This is a fair point about Gray. He's still dreadful and needs to be replaced, but at least unlike Troy he has been trying to make a nuisance of himself.
I proffer Pussetto as evidence for the defence. I fully expect Sarr in a half decent side with a half decent coach and half decent strikers to prosper. Then we will all be wailing. Sarr is not the issue as a winger. The issue is not having strikers who can run and anticipate and in one case control the ball. Remember Gray's bumbling effort from that excellent work by Wilmot. Seems like an age ago. When Sarr disappears we really will find another level of mediocrity.
Trampoline Ghost cannot do the very basics of playing football . I can’t think of a player to have played for us who is so poor at the fundamental skills required to be a footballer. Trap , control and short pass. It’s not difficult.
To be fair there was a handful of decent balls put into the box by Sarr and Sema but the strikers didn't move.
Yes, and goals as well soon particularly away from home whilst they are still with us. That would help.
But is it not fair to expect him to not put an uncontested cross on the roof of the net on the one occasion he finally managed to beat the first man? If a £40 million winger needs a half decent coach and teammates to deliver some quality crosses then I’d hate to think what one would cost who could do that off his own steam.
Aside from anything else, Sarr worked twice as hard defensively as Sema, and helped compensate for the times when our strikers just didn't even bother to get back into the defensive shape, Deeney in particular.
Well, I for one find myself quite shocked that hiring a Spanish nobody hasn’t resulted in an a squad of largely mediocre, aging, and slow losers suddenly improving as footballers.
Because whoever is running the scouting at the club doesn't care about spotting or nurturing talent that is under their noses. If they haven't sat on the bench in a top league side or played 2 mins in a Europa League game then they're not deemed good enough.
But he is really good at just running down the line it doesn't matter that he can't control a football and is more likely to miss from two yards out than score.
Ken Sema is mediocre but done far more this season than Sarr. Sarr could be good in a very good team, but hes nowhere near a 35m pound player.
Trampoline Ghost. When he controls it , it either bounces off him like a trampoline or goes right through him like a ghost . Is up there with Ellington as the worst signing of all time .
Manat are you a friend of Andre or his agent because no one after watching all the footage of him in the last two seasons could honestly say he resembles a footballer. He can still run but so can I. Doesn't make me a professional footballer. How an earth we paid £18M for him is one of the biggest mistakes Gino has ever made. There are bargains to be had in the pyramid. It was sad to see Wigan in the state they were left in but we did not even consider a few of their better players because they were pretty decent for this level. Eighteen million for someone who should be able to to the basics of his job but cannot is mind blowing. I would rather see Dalby given the run out.
Mr IBB often says "I'd like to be a fly on the wall". Well I'd like to be a fly on the skull wall of Troy's head. Does he truly believe he's still capable? Lord knows Gray has outstayed his welcome with his behaviour and general lack of ability but he does have some movement and has created the last two goals. Troy should have been an impact player for the last two seasons and is now tarnishing a proud legacy with pitiful displays such as today. Others have made reference to Foster's performance and he certainly isn't without blame nor are the defenders ( FS for the first and AM for the second) for allowing Lowe to shoot and then the cross to be put in, All true but the paucity of our strike force is evident for all to see and it must be soul destroying to play with, knowing that the chances of converting an opportunity are slim to non existent. No wonder Sarr looks peed off. We might as well sell him now if we get 40m plus,if only for humanitarian reasons. It's a dark day for us all as we stare into the abyss of a long stay in this division or some kind of conversion for Gino to change course and correct his failings of the last two seasons. I won't hold my breath!
We need a better forward than Deeney, but saying Ivic was sacked because he rested him is ridiculous. Did you see the way we played at Huddersfield? The way all the other players performed was much more significant than the fact Deeney was being rested.
Sema when he has managed to get to the byeline has created goals. But his crosses from deeper positions like Sarr have also been wasted. Sarr prefers bend and whip on his crosses and even managed to lift in a delightful ball which Sema failed to anticipate. Sarr is on a level that his peers in the team are not. Maybe the addition of Zinckernagel will help him because teams will be hard pressed to double on both. At the moment Sarr is often double marked but no one especially in midfield has the foresight to use this. He is constantly fouled as well which earns free kicks. Again because (and hopefully this changes when Philip starts) our players find it impossible to take a decent free kick these are of no use either.
You asked me this before and the answer is the same. I have no personal connection with Gray. And your other points I have already covered elsewhere.
Hmm maybe not the main reason but I imagine if a manager comes in and drops Troy he will create a bad atmosphere and we all know what happens next.
He didn’t hold it up. He had an awful first touch and the ball was nudged into the path of Cleverley by the defender.
This is what really happened The ball was pinged into Andre in the centre of the goal near the edge of the area . The ball bounced off of him , his second touch was a tackle and the loose ball fell to Cleverly Stats do not tell the whole story .
As a fellow Watford fan Manat I cannot believe you still support Andre. I know he is wearing the shirt and GT would say get behind the man in the shirt but he might as well not be wearing it. Again nothing would please me more if he suddenly clicked and knocked in a hatful of goals that achieved promotion but I am pretty sure he is done. I mean he cannot control a football which is a pretty essential facet of being a professional player.
Clutching at straws a bit though isn't it the ball bobbled off him to Cleverley who scored from distance. I mean Sarr and Sema did put a few good balls in and he Gray did miss from about 2 yards. Also Gray is a centre forward so his main job is to create and score goals two thing he is clearly not capable of doing.
