If you were off drinking age, or even at all switched on, you'd realise that Tesco has recently been offering a tidy 60 bottles of carlsberg export for a mere £20. Now in student terms, this is one hell of a deal.

    Sort your life out.

Mundane torture from the 1987 file of PFC FITZ:

The AC Compressor belt broke on the 1980 Honda Civic I was driving in from Northern California to Maryland in 1987. I was 20. It happened 55 miles outside of Salt Lake City, and two miles down highway 80 from an out of business gas station that I thought I recognized when I saw 'The Hills Have Eyes', '28 days later' or one of the 'Resident Evil' movies. There was absolutely NOTHING out there. It was 2:30am, and we sent one guy up ahead to get a tow truck out before we found out the place was shut down. So he came back and we pushed the car the two miles to the place to get it off the road as HoneyBee adorned Utah State Trooper patrol cars passed us by 3 ****ing times! We found it had a pay phone that still worked, so maybe Joseph Smith or Brigham Young was looking down on me. Next, we called 8-12 towing companies before we found a Non-Mormon one that would serve us since it JUST HAPPENED TO BE an Mormon holiday. He said he would pick us up after 10am, so we waited there miserable, sleepy, thirsty and hungry. Then we all piled into the cab (3 of us plus a 280 pound jack mormon tow truck driver) and drove the 60 miles to the Honda dealer in Salt Lake City that was closed until Tuesday...we broke down Friday night Saturday AM. We watched the risible Tom Hanks and Dan Aykroyd Dragnet movie 3 times (it was out in the theaters at the time) because it was hot outside and we couldn't buy any beer or go into any bar SINCE THERE WERE NONE and they would have been closed for the holiday anyway. When the belt was repaired, as we drove out of the dealership, the brakes failed. Seriously. We had to order the parts and wait overnight for them to come in. Yay another day in Salt Lake City. I have a photo of my friends just after the brakes failed somewhere. It's pretty funny.

Ahh, good times...I wish I was 20 again. Utah sucks ass. Like Stella.

    IN MY AREA!

I used to live in San Pedro and would go occasionally to the Whale & Ale. It was nice, but not exactly a popular place.

I moved from that area a few years ago, but I'm planning an expedition back for the OSH now. $3 pints Mon-Fri 3pm - 6pm.

I'm going to be drunk in public soon...

Used to be my favourite when it was a Moorland brew at 5.2% but now at 4.5% from the evil brewco Greene King it's not the same. Still a good pint mind at to you cheaper than we can get it over here without the import costs:rant:

no stella tonight but lots of sugar and caffeine. i never drink coffee usually so its all a bit novel. unfortunately i can't do anything for more than ten mins so it seems to be a bit of a pointless trip

I'm on wine tonight. It's a 2006 vintage Fume Blanc from the Paso Robles area of the central coast of California.

It's a wine that rated above 90% according to some wine critics, yet costs less than $10.

    I love quality bargain wines.

I watched a movie last night where a bartender offered his customers a choice between Hoegaarden and Stella Artois.

Today I went to a Mexican restaurant at lunchtime, well 12:30 actually, but i wanted breakfast. I noticed glumly that the menu said they stopped serving breakfast at 11am...I asked the lady working there if they might possibly make breakfast for me anyway. She said "Jes, of course, we make eggs all day long!" I told her I had found a new favorite restaurant...she brought me a bowl of tortilla soup on the house.

I love it when I find a restaurant which isn't staffed by moronic *****s. It's so inexplicably rare.

Am stuck drinking John Smiths tonight as it's the only non-fizzy lager that the local mini-market stocks.

It's my anniversary weekend, 7 long years. (7 "beautiful years" if anyone asks...) Anyway, I stopped by the Bevmo to get some champagne for the occasion, and while there picked up some good old Pilsener Urquell and a six pack of Green Flash Brewing's India Pale Ale. Massive hop overload. Too much even, but I like it.

They say the weather over the past 3 years has done pretty bad damage to the Hops cultivations. I spoke to the local micro-brewery's brewmaster the other day and he said what cost $1000 last year will cost him $6000 this year, henceforth hop's intensive beers are going to be hard to find. I resolved to drink them up while I can and not complain later.

    (I still will though.)
