Phew. I know you’ve acknowledged the joke but I apologise for being so flippant. Now probably isn’t the time for ******* jokes.
https://www.theguardian.com/uk-news...eral-what-we-can-expect-over-the-next-10-days Disappointingly, no mention of Brendan Rodgers.
10 days of the broadcasters filling the airways with the purest of absolute guff. People you've never heard of wheeled out to offer their sagacity and to endlessly speculate. Out of the deepest respect the Shopping Channels have gone off-air.
I doubt it. That’s the party line stock statement. It’s been honed and fine tuned by civil servants for years, probably with the Queen’s personal involvement. Boris meanwhile has just released a long, flowery statement that he would never have been able to give in Number 10. Fantastic political opportunism, creating an immediate match up between him and Truss.
Sad, if not entirely unexpected, moment. I’m sad for Britain. However much our political and economic has waned, having such a powerful source of soft power was so useful, as was the sense of calm and stability brought by her continuity. RIP
No. They obviously knew she was close to the end and it was a virtuoso performance of vamping until the news came through.
Very sad news. I always enjoyed waving to her at Royal Ascot, when everyone else was on the phone filming her instead. You could tell that she appreciated the show of respect. Will miss that radiant smile. One of the few people in a position of power that hasn't been a national embarrassment. King Charles III. At times I thought it would never happen. Hopefully he has a less eventful time than the other two monarchs with his name.
It is probably the same statement Boris would have made, everything has been planned for this for the last 60 years including the PMs statement.
She's been a great head of state it has to be said. Did her duty and talked some sense into some idiot politicians. It's sad for her family too. But that's true for all families that lose someone. And the hyperbole train has already started. The rock on which Britain was made. Really ? Not all the workers toiling, the scientists researching, all the creative types that have made Britain what it is this century and the last. And thousands gathering outside Buckingham Palace like mindless zombies. You can pay your respects when she's lying in state. It's not an era either. It's a few decades. People need to get a grip. Life goes on. As it always has. I expect we will hear God Save The King at the Last Night of the Proms and World Cup. What happens to the coinage and notes. When will these be changed along with stamps ?
We already had two. Don't push it..... Probably one for the state funeral. I may pop down to take some photographs just for the historical record.
I'm disappointed by the sour tone of many of the posters on here. She was probably a terrible mother but she was a great monarch and one of the few reasons the UK still gets some respect across the world. In a sense it's a life of privilege, but I wouldn't want it. For us subjects it's a lottery - think of Andrew or Harry being the heir - but I'd rather rely on the luck of the draw than be represented by a head of state who actually wanted that job.
She's not that bad a mother. She's in an unenviable position. As head of state at such a young age. Apart from one the others have turned out alright for the most part.
As ghoulish as it may be to say it, most of us will not have lived through this before - but will likely have to go through it twice in fairly quick succession given Charles' age upon getting the throne.
Are you going? I would of like to of gone but Mrs Keighley is away and I have to look after Monty Dog.
