Transfer Deadline Day.............

I think there would be a fee involved in most of the transfers that were "new" this year (Faraoni, Angella, Fabbrini + others) Even despite sharing owners, it comes from Watford as a company and does show on our accounts even though the money stays within the Pozzo clubs. I think the Pozzo will then inject a similar amount into Watford under stadium redevelopment/player investment to balance the books. It will probably be minimal though as the fees initially wouldn't have been that much.

Basically, probably the greatest transfer window for Watford FC ever. A handful of brilliant players who are great to watch and the fact that when the time does come to sell them, we benefit from the sales which secures our future/makes us a sustainable club.

Woods is still at the club right? As a free agent we can sign him at any time.

A happy thought indeed, but I just cannot see it. I was very interested to see how they started. I saw QPR as being either run-away leaders or a complete car crash that would totally implode. I was of course hoping for the latter, but the way they've started and the players they signed in the window lead me to believe they will now be in the top two all season.

Can I just point something out to all the people who are saying that QPR have all but won the title.

The bookies still have QPR at 3/1 to win the title.

In other words the bookies believe that QPR are 3 times more likely to not win the title than to win it.

Its a long season in a crazy division, so much can happen. The bookies know that, so should we.

Just chill with the doom and gloom and enjoy the ride.

They did. Which is a nice touch as he looked like he was a key player for them. Wigan lost McCarthy too, I think they will struggle a bit this year. They've not had the best start and European involvement will just stretch them.

On the subject of QPR, I don't think there is too much to worry about. You can have the best squad of players on paper but the issue is them playing as a team.

I'll be honest Chris, I couldn't see any confirmation of a transfer. Checked the palace and forest websites and nothing mentioned.

I went to bed thinking it was a done deal. Obviously it wasn't. Seems a bit up in the air as everything was agreed. I hope they did lose him.

Been reported in the last hour that Palace are still waiting to see if the move went through in time - so it looks like the deal was struck and agreed.

  10. QPR aren't as technical as we are, but then again neither were Cardiff.

They are solid, and in the games I've seen on TV are happy to mix it and hoof when its time to hoof, play when its time to play, and fight when its time to fight.

Yes we're more skilful, more technical, we play more attractive football and if I were a neutral I'd rather watch us than them, but until we learn the art of English football resilience then for me QPR edge it.

That said, I see an awful lot of potential in our side to be not only better than QPR but to be good enough to make a decent fist of it living as a mid table Prem team. Just needs a bit of time.

Fear not - the day of judgement will be Easter Monday when we win at the Loft to take the title. Andy Johnson will be denied two clear pens, our winner will be offside and, in the process, we will push Rangers out of the play-off spots.

I'd laugh if none of Palace's 16 transfers were actually confirmed - looking possible at this rate ;-p

I am delighted with the final day of the transfer window for WFC. Nobody in (didn't really need anyone in my opinion) and nobody out (kept what we have). Our squad has had several weeks together and enough matches to learn how each other plays. As we start to shape up and establish our own pattern, some of our promotion rivals enter the busy September/ October period with 3, 4 or more disruptive changes to their squads.

Wigan got Powell on loan which will help the McCarthy void

Confirmed now Guedioura to Palace, perhaps Forest will go after a Chalobah loan to fill the gap.

Forest have lost their player IMO. Very good midfielder who really sured up their defence.

Just like last year, you mean?

  27. All Nani has to think about all year is creating a first team, reserve, and youth squad. We got all our business done early doors. Shows the benefit of a European management structure.

Yes, exactly like last year - as we were subject to an embargo then too while the league ratified the takeover and investigated Bassini's shenanigans.

Forest losing him is good news for us, hopefully we can capture chalobah on loan. I can see that happening too, we must be in pole position with zola's relationship with Chelsea and after how successful he was here last season.

I thought Guedioura was the star man in Watford vs Forest match, was always on Fab's case and strongly made an impact to assist the back line. I think they will miss that kind of performance if it was regular and the Forest back line may be shipping in a few more goals now as they have not brought in anyone else.
Chalobah is still a young lad, cant see he would be too happy about moving away from London area but maybe that could be something he would want. Still the Zola has a great relationship with Chelsea and as you say Chalobah has a great relationship already with the club, if he was offered another chance I think he would take it.

BAE is a defensive liability. Kranjcar can be hustled out of games. Shame they got Carroll. Candleface is trying to recreate Tottenham Mark 2. It is all he knows. Can't wait for it to all go **** up. They have been distinctly average so far as befits a club managed by the chancer.

Wigan and Nottingham Forest lost key players although the former have recruited Powell. No outstanding signings although QPR have probably done themselves some favours. Other than much as it was. We will go into the loans market in all likelihood and no doubt get all the same tiresome jibes once again.

We still need a backup striker and defensive midfield beast.

It looks like it was a good transfer deadline day for us we never lost any of our players and some of the teams that are likely to challenge us for promotion lost important players and as Smudge mentioned above QPhaha didn't strengthen as much as was rumoured. I take it Blackpool kept Tom Ince as I haven't seen or heard anything about him really thought a premiership club would've snapped him up.
