I'm not very good at maths but if Bournemouth receive £18m after initially paying £1m that means they'll receive, in effect, £17m doesn't it?

With the sell-on clause now removed the only other monies to deduct from their overall profit would be his wages. I suppose that could bring it down a bit but I'd be surprised if he was on a huge income. The odd loan fee as well I guess from his moves to Chesterfield and Wimbledon but, again, I can't imagine they'd have been large sums.

Moves that are a near certainty:
    Pereyra (~£10m)
    Doucoure (£20m+)
    Estupinan (~£20m)
    Femenia (~£5m)
At least one CB (dunno which one but it doesn't really matter as they're all much of a muchness) (~£5m)

    Probable moves:
Deulofeu (seen £15m bandied around which would be a bit disappointing, I'd say we should be looking for £20-25m)
    Capoue (£5m)
Success (£5m for a permanent move, though he might go on loan)
    Penaranda (ditto Success)
    Welbeck (£5m)

    Possible moves:
Hughes (£15m, although we should do absolutely everything in our power to keep him)
Sarr (£50m, should do what we can to keep him, but may be difficult if big clubs are persistent right up to the transfer deadline)
Deeney (a few million quid, more about getting his wages off the books. Be difficult convincing clubs to come for him though)
Gray (similar to Deeney, although I'd say we could get a little more out of Gray as he's a few years younger)

Pereyra has Udinese written all over. Probably player or players exchanged. Would add Sema going there too.
    Doucs agreed with that value.
The rest are overly optimistic imo.
Hughes should be valued higher than Doucs. No chance he's leaving for 15m
Sarr I still believe will stay.
    Kabs will go
Femenia will go but neither will pick up high values.
GD, Success I can see leaving in January.
I still believe both Deeney and Gray will be going. Teams will start panicking when the first to fourth choices have gone elsewhere.

With the home grown rules in the EFL I would think that we would be unlikely to offload Hughes and Gray.

I think plenty of clubs are going to be a lot more conservative with their money this summer given no one really knows when we'll be back to the old normal with full attendances - and with potential local lockdowns and national lockdowns.

For us, I think that may mean more of an evolution to the squad than a revolution...we may sell a few, but talk of selling 10-15 odd players seems way off to me. The likes of Cathcart and Dawson and Deeney are perfect for next season.

Yeah, where I say £5m it could easily be about £2-3m tbf. Doucs shouldn't be valued higher than Hughes, but he's a bigger name and has been linked with clubs for much longer (although I am fairly confident we can keep hold of Hughes). Hard to tell with Estupinan as we've never seen him here, but if he's already one of the best LBs in Spain, I don't see why £20m is overly ambitious (although I suppose if it gets late in the window and he's still here, we might swallow our pride and accept £10-15m). I find it hard to see Gray and Deeney both leaving really unless it's a loan deal (which would leave us losing Troy for nothing in a year's time), or unless we continue to stump up some of their wages, as they're on big money, ageing and not good enough for the Prem.

Sarr I do think we'll keep, the clubs for whom he'll be a key player won't stump up £50m (unless say someone like Palace or Wolves lose Traore/Zaha for stupid money which is unlikely), but I don't see any big clubs paying that for him to sit on the bench

Selling that many players I agree is perhaps a bit unrealistic. Maybe about 8 sales with a few loans out (picking up a small fee, with the player never to be seen again) is more likely

  8. There won't be big money spent this transfer window, if anything I can see the industry in real financial trouble. I'll eat my hat if we sell 8 players.

Estupian and Suarez won't ever play for us. Welbeck and Deeney would start if still here.

That would be a SAUCY team! Obviously there'd be some concerns at the back, but given Ivic's record defensively, surely he'd be able to get a tune out of that lot (was that the main reason he got the job I wonder?)

Is Wilson not a Liverpool player on loan?

Yes...it would be very exciting, with ridiculous quality on the bench to call on.

For some reason, I just think Watford will keep everyone they want to keep, including Sarr, Estupinan and Suarez. Geri will stay for at least half a season because of his injury and I can see Welbeck and Deeney being part of things too.

Once you get these big players committed, the rest will fall in line, like Capoue and Hughes. No one wants to leave something that could actually be very good. All players want to win every week and play well. I think a lot of them could see it as a nice little break from the Premier League, being big Charlies for a season, and have a good time enjoying a successful season.

The signing of Ngakia, even though he's young, will have impressed players at the club. That we can still attract Premier League quality and a top young prospect.

With concerns at the back, I share those, but I believe we'll bring in two players of quality. One central defender and a keeper. Without knowing who the CB will be, I've put in Dawson, who is more than adequate for the Championship.

So far I've been impressed with the signing of Ngakia and Ivic looks like he could be a winner who will really sort the side out. I can see players, especially the young ones, really playing for him and being excited by what next season could be like.

I highly doubt Estupinan stays tbf, he'll probably be one of the first players out the door (not that he was ever in the building lol), but if we dig in and keep a hold of most of that lot, we have a lot to look forward to

  18. If Estupinan was leaving we’d have heard rumblings about a new left back, no one in their right mind would go a full season with only one in the squad (Masina) and pre season starts Monday. He’s staying. I’m sure if it.

There's a long time until the season starts and a longer time until the window ends.

I think we'll start the season with the likes of Deulofeu, Doucoure and Sarr, but not aure they make it past the deadline day.

BTW, with the late window, is the Jan window now being moved to Feb/Mar?

That is what worries me - we'll sell these players so late in the transfer window we will have no time to replace them.

The season will be 4 weeks old before the window shuts so we might see a very different team start it to the one in October.

It depends on how we start the season, if we are at the top and playing well then it would be easier to keep some players.

  24. Spanish league finished later than English league I think; Suarez, Esptupinan might have an extra week?

As per Otter's post above, in theory time-wise Pervis should be ready to join up with the squad.

Suarez might be given a little bit longer for holidays though given the delay in waiting for Zaragoza's playoff campaign to start.

True, it could be one area where the window closing after the season has started might benefit us.

Albeit, if we start well it could also get the vultures circling even more.

Looking forward to the annual “who is that guy?” when the club put out the regular crap about everyone being excited to be back at it.

Did we always plan for him to come back to us as soon as their play-offs were postponed though?

We gave them one extension to the loan, but once it had to be extended again then it was too much - the final is currently scheduled for 23rd August.

Suarez left Zaragoza on 5th August, so maybe the club might consider 11 days to be enough holiday before pre-season, or maybe he'll join up a bit later so he has 2 or 3 weeks holiday. Either way it should still give him 2 or 3 weeks of preseason, as opposed to had he stayed in which case he wouldn't be back from holidays until the season was already about to start.

I should hope that any of our players who had been in Spain have been in the UK long enough to have completed mandatory quarantine by now. I get that with Suarez it won't have been possible but I hope that he's in the UK now and eaten into a considerable amount of those 14 days assuming that he's in our plans for next season
