You what? We have kids for a quid plenty enough and a disabled ticket is 15 quid plus a free carer, can't get better than that really! Only issue we have currently is that there is only around 50 spaces for wheelchairs. As Moog puts it, we have facilities for blind people through the 'soccer sight' facility and you can even bring your guide dog to the game! I would hope a new East stand would provide better disabled access though, at least the option of watching the game from a higher position, as most space at at the front of the Rookery and I am not sure how accessible the boxes are for wheelchairs.
I would hope that at some point there will be a standing area included to enhance the atmosphere and offer cheaper tickets. As we've often discussed on the forum it's been a sucess in Germany.
Dortmund have it right there with the standing. I have been about 5 times in the last couple of years, absolutely fantastic stadium and atmosphere. Their MD reckons they loose 4-5 million Euros a year due to it as they could charge so much more for seats but the atmosphere it helps creates is worth more. In fact, we could learn so much more from the German league, no club can be owned by a private individual/group and a season ticket in the standing kop is less than 200, and you get 3 Champions League Games for that (which are then seats!). I just can't see ou money orientated clubs going for something like though unfortunately, even with the big TV money.
I think it would be difficult to offer cheaper tickets for women however as that is clear (albeit positive) gender discrimination. Disabled seating has to be provided by law and is offered at a cheaper price and with a free ticket for a carer (apologies if this next bit is patronising/ignorant) due to the difficulties an average disabled person may encounter in finding a well paid job compared to that of an 'abled' body equivalent. The lack of disposable income argument applies to kids, young adults, students and pensioners hence their reduced prices also. Women however in this day and age certainly shouldn't encounter the same problems hence women getting cheaper tickets is unfair discrimination to men. However I'm surprised to hear that they implement this system with Udinese who I assume would have to adhere to similar discrimination law which puts all of what I've said thus far down the drain.
Debatable - I'd suggest it's negative discrimination towards men as much as it's positive discrimination towards women. You wouldn't making black people pay more than white people was positive discrimiation towards white people!
You can bet your bottom dollar that all this extra money coming in next season will end up in players and parasites pockets. As opposed to reducing ticket prices. German football is streets ahead of the curve although it still has problems with extremists and a level of hooliganism..
Are you playing Napoli tomorrow ? Some of the weather in northern Italy is terrible. Watching Sampdoria playing in heavy rain against Chievo and then Atalanta against Roma in a snowstorm.
Udinese v Napoli is on ESPN from 18:00 today - whilst Napoli are trying for the title, Udinese have only lost once at home this season I believe so it should be a pretty close game. I'll say 1-1, though it could go either way.
Very difficult match. Napoli, after elimination from EL and 2 consecutive draws in the tournment is eager for 3 points to maintain short distance from Juventus. Udinese after just 3 points in last 3 matches is needing a victory to stay close to the group fighting for Europe qualifications. A draw would be unsatisfying for both.
Even a draw would mean Udinese would stay within 3 points of Roma. With the Goal Difference so similar, that would mean even one weekend of matches could let us move above Roma in the table. Saying that, Udinese's away form has been terrible so it's really important to try and get as many points at home as possible. Looking forward to watching this match though!
It is all correct but in Italy more important than the goal difference, at the end of the season are the results of the matches of the 2 teams involved in case of a final ranking with same points anyway for weather there will be no problem. Udine is thre most rainy city of italy but one of the less snowy
0-0 at halftime. Napoli are the better side and constantly pressing forwards. Padelli made an impressive save from Hamsik. Udinese are looking to hit on the counter. Muriel has shown some neat touches but is still brainless and di Natale blasted over on the angle when our brethren were on the break. Walter Mazzari as usual is performing his touchline antics routine.
Yeah this is, bar the Balotelli love in the other week, the first time I've been able to watch a full Udinese game. As you say, Muriel has looked lively but toothless. Probably not the best representation of what they are capable of but we shall see what they can bring out in the second half.
Wow. That should have been done much better. Personally I think Di Natale should have left it, or at least passed to to whoever it was at the top of the D once he had gotten control of it. Shame.
0-0 at full time. Extremely scrappy second half. Napoli unable to mount any sustained pressure. Armero dived for a penalty and was booked for simulation. Precious little else created by either side. Muriel needs his head examined. Very selfish at times. Insigne was definitely the outstanding player on the pitch. Napoli consolidate second spot but look unable to catch Mother Corruption while our friends in Udine look quite safe in midtable and still in with a shout of a EL place.
