Stadium Expansion

Having stumped up big loans for player acquisition, i expect stadium expansion will wait until Gino sees new money coming into the club

 

Perhaps not the correct thread to post this, but it does show the stadium so it'll have to do - for those of you that like pictures of anything Watford FC related, the official site has done a best of the season gallery. Some real good ones there, have a look.

The average attendance in the Championship this season was 20,496, which is more than what we get. I feel now, you have to expand further if you want to attract all those potential new disenchanted Arsenal supporters and Spurs fans priced out of the new stadium.

I seem to remember both the Bees and the 'Wood having letters in the press (programmes?) requesting that those supporting them as "2nd clubs" don't wear their first teams' colours to matches (the Bees had quite a large gooner contingent).

 

Ironically more Man U shirts in the Rookery since promotion.

 

Scraping the barrel again as far as stadium expansion goes - but if anyone fancies moving in to those new, 1 bed apartments on Vicarage Road - they're yours for a cool £280k.

Would certainly make match days easier though - and you could heckle away fans from your balcony - assuming the windows are made of toughened glass!

Where's the tv in that flat?? It just looks like the sofa is positioned so you're viewing the window and the outside of the stadium. I suppose staring at the Watford badge and not a tv in the evening might do it for some strange fellow though.

Or you could save money by buying one of those houses in Luton where a room is missing on the ground floor because they've put some turnstiles there and the metal stairway goes right past your bathroom.

Why would you need to park outside the stadium if you live there?

 

Obviously to rent out parking space every match day like they do around Wemberlee.
£15 per game 19 Home games plus cups and premium for top clubs and FA cup quarters when we’re drawn at home and European games etc.

Get payback ignoring inflation in about 400 years.
Got to invest for the future.
If only they had black embellishments instead of red I might consider one.

Maybe there's a garage/driveway behind those temporary gates??!! If so - if you're not going to the match when one is being played, hopefully you won't need your car for anything else considering the road gets closed!

 

I reckon there's room to expand that upwards and outwards also over Vicarage Road to increase capacity to 2 bedrooms

An article on the official site about current work going on at the Vic during the summer - have posted the pitch pics in the grounds team award thread - but there's also details about adding further disabled spaces along the lower GT. Thought this was interesting because of a couple of points:

1 - I'm all for making the stadium more accessible to disabled supporters - but I'm sure even our own disabled supporters have confirmed there's more than enough spaces, and that we're not filling the current capacity? Therefore, the club is effectively being forced to increase the numbers to an arbitrary number as opposed to the actual demand. Conversely, this reduces the capacity of the stadium and means less supporters will get the chance of obtaining a ticket (I'm aware of the empty seats - but these are ST no-shows as opposed to unsold - if you check the ticket website a day or so before the game, it's always sold out).

2 - As the pictures below show, they've taken the wall down of the Captain's Bar in order to put in these new spaces. Surely this means that the bar will also now be smaller than it originally was, unless I've got confused with the stadium's layout/geography?

Yes the captains bar will be smaller. My season ticket had the wall immediately behind it. Now we have moved forward a couple of rows.

 

Shame the captain wont be smaller

 

Why can't they just install tip up or removable seats in those areas and if they are not to used up by the disabled (as it appears they wont be) then just sell them as ordinary seating places?

Too simple a solution i guess.
