To be fair there was an injury and Preston were trying everything to slow the game down. They even give the 4th official the wrong number at one point for a substitution which took a couple of minutes to resolve.

 

You love to see it!

 

That's very much a bonus for us, I was expecting both Bournemouth and Rotherham to win tonight, especially after we hammered a depleted Preston side at the weekend. This ******* division man, it never seems to follow the script!

 

Bournemouth proving they are a level below us tonight. They don’t concern me. Norwich and Brentford are the only ones who can stop us.

 

To be fair despite our performance at Loftus Road Q.P.R and Rotherham are crap. And in all fairness Brentford were extremely lucky agaisnt Q.P.R they got outplayed for large parts of that game.

 

Brentford have looked distinctly unimpressive every time I’ve seen them, but I guess you’d be able to say exactly the same about us. Can’t imagine they’d be a big threat if Toney gets injured or loses form, though.

 

So if we win and Norwich don't there is a reasonable chance we go top tomorrow night (unless Swansea win with a better GD and/or Reading win and get +3 GD)

First Bournemouth goal was bizarre, free kick and the wall were obviously told not to jump at all and Stanislas just lifted it over them. If they'd jumped would've hit them square in the mush.

 

I’d imagine it was a huge dive to win the fk in the first place.

Haven't seen it but can confirm this is true.

 

In fairness they have another very good striker in Marcus Forss, if Toney gets injured Forss would just be elevated to being their main man

After last nights results maybe our away result at Bristol City was actually very good, and our thrashing of PNE was even better than we thought!!!

A number of our results don’t look that bad with the benefit of hindsight, but both Bournemouth and Preston fans are praising PNE for how committed they were and how hard they pressed... which wasn’t evident at all against us. So it’s really just a lottery and it depends if the team you are playing that day is up for it or not.

 

I only saw the second half but they were ferocious.
Although as Luton8a said earlier AFC B do look flimsy in defence.

 

I also think some teams styles are better suited to play against some teams and vise versa...

 

yes but lose tonight and we may not even be in the play off places.
Muff, naaarch, Swansea and Brentford will all be in the top 6 and 2 will be in the top 2 if we aren't.

 

FWIW I saw half the QPR v Muff game a few weeks back and QPR repeatedly got in behind their defence. But QPR couldn't actually score from their chances.

 

No team in this division has a hope of maintaining any intense level press with the schedule how it is. Maybe they were picking and choosing and saw them as a more winnable game? Did they have players to come back for Bournemouth that were missing against us?

 

True, but 'lose tonight' is a big assumption.

 

I think they had a couple on suspension for our game.

Why are some of the lower league games at 19:00?

 

Terrible standard this year. Really is a golden chance for promotion for a team willing to be offensive home and away.

 

As explained in another thread, Covid is a key reason behind the poor quality of the league.

More regular games, less rest/ preseason over the summer, more injuries.

It’s been a huge leveller, are teams are hugely inconsistent and disjointed. Skilful attacking players have lost their sharpness.

It’s going to be a long season.

 

Based on points per game, no team in the Championship is currently on target for promotion.
