I thought it looked like a hamstring tbh, it happened while running with no opposition contact and he was holding the back of his leg.
Looked like a hamstring injury for Sarr on the TV. Very concerning, especially given he was absolutely tearing them apart today. Great introduction for Pussetto: come on, make goaline clearance to earn your team a point. Hopefully he'll be as lucky of a charm for us as our previous Iggy was. Probably a fair result overall. We should have scored, so should they. Lots to be pleased about, again. My main irritation with the penalty miss isn't the miss, but the fact I'm almost certain GD's shot was going in but for the handball.
Both Payne and the commentator on the rivulet I was watching suggested he took a knock whilst defending. I didn't see it myself as my visuals were buffering but I was hoping it was a dead leg or a knock.
According to the Internet, Kane has missed 7 out of 44 (16%). Deeney 6 out of 34 (18%). I know you probably love Harry but someone else might have been a better comparison. Like Le Tissier.
Good point - might've won it, might've lost it. Biggest moment in the game is the Sarr injury - hopefully it's just Villa he misses and then there is a big break before Everton. Special mention for Masina and Chalobah. Both players I thought were done 2 months ago, had blinders for the second game in a row. Delighted for them.
That clearly won’t be good if correct. Fingers crossed it’s just a knock. Did he go straight down the tunnel?
Deulofeu made Aurier his bitch. Sensational interception by Capoue at the end. Sarr a huge loss. Two points dropped.
Went into this game not wanting to lose - as keeping our unbeaten run and overall momentum going was important. Before I get into things - can I just say a massive thank you to all the fans who also turned up today - the 72nd minute rouse was almost worth Deeney's missed kick. Great support for GT and thank you from me personally for the moment - it was great. As for the game itself, Spurs were by far the better side in the opening moments, but credit to us we defended deep and pressed them back well. They hardly troubled us and I thought we weathered the storm pretty decently. After that we started to come forward more and it was quite funny seeing Sarr scare the daylight's out of their left back. Delafoo and Sarr were almost certainly the outputs and I thought apart from a truly awful free kick, Chalobah played well along side Capoue. The part when the referee went off to change his technology was pretty funny, however I do not thing the "**** VAR" song was warranted. We ended the first half the stronger side but it fell a bit flat towards the end of the half with both sides cancelling the other out. A word on Capoue's "red card challenge". Yes, his foot was a bit high and he did lunge in a bit on the man, and had it gone to VAR he probably would of been sent off. So many Spurs fans on the way out moaning we should have had ten men and they were superior blah blah. Second half we stated really well totally on the front foot and it seemed Pearson's HT talk was a good one. We looked more dangerous with Delafoo whipping in low balls but I have to say Spurs defended man to man really well. Credit where credit is due, they are a good side even without Kane, and Son was always a threat. Dele Ali was beyond awful for them, he hardly ever looked liked getting into a scoring position. Now, the penalty. I am going to be a bit harsh on Deeney here. Why did he go for the side? He usually always waits and then smashes it down the middle. He changed his tactic today and overall it was a pretty easy save. I think that knocked our confidence a little as after that we didn't really create anything for the next ten minutes and Spurs came forward more. Again, Dawson played well and we managed to keep them out, before we sort of went for it for the last ten minutes. When Sarr went down, you could almost hear a pin drop around where I was sat. I hope to god it isn't long term. He went off un aided by medics so I hope it isn't as bad as a hamstring. Pussetto looked a bit cagey when he came on, but credit to him it's his first appearance and he hardly got time to show us his ability. He did prevent us from losing mind, great goal line clearance at the death. In conclusion, a draw was fair. Spurs were just as tough as I imagined they would be despite their results of late. They pushed us all the way unlike manure, and almost could of won it. We could of won had Deeney scored our best chance, but then again that goal line clearance could of also gone in after that and it still would of been a draw. Spurs are no mugs, they play good football and despite being a little disappointed when the final whistle went to not keep our winning run going, losing Sarr was a massive blow, but we didn't lose. So a point gained in our mission to stay up. We also managed to not lose to Spurs home and away. All in all, good game, two decent sides who went for it but a bit lacking going forward. Villa in a few days, so not long to lull on this one. A win there, and this point would look a bit better than it does right now. Let's hope teams around us lose or draw to keep us above.
I don’t give a toss about Harry Kane, but if you watch his penalties, especially for England, most go in the top corner and are unsaveable. Troy never puts them in the corners, he’s basically playing Rock Paper Scissors with the keepers because once they guess right, or wait they will be saved.
Missed opportunity. Deeney scores the pen then they panic and we push on. As it was they gained confidence from that miss and are seen to deserve a draw when really they didn't.
Disagree. After the penalty we had sustained pressure. Ok they had the chance which Pussetto cleared, but generally they didn't dominate after the penalty and we looked to push back and score.
Probably a fair result, we missed a penalty they had a shot that would probably have been given as a goal without goal line technology. Every point crucial.
Good point **** pen from Deeney but he’s scored them when they mattered more in the past. One of those things Lovely bit of luck with the clearance at the end, brilliant reactions from Pusetto as well, talk about an impact sub! We completed phase 1 of getting out of the relegation zone last week, phase 2 of staying out of it started today and the point we got is a good step towards that
Probably fair. They dominated early on but we got into game with Sarr getting on the ball more. Better side 2nd half - shame Deeney missed the pen but then newbie saved us at the end. Hopefully back this up at Villa.
Like any penalty then? If the keeper guesses right, he usually saves them. And again, Kane's missed more penalties than Deeney so I won't bother watching them.
Good job we brought in Pussetto if Sarr is going to be out. Fortunately there's a decent gap between Villa and our next prem game, so hopefully he won't miss too many important matches.
It was when he planted his foot trying to get back and win the ball. It looked like an awkward movement.
Pearson on BT sport about the goal line clearance. "It was millimetres? Great! Lovely!" Gets easier to love him week after week. He also said he was proud of the players today and told them he was looking for a performance and he got that.
Incorrect. If you’ve got the ability to put the ball in the corners you take the keeper completely out of the equation. It doesn’t matter if the keeper guesses correctly if it’s far enough in the corner, some penalties are unsaveable. Deeney can’t put the ball into the corner so inevitably will always be caught out sooner or later. If keepers did their homework on him they’d just not dive early and they’d save most of them. The point you make about Kane missing more is ridiculous, your own stats show he has missed one more, but has taken and scored a lot more and has a better percentage.
Sarr got a kick on the ankle just after he won the ball back. Looked like hamstring but I'm hoping it's just a knock.
2% more. I admire you doubling down on this point but very few players go through their careers with an almost untouchable penalty record. Your hero Harry Kane isn't one of them. Neither is Deeney. The vast majority of players miss penalties.
I'll weigh in here and say that if Deeney takes another 10 penalties and scores 9 of them, I'd consider that a very decent record.
