Actually when they showed the free kick from behind it didn't look like it quite went into the top corner and I did wonder if Foster could've done better.

 

That’s certainly true. I thought he was a tragic incompetent lazy appointment by Pozzo. We’d already seen his horrific output when Ighalo stopped scoring a few seasons ago. I cannot wait to see him out of our club. His awful performance this time around just backs me up.

How can this be the worst sub in living memory? He came on against Norwich at 1-0 and scored the second to make it 2-0. Today he came on and wasn't able to score the second goal. So what? If he was a goal machine he would start all the games.

Us armchair managers can be wise after the event when things don't work out.

Quite. We should give some of the younger players a go. Quina. Dele Bashiru. Recall Wilmot and play him week in week out. They can’t do any worse than the first team shirkers.

Cast Holebas into the abyss as well permanently and give Masina a chance to claim the spot (even though I suspect he is another terrible signing by Giraldi).

 

He'll go for sure now, but we need to have a quality replacement lined up, and that's not easy. Let's face facts, QSF was the best they could find when they sacked Gracia, so it's not looking good. This week would be a bad one to sack a coach as we've got another defeat on Wednesday to contend with, then an important loss against Palace on Saturday.

New manager bounce will be drowned again.

Because of the type of player he is and the form he's in. We had a threat on the break with Deulofeu, he was picking it up deep and running at them. Ok, he wasn't having a great game but he was the link between midfield and attack. Then we put Gray on and the link is gone. There's no longer a threat on the break as there's a whacking great gap between him, Sarr and the rest of the team. So the ball comes back again and again, handing the initiative to a team with fragile confidence. It's not about Gray per se (although his form is horrific at the moment), it's about the fact we could no longer play with any threat on the break.

 

People can’t seriously defend QSF and here is why.

1. Five at the back is flawed. We played 6 defenders in that match and not one of them is premiership standard. Ok you could say that’s not QSFs fault but we’d be better off playing 4 crap defenders and having a better outfield player to give us an outlet e.g. Pereya, Deeney, Quina, even Chalobah instead of Holebas. It would probably be better for us defensively as well as offensively not to play 5 at the back.

2. Substitutions - even the Gray one was the wrong decision. At 1-0 up and needing to close the game down it should have been Deeney for his hold up play, gamesmanship and leadership not Gray who gave the ball away with needless fouls. If we were chasing the game then maybe Gray. The other subs were indefensible.

3. QSFs body language when they scored was appalling. Even if he was defeated he needs to convey urgency and energy to the players not slump in his chair with arms folded. I’d sack him just for his body language.

4. All of the above is not new and will be be repeated again and again if he stays in charge. I know we are dire and the defence is rubbish but with a positive manager we could at least have a go at staying up however unlikely it is.

5. He’s not as physically attractive as 3 years ago.

I’m normally pretty loyal to retaining managers but QSF is so so wrong and it’s so obvious.

 

You said it.....I read it in your post. No matter, you were wrong about Mazzari, Gracia and Flores.....but at least you're consistent.

 

Probably because QSF sees Chalobah as next in line. Quina will want out if they're not careful.

 

When QSF was re-appointed I was very much against it and wrote this in another thread which I stand by:


"I agree. Anyone who thinks that QSF is suddenly going to start playing with a more attacking style is deluded. He only knows one way to play and that is to TURN THE ENTIRE TEAM INTO DEFENDERS. He was very unpopular with Benfica and Valencia fans for playing turgid defensive football and playing flair, attacking players in defensive positions. He had just as many attacking options with those clubs if not more than he has with us. Dont be surprised to see our new 30 million pound signing Sarr being used sparingly - and when used - often as a defensive midfielder. If QSF was English he would be labelled as a footballing dinosaur.

We do not have Prodl, Britos or Ake anymore. OK Prodl is still here but is surely not up to playing in the Premier League anymore. Our central defence is WORSE than it was last time QSF was here and he will do all that is possible to compensate for our poor defence by making everyone defend. Our strikers are not better than the Deeney - Ighalo strike force that was a force of nature for half a season. Our attacking midfielders are better but I almost certain they will be forced to make defending their number one priority.

Anyone relieved that Gracia is gone to due to his tactical inflexibility and sticking with out of form players will soon be brought down to earth because QSF has the same faults. If QSF has changed - and hopefully he has - then I apologise.

Expect to see lots of very frustrating games for the rest of the season. If we avoid relegation then its job done and hopefully we find another coach. The heirarchy at Watford has to take most of the blame for this season. They ought to of sacked Gracia in the summer if they did not think he was up to it, brought a couple of quality central defenders and given the new coach the summer to work with the squad, so we could push on from the good season we had last year.

Now some fans on here agreed others vehemently disagreed excusing QSF tactics for the poor quality he had to work with last time but these are his tactics, full stop.


Fans eloquently pointing out faults in our squad have been branded for being ' entitled' and no its not a case of if you moan about the team long enough you will eventually be proven right these glaring issues in defence and upfront have been continuing for two years now. After the 6-0 thrashing in the cup final against a second gear Man City team it was clear that urgent reinforcements needed to be made in defence and that Gracia had performed a minor miracle to achieve what he did last season. Instead we sign an average Championship central defender, a striker who is likely to play less than 10 games a season and a winger who the owners hope will play well, not for the sake of the team, but so we are able to cash in for a profit after about a year.

Its the ' moaners' who have proven to be the intelligent ones.
