The two situations are not really alike. For a start Hoedt had controlled possession and his back pass was very hard to anticipate, while Andrews was on the run defending a high ball while facing his own goal and was inevitably going to take a touch.

And I’m no big fan of Andrews, so can say that’s not a factor for me either.

These were totally different incidents! Hoedt was monumentally at fault against Coventry. Not under pressure, not running back towards his own goal. Not dealing with a ball flying over his head. He had the ball at his feet and turned and kicked it straight at the goal without checking where the keeper was.

Tonight, Bachmann was halfway towards the Harlequin Centre. Andrews was running back towards goal, with a Swansea forward on his shoulder, and either had to let the ball bounce or head it. He headed it and it went in because Bachmann was rushing out of his own goal. Yes, Andrews bears some responsibility but it's nothing like the Hoedt incident.

The "context" is hard no-look back passes to a Bachmann who wasn't glued to his goal line.

Whether Bachmann was rushing or not, a GK will naturally not always be right on the goal line. Even if he wasn't rushing out he might have struggled to save that.

Plus being put under pressure by opponents applies to Bachmann as well as Andrews.

Fair play for trying to defend the keeper but look at the two clips above. Bachmann was hopeless tonight. Headless chicken stuff. 80% to blame because Andrews has almost no option but to play the ball and Bachmann got absolutely nowhere near it.

Anyway, your original point was about Hoedt and Andrews and the two incidents bear almost no similarity apart from that they were both wearing yellow shirts and they both scored own goals!

Just to reiterate that Bachmann was 100% at fault for the goal.

Again, they were both heavy no-look back passes at goal.

Ideally you should be trying not to play a back-pass between your own sticks, especially if there'll be some weight on it, and if you do then you simply have to look first. To mess up with both is schoolboy defending and so those who criticise Hoedt for that should also give a share of criticism to Andrews.

More enjoyable so far tonight in my opinion. Less tippy tappy and lots more intent to go forward.

I'm going to have to respectfully disagree with you here. Your opening premise was that the incidents were the same and that people should blame Andrews if they blame Hoedt, but that isn't how football works. The two incidents simply aren't the same. In the first incident Hoedt completely compromised the keeper. In the second incident the keeper, by rushing out and getting absolutely nowhere near it, completely compromised Andrews, who was under pressure in a way that Hoedt simply wasn't.

If this is your hill to die on, fair enough, but I think anyone who looks at the two incidents and understands that absolutely everything about football changes when the ball and the players are moving at speed will understand that Andrews, while not blameless, was put in a near impossible position by his goalkeeper.

Anyway, that's my last word on it. Feel free to carry on thinking exactly what you thought 20 minutes ago!

That was a better performance than we've seen for the last 4-5 games. However those were unacceptable. This was merely underwhelming. Grasping at straws you can say it may be the syart of a turnaround.

Swansea were dreadful and fortunate to get a draw with the easiest goal they will have all season

    You don't play a heavy no-look back-pass in-between the sticks.

    It's not that complicated.

I don't know how difficult it is for some here to rightfully criticise a no-look heavy back-pass in-between the sticks. It's schoolboy defending, irrespective of what the GK did or didn't do.

Another home game without a win .

Porteous wasn’t horrific which was a nice change , Chak can run but can’t pass, Dennis doesn’t pass

Good point against a team who will be there or thereabouts come the end of the season. Swansea will have been amongst many people's favourites for top 6 at the start of the season.

Sure our fans think we should beat everyone but that's a but entitled. We've no divine right to expect to beat anyone.

    Good result.

Frustrating that, we were the better team (even when Swansea were on top I'd hardly say they cut us open at will, and we ), but the end product in the second half was laughably bad. People complain about Dennis being greedy, but why not shoot when you're only going to muck up a basic 5 yard pass?

Well, most concerning thing about that is they all actually tried their best! The second-half performance tells me they don’t want the manager sacked but we’re simply not good enough to win when we want, another day that’s 1-0 but luck went against us.

Just keep Val and let the season fade away, we’re not going down.

"Draw - Not really of much use to anyone, but partly stops the rot at Home"

We started the game with a lot more intensity than some recent games which resulted in a mildly improved initial start, but our more hurried, direct approach came at a cost of no composure and some panicky play - including the own-goal (which was panicky by both Andrews and Bachmann). Let's be honest here, Andrews had a stinker all game and was also a bit lucky not to get sent off again. I'd still rather he started vs Coventry mind.

Asprilla seems better at scoring worldies than he does finishing from 8 yards out. Sema getting injured was a blow. I forgot Dennis was playing at times though he had a couple of decent moments. Livermore has been off the pace three games in a row now and his starting place must be in question.

I've been critical of Chak a fair bit this season but he was brilliant when he came on today. He and Kone (who looked livelier than in his last couple of games) made all the difference to our improvement as the game went on.

Chak and Kone must start the next match one way or another, then partner them in midfield with whoever seems the sharpest out of Livermore, Kayembe or TDB.

We were a bit loose in our marking from set-pieces again, which was a big concern, but at least for once it was us who managed to scrape a goal from one.

A draw was probably a fair result overall, perhaps if anything we edged it on chances. Again, the draw is not ideal but maybe the way we finished the game will lift our confidence levels a bit for our next one?

Dull as dish water for most of the game as two poor sides battled it out so in the end a draw was fair. At least we halted our losing run but we still cannot seem to play well or win at home these days. Their goal was comedy gold, and typical of the way we are defending this season. Bachmann in no mans land and an empty goal to slot home the opener. Our goal came from a set piece (shock horror), but apart from that every other one was dreadful and as laboured to the end of the game despite having a pretty bright 15mins or so just after the goal. Bayo was poor tonight but in truth we didn't really get forward and Swansea were the better side overall and probably peed off they didn't win the game.

Credit to Bachmann for a few good saves throughout the game but their goal was on him being out of position and not reading the game correctly. Crowd was possibly our lowest attendance all season and it seems any protests might of been with the feet instead of banners and flags. However that didn't stop the march of the orange coats towards full time to prevent any last minute protests. Poor game, right result and VI gets to see the Coventry game out.

Not a lot more happened, but I guess it was marginally better than the previous games in terms of effort and attitude. Still have great trouble getting into the final third though and that has been a problem throughout the season. Take the point and move on, five more required now for that magical 50pts.

I'm going to break my vow that I'd said my last on this because you keep saying it was a pass. You do know it was a header, right? I mean, It was a high ball over the top, with a Swansea player right on him, and he headed it and he had his eyes on the ball, which was in the air. It wasn't a 'no-look' pass!
