last few games tbh, apart from PNE.) So is that huge uplift about to happen.... No I doubt it too....
I pray we get our comeuppance. An absolute thrashing by these league 2 minnows will be just desserts for the way our club is run, the way Ivic sets us up and the half arsed way our disgusting stars perform. The magic of the cup.
Can't wait to see 3 at the back when the sides are announced. After that happens, Gino should sack Ivic instantly. The result and performance are irrelevant if he names 3 centre backs.
4-4-2, two wingers, two lumps upfront. Ivic has finally reached the "try something from the 80s as nothing else is working" formation. I like it.
More absolute gash. Lightweight midfield. Hughes never fit enough to start. Capoue not in the squad. Deeney keeps his place despite two poor performances in matches we failed to score in. A right-footed player at left-back. Positives..good to see Sema playing further forward. He and Sarr could get some decent crosses in, and hope Perica finally shows up for us.
Until we pass the ball around all night and never cross it. Sarr really has to dominate tonight - at home to Rotherham.
Will it be a pressing 442 or a counter attacking? If the former, I think we will win. If the latter, 0-0
Where the **** is Capoue? I despair at Cleverley and Chalobah as a midfield pairing, but at least we've finally dropped Garner. Glad (comparatively) that Percia is starting, but him and Deeney is one slow front pairing. Not sure what the latter has done to deserve another start after the Cardiff game. If Sema and Sarr can do the business on the wings, we may be alright, but that is one uninspiring lineup. 1-0, 0-0 or 0-1? We shall see! COYH!
I don't have Sky, can't get 3CR so will listen to the audio feed. I can't be arsed upgrading to the video feed after the last few terrible offerings. Sod's Law now guarantees a stonking goalfest with Tommy Mooney spontaneously combusting. I assume 3CR digital radio/Freeview are broadcasting that Bedfordshire lot. A shame as I quite enjoy Derek Payne's contributions.
Not as disappointed by the line up as some. Four at the back, Sema and Sarr playing in their strongest positions. Ideal world would have Hughes and João Pedro in place of Chalobah and Deeney. The line up is one thing, more important is the application, positivity, concentration from set pieces and actual game plan. All been severely lacking lately.