Not a greatly enjoyable match. Udinese staying covered, Napoli unable to break through. A good point after all. Insigne was quite impressing. Hamsik excellent. Di Natale and Cavani not greatly inspired. Muriel has great feet but must really improve A LOT in concentration, tactical sense and toughness to become the great player he might become.
Both in pre-match analysis and in post-match interview to Guidolin there was talk about Vydra. Guidolin said he would have liked to have him at Udine one more year, but what happened was for the best and he was sure the lad would have been very good in Championship. Also he praised Muriel for the fact he's improving in applying not only as striker but in defensive phase too. And he, quite rightly, pointed out that in Udinese's midfield today there were 3 players born in '91 and one born in '90!
Nice win even if (for me) not a good match by Muriel. We could win more than just 1-0 anyway. Allan as always did played a good match and Hertaux is clearly the revelation of this year. Pescara doesn't seem a team good enough to play in serie A, honestly. Last consideration, finally Di natale scored his 150° goal with Udinese
Congratulations to Udinese. Three points are three points. So one win, one draw and one defeat for the trinity this weekend. That win triple bet has GOT to come up some time soon.
Could have been a more convincing win, against Pescara lowest in table, but I can't complain. As Guidolin said in interview: - we're now safe (40 points) at 11 matches from end - now we can watch up and see what we can do - the last 2 seasons we've been punching quite beyond our weight, we cannot realistically expect Europe qualification each year - we play with a very, very young team (Silva, Allan, Badu, Merkel, Pereyra and Muriel, all playing today, are all 21-22 YO). Edit P.S.: forgot to mention, but today the Captain, Totò Di Natale, reached quite a nice achievement, that seemed almost to "block" him in last 3-4 matches when he didn't score because he seemed somewhat too eager and nervous. Cheers to the Captain for his 150th goal in serie A with Udinese shirt!!! (in 9 seasons!):mengoal:
Well done Udinese! On a totally different subject (and apologies for going off topic) why does the team name Udinese Calcio have the 'se' on the end of Udine? Why not just Udine Calcio?
It's the adjective related to Udine. Just like London-londoner, or Paris-parisienne in French. It's uncommon but there are some other teams whose name is the adjective related to the city instead of the name of the city.
Cremonese used to be a top flight club some time ago. Pity Napoli couldn't beat Mrs.Corruption on Friday. Looks like they have bagged the scudetto for this season.....
If someone has 30 minutes free to spend, here is a collection of all the 150 scores of Di Natale in italian championship. Some of them really deserve to be watched. The clip has been made for Udinese Channel to celebrate the Di Natale's 150th score in championship made last sunday in Pescara. Here ar not included the european and italian cup ones: http://udinesecalcio.portals.twww.tv/video/7aedbecd892010c3e3548a19c871e0d1.html
Mama v Roma tomorrow mum play Roma at home - 7.45pm uk on espn If any of the Udinese family would like to suggest a bet on the match - i will be happy to fund it. £10 and any winnings goes into a Udi/granada betting pool. I see roma have good recent form and there are goals in their games. mama i see has tightened her legs and only one match in her last six matches has had more than one goal. 3 points behind roma a win would be an excelelent result. Over the past five seasons, the record between Udinese and Roma is perfectly even: four wins apiece and a draw. Udinese have won three of their last four games against Roma at the Friuli, previously the guests had won this fixture six times out of nine. Udinese have shared only one draw in their last nine league games, winning five in the process. Roma have won their last three games, after they had failed to win for six consecutive rounds in the league (2D 4L). Roma have kept only one clean sheet in their last 13 away games in Serie A (excl. the 3-0 awarded against Cagliari). Francesco Totti has also netted 13 against Udinese, three of which came in his last three appearances. Overall, these two sides have shared the points only once in their last 15 league meetings (1-1 in March 2009). Roma lost their last game played at Udinese's ground by a scoreline of 0-2 - prior to that, the Giallorossi had scored in 14 games in a row at the Friuli. Udinese have scored only four goals in their last seven games, after they had netted 14 in the previous six match-days. Roma won their last away game, before that they had taken only one point from their previous five league games on the road. Antonio Di Natale has already scored 13 goals against Roma, more than against any other Serie A opponent, including six in his last six appearances against the Giallorossi. .
Ouch, difficult. I'm no good with bets, usually things go the other way that what I said. The hope of course is for a victory for Udinese. Probably a difficult one, Roma won 3 on 3 under the new manager, but then I hope they must stop. Don't see a lot of goals, with Zeman no more at Roma's helm and Udinese's defence usually decently good. Yet Roma has a good attack. Hoping in 2-1 for Udinese, with at least one for Di Natale.
