Indeed. Possibly the bestist footy club owners of all time. Possibly.

A few people not getting the pozzo model at all!!

You dont sell a player for £10m if it cost you £130m!

This is an interesting story. The first thing is that I believe it is entirely true that Premier clubs are looking at Troy. I also believe that there are seven days in a week. Sky Sports are simply stating a bleed'n obvious fact. All top championship strikers will be looked at by the elite clubs. Nothing new there. The Pozzos have secured Troy on a long term deal, so there is no pressure to sell. He will still be worth big bucks next summer, so no loss in value. They will be guided by Zola on his importance to the team. It would be astonishing, in my view, if they accepted an offer, however high. The only thing that could put a spanner in the works is if he throws a strop and goes on strike or puts in a transfer request. I would not anticipate that, but you never know in football. All in all, I would be confident he will stay. There were those who questioned, this time last year, whether he should be retained. We should be grateful that he was. He could be a hugely important factor in the future success of this club.

So your suggesting that our entire season relies on Troy Deeney to get promotion...

Not sure your getting the Pozzo Model to be honest.

Would this story have come out had deeney not scored at the weekend? I highly doubt it. It's only because he's picked up where he left off last season.

No i am afraid it is you that does not get the model

Obviously they want the premier windfall - but will i am sure stick to their plan of selling when the maximum price is reached - they would not screw up our system in late Jan if a bid came in on 31st and we could not replace - but they have a proven system - ask Sherlock how he felt when the some of the guys that won them a champions league place qualifying round place got sold!

However don't get in a lather - lets say the maximum value for Deeney is thought to be somewhere in the range 7.5 - 10.0m
Who could or would pay that - the Pozzos won't take £4m down and the rest if they stay up or if the players grandmother lays an egg or some other ridiculous clause - they will say (like they did to Barca or Juve) show me money - so that rules out Palace / Fulham / Cardiff / Hull and the like. West Ham need a Vydra not a Deeney as they have Carroll / Villa similarly have Benteke - Norwich have bought about 5 strikers already and as he isn't french so Newcastle is out . So realistically - Stoke if they sell Walters and Crouch as is possible / Southampton because Lambert is about 104 Sunderland and Everton are about it - if you think that top 6 clubs probably fish in a different pond.

Be realistic - if one of them puts the cash down the Pozzo view will be - we can replace him and still get the 100m - I am not sure because as people have said he is an on and off field talisman and it would not just be his goals we would miss - but they won't be bluffed in a poker game - I wish that Spurs were interested - the Pozzos would eat slimy Levy for breakfast!

If a club offers around or over £7.5 mill I think he is off personally. Want him to stay but if the money is good he will be off.

I'm going out on a limb here and say he will only go if it is a ridiculous amount above what the Pozzo's value him at. I'm not saying that Deeney is the key to a £120m windfall promotion, but he is worth far more to Watford than what he would be sold at. Losing Deeney means you lose a character that brings the squad together, whilst a very good player he offers far much more.

I don't want to see him go & he has even written off his own rumours in past with regards to moves. Nothing suggests that he would want to leave. The "Pozzo model" does suggest that players will go when the price is right but I see Troy being an asset they would like to keep for a long time.

If we get a decent offer he ll be off. That's life and altho we may think we are a top 10 premier club that warrants a 40k all seater stadium, At the moment we are sadly not and until we start selling out our 3 sides we wont b get a forth. If Deeney went we have FF, fab, acuna, uche and mensah, and that doesnt take into account the strikers elsewhere within the 'model'
Will we survive and be a threat without Deeney.. well we should be and if it takes another year to get to the prem then at least the pozzos will have 8-10m in the pocket along with the 1.5 from Peterboring ... They will be assessing the venture. . Is it working. .. 12m says it is.

£4M has been offered but WFC are holding out for £5M.

Can't say I will be happy to see Troy go if our demands are met BUT, and as has been mentioned before, he is likely to be replaced with better.

Usually programming the substitutions is the key. That's why at Udinese we fans usually can expect already which players will go, when it seems the substitute is ready.
It was so for Benatia, with Herteaux playing several matches last year and obviously preparing to be his heir.
Benatia went to Rome (for 10M€ plus 50% of the young Verre still playing there and 50% of the very promising Nico Lopez playing with us)
It was "planned" for the possible sellings of Basta and Danilo, with Naldo and Belkalem as possible subs for Danilo and Widmer and Faraoni for Basta.
But no really serious offers came, so they stay with us, and the now "surplus" Faraoni and Belkalem ... well, you know. ;)
Muriel ... he's quite in the rumours as possible target for several quite big teams. But he's key for our season and it appears that there was some talk with the player and his agent and they understand now the best thing for the lad is a great next season with us followed hopefully by a good World Cup with Columbia and THEN he'll be able to choose the best among quite likely dozens of great offers (for him and for Udinese). That's why Pozzo has adamantly said several times that Muriel is NOT ON SALE this year.
Same was for Di Natale in the past, he obviously received offers but he stayed.

If (not always well with this) the player and his agent are cooperative, it's not only "the player will be sold only at the right price" but also "and only at the right moment, for him and for the team".

We are aware of the rewards around promotion but if it can be achieved by getting very good prices for players that can be replaced then they ll go. I want Deeney to stay him and FF are the heart of the team but if the right price comes in, i think he ll go.
Would that rangie bloke do a job. Probably. And if he's surpass over there surly its a no brainer they ll take a decent price

In Pozzotive news... even if he goes, how good is it that we wont lose him for a paltry 3 and a half million like we would have in the past?

Because the Pozzos have sense, if they do sell Deeney in the transfer window then they will certainly have already lined up a replacement for him who is as good as Deeney or better.

Can't see any jolly foreigner being able to step into his boots. He knows this level and can cope with it physically. Holt could have been a replacement but he's gone elsewhere. I assume the club would be looking abroad for a replacement and the likes of levendowski or ibrahimovic could replace him. Don't think that going to happen.

Unless the Pozzos know of some 'british type' striker on the radar Selling him would not be good business at present

Doyle was a good solid player in his day, but has struggled badly in the last number of seasons. Would not be anywhere near Deeney's standard at this stage.

I would be very disappointed if we were to let him go for less than £9M+ after all look what Palace paid for that donkey from Peterbro; £8.5m wasn't it?

Surely Deeney has to be worth more than him?

  25. Ikpeazu is his replacment... in about 2 years time

Deeney can then finish his career at Birmingham for £5M, everyone's a winner

£2m would have been top, top value for Deeney. I think we'd have been looking at 1.25m under Baz.

£4m +clauses - anything linked to staying up is money down the drain / anything to do with performances might happen as he will be ok for championship next year and should prosper in league 1 after that. Anything linked to international recognition was just daft. I suspect they will end up with £5m
