They did. I had to wait until after it finished to watch it on IPlayer. Plenty of good talking points.
Cthulhu said all sporting events will be cancelled. And will not take place until after the funeral at Westminster.
Not a sour tone, more a weary cynical one. Not surprising after all that's happened in the country since 2016.
Probably Jumbo. All sporting bodies will do the right thing in accordance with protocol. Not sure about European competitions. I hope the British Museum is open this weekend. Me and the missus want to see the Feminine Power through the Ages before it closes shortly.
On the positive side Louza should be fully recovered. Edit: he's obviously going to get injured playing for Morocco isn't he?
Not sour. Quite fond of the Queen and thought she handled her role very well. What I object to (if it happens) is 10 days of forced mourning for the passing of someone who was 96 and the utter idiot presenters parading over BBC and Sky at the moment lapping up every moment as they broadcast their grief, and know they get to do so for the next week. I mean seriously - life goes on. We all still have to go to work. Why on earth cancel sporting events?
A seemingly quite nice and dignified old lady born into a life of unbelievable privilege has passed away. Can feel sad for her family and in some sense for the changing times it represents. But the forelock tugging deification that the Beeb and others are doing is frankly a bit weird. Would much prefer more of the little stories about encounters she's had with people where she came across as a good egg than these sweeping statements about how she was a better person than all us mere mortals.
I expect the Queen would agree with those sentiments too. She was quite down to earth despite the position she was born into. Just remember what might have happened had Queen Maggie been around.
I also said this. 300 years ago we would've burned Truss as a witch but nowadays, she'll walk free. It's PC gone mad.
Think it's just sunk in for Clive Myrie. Huw Edwards really struggled when he made the first announcement. You can moan about the coverage but it can't be easy for the presenters. It's the day they have prepared for forever but never wanted to come. I'd imagine they have all met the Queen on a personal level as well.
I once saw her at the races. I was about 30 feet below the royal box. I looked round and we locked eyes for a second. She made a sexy face and then the next race got underway and the moment passed. I still like to think she remembered me to the end.
Give me a break ffs. She was 96. I met my grandma on a personal level as well but when she died in her late 80s I kind of accepted that is just nature. I'm not having anything other than these media bell3nds are just milking the limelight.
Can't have been easy for a venerable sagacious person such as the Queen to have to deal with both Johnson and Truss in the space of two days. Not only an awful PM in the making, Maggie Thatcher mark two but a Queen killer as well.
Because it’s so closely followed the Jubilee, there is a feeling of going through the motions. I’m largely disinterested in the monarchy, but for a few minutes during the Jubilee I took it in and yes, what a life, has met everyone, been everywhere occasionally cracked a joke, but was not a natural stand up etc. I got it. Now it’s all being repeated and it looks an awful lot of effort to find anything new to say. As a consequence, there is a lot of nonsense being spouted. It really doesn’t need us to shut down for two weeks to be sufficiently respectful.
