We have to take our chances, we only create two a game and our defence will usually concede that many.

Shambolic performance. We got away with it in the first half because Saints were even worse.
Bringing on Grey had the same effect of having a player sent off.
Sacking Javi after 4 games and replacing him with QSF will be seen as a catastrophic decision in the history of Watford FC.

Even if he had missed, we're still drawing in a 'must win' game and hes leaving Deeney, Pereyra and Quina on the bench in favour of a full back

    Inexcusable, Flores disgraced himself tonight

I thought we would go down after Burnley so not as disappointed this week as I was last week.

The player's aren't good enough to keep opposing teams out over the course of a game, you can blame whatever manager that comes in you like.

Goal 1 - watch again Chalobah's attempt to help out Holebas for the first goal. Just stands and watches. If he does his job that ball doesn't get into the box.
Goal 2 - watch Capoue again give away a needless free kick. There was no need.

    Individual errors.

Stings as it should, but in the cold light of day we'll all be thankful for the beating.

Gino now is forced to admit that the Flores decision was appalling, and that serious investment in playing and coaching staff is the only thing that can save us

I am truly disgusted by that second half display. It was worse than Burnley, and that is saying something. But before I get into it - some brief positives.

Sarr - MotM tonight and will be the most gutted, first class finish and kept working hard all night. Really is a decent player but he plays in a team devoid of any footballing brain. I feel sorry for him.
Watford Fans - seemed in good voice and again, I feel for them going back to Hertfordshire tonight. They deserve more than what the team trudged up.
Shout Box - Great as always. Some correct comments and rightly toxic late on - we seem to know more about our club than the owners.

    Right. Deep Breathe.

I thought first half we did OK. It was scrappy with both sides desperate not to lose, and we probably shaded it. Sarr's goal was class. Lucky deflection on the through ball and he took it in his stride, then finished with a lovely little dink over the keeper. We just about deserved to lead at the break, Southampton rarely threatened us despite dominating possession for the entire half. Only right at the end of the half did they come close. What ever QSF said at HT was either not taken on board by the players or they just wanted him out. That last 45+ mins was one of the worst all season. Man City aside, it was up there - it has to be.

No composure on the ball, wayward passing, inviting pressure constantly and a real sh!t show all around. Their equaliser was so avoidable. WTF was Holebas and Kiko doing!!?? Both culpable and both need to shoulder the blame. Foster didn't exactly cover himself in glory either. But then, to really hammer the final nail in QSF's coffin tonight, he brings on not a striker/more attacking player to try to regain the lead.... he brings on Forquier!!!!! I mean come on!! What the hell are you doing? Do you want me to fly to Southampton, get in a phone booth and call the taxi for you? Almost as bad as his subs against Chelsea. We do not take the lead very often in games, so asking us to keep such a slender lead was never going to work, especially in a game as heated as this one.

Good FK for their winner, but another needless foul to bring it about. Foster should of saved it, he got gloves on it and it still went in. Just our luck at the moment, but that's not an excuse for some very poor goal keeping and defending yet again. What did we do for the rest of the match? Backs to the wall of course! Backs to the fecking wall. Sorry, I am really angry as I type this. GRAY come on - does nothing as per usual, well actually that's not true, he screws a half chance wide and almost hits the corner flag.

To give a fair balance of view, Southampton deserved it. They had the ball more, looked more dangerous especially after half time. They should of had a penalty, and could if won by more. We looked half decent first half but just like last week, fell to bits second half. Did QSF want his P45 signed by all the players at half time? I know he was thrown in at the deep end with an awful squad who have no confidence going forward and cannot defend against a paper bag coming at the goal, but he HAS to shoulder the blame tonight. We still could of gone on to win after their first goal, we were still in the game and he signed his death warrant with that awful sub. He's a nice chap, never met him, but we do not need a Mr. Nice Guy at this club. We need somebody to come in and kick this lot up the arse, get rid of the dead wood in January and prepare for next season. We are down now, tomorrow's results will confirm that.

We had a chance tonight, and we blew it. Again.

I was happy with Gray coming on for Delefoeu. Delefoeu didn't have the same impact as he would like and QSF wanted the second goal. Gray scored the second goal against Norwich so that sub was understandable.
I wasn't happy at the time with Chalobah for Hughes as I thought that was a bit too defensive as Chalobah wasn't going to make the forward runs Hughes was doing. I would've gone like for like if there was one on the bench.

Well it appears HB1 was right. We are doomed. Southampton were terrible first half so to sit off them in the second half was embarrassing. That is Flores fault as we’re some incredible subs
The defence was dreadful. Letting the ball bounce, not getting close enough to their man, not closing down. All of them should hang their heads in shame.
Sarr at least looked like he can play football and was easily our best player. at half time it all looked so promising.
I’m gutted. My train was cancelled as well. Has Flores gone yet?

Problem is, Gray offers zero defensively. Deulofeu at least chases back.

Don't kid yourself that it was avoidable. We've had a manager that goes toe to toe with the opposition (Gracia) and the players not good enough. We have a manager who wants to set up with a good defensive base first (QSF) and the players not good enough. Not helped of course by injuries.

Root cause = ineffective recruitment for 3 seasons.

Im surprised at the level of anger, especially as I guess most people here didn't go. I would have thought apathy would finally have set in.

We all knew we would lose, and we did. The club has let itself fester with complacency, stood by while Javi oversaw a slow descent into laziness and idleness, and then hired someone who has proved incapable of adjusting his defensive tactics, which they should have known considering they already hired him once before.

We lost, we will lose again next week. The squad don't care, and the manager is incapable of improving us
